Donald Trump used money donated for charity to buy himself a Tim Tebow-signed football helmet

“……….Four years ago, at a charity fundraiser in Palm Beach, Donald Trump got into a bidding war at the evening's live auction. The items up for sale: A Denver Broncos helmet, autographed by then-star quarterback Tim Tebow, and a Tebow jersey. Trump won, eventually, with a bid of $12,000.

But Trump didn't actually pay with his own money………

…….Instead, the Susan G. Komen organization — the breast-cancer nonprofit that hosted the party — got a $12,000 payment from another nonprofit, the Donald J. Trump Foundation. Trump himself sent no money. (In fact, a Komen spokeswoman said, Trump has never given a personal gift of cash to the Komen organization.) He paid the bill with money from a charity he founded in 1987, but which is largely stocked with other people's money. Trump is the foundation's president. But, at the time of the auction, Trump had given none of his own money to the foundation for three years running……….

……….. "That would be a classic violation of the prohibition on a charity being operated for the private inurement (benefit) of the charity's creator," Brett G. Kappel, an expert on tax-exempt organizations at the Akerman law firm in Washington, wrote in an email. The Trump Foundation does not appear to have offices of its own. It is headquartered at Trump's business offices in New York and has no full-time staff………

Re: Donald Trump used money donated for charity to buy himself a Tim Tebow-signed foo

Well he is a con-man.. not shocked, but they need to find out where that helmet is, and if Trump has done something wrong.. he needs to be fined.

Of course a lot of this would be easily solved if he would just release his tax returns for the last decade.. or even better the last 20 years, so we can have his bankruptcy years included.

Re: Donald Trump used money donated for charity to buy himself a Tim Tebow-signed foo

Is this really the worst you guys can come up with on Trump?

Re: Donald Trump used money donated for charity to buy himself a Tim Tebow-signed foo

When I was 12, I pissed under the bleachers during a football game.

Whew...Had to get that off my conscience.

Re: Donald Trump used money donated for charity to buy himself a Tim Tebow-signed foo

Is this really the worst you guys can come up with on Trump?

Well I sure as heck could come up with a whole lot more.

Let's start with this.....

His trade policy isn't much different than Hillary Clinton's proposals. And you got morons like Newt Gingrich a Trumpkin on Fox calling Trumps trade policies " Fresh and Bold" True story.

His latest remarks trashing those candidates in this primary who have not endorsed him. And the reason he is back to trashing former candidates is because the #Free the Delegates is growing strong and when something becomes a threat to the Orange one, he starts trashing people.

How about the latest in he is finding it difficult to get key speakers at the convention. A lot of people are saying no thanks. Currently those set to speak are sycophants and his children who are registered Democrats and couldn't even vote for Daddy in the primary.

His remarks on Brexit were down right embarrassing.

His surrogate Ben Carson a few days ago came out and stated the 2nd Amendment should be put on the table for discussion.

His surrogate Sarah Palin stated today if you are against Trump you are against the movement. What movement? A bowel movement.?

How am I doing?

Yes all his surrogates are out there in save Trump mode and why? Because #Free the Delegates is growing big momentum and the biggest story is the showdown that will happen at the convention.

So what did he do with the helmet?

Well, according to the article, they don't have a clue.

So bottom line, everything is just conjecture and postulating.

The perfect dog whistle for the paid shills who push this BS across the internet, and on debate blogs.

Perhaps the ideological neophytes at WaPo could get some facts together before pulling at the self inflicted panty wad they have over Trump.

With that post I sense...frustration:lol:

Vesper, every day that goes by in this campaign I find myself praying more and more than my faith in the resilience of the American people isn't misplaced. Come November we are going to find ourselves in the most treacherous waters we have had to navigate since Lincoln was in the White House and the way we get through it is likely going to change this nation forever. May we have the wisdom to weather this storm without hanging ourselves in the process.

Well you got the frustration part right.
I see only one way out of this mess and that is free the delegates.
I am searching for a hotel room so that I can go to the convention.
I am ordering a large banner that says "Free the Delegates".
I believe with every fiber of my being that Trump is incompetent and the delegates are the only ones left to stop him.
The good news is there is momentum for #Free the Delegates. They now have a super pac that is producing TV and radio ads.
They have had two conference calls with all involved including delegates and on this call were over a thousand present.
They have filed a class action suit in Virginia for the right of delegates to vote their conscience and today the judge agreed to hear the case.
A book written on unbinding the delegates called "Unbound" written by a life long Republican delegate is being provided by another pac for free download on the internet.
They have become very organized and have money coming in as donations to build this movement. All the people working on this are not being paid. For the most part they are teachers, lawyers, business owners....everyday people dedicating their time free of charge.
The latest is they have opened an office in Cleveland just blocks away from the convention.

I am so looking forward to the GOP convention. It could rival Game of Thrones or Ray Donovan. I will have my pizza and beer ready!

He is obviously rich but I doubt he is a billionaire.

That's why Trump needs donations.

As a liberal I am sure you are looking forward to the train wreck.

I on the other hand who is a constitutionalist conservative who thinks character matters in a candidate, who believes in liberty, the Constitution, Bill of Rights, free trade am not seeing these characteristics in Trump. I think he is incompetent and desire for the delegates to do the right thing and deny Trump the nomination.

Tonight on Fox I just watched Newt Gingrich give up decades of his stance on free trade to come in line with Trump's protectionism, tariff loving viewpoint. The man is an embarrassment to every constitutionalist in this country.

There are a lot of charlatans in the Republican party who have sold their souls for Trump. May they reap what they have sowed.

There is going to be a showdown at the Convention. May those who never sold out their principles be the winner.

How can you not love a guy named Newt? He wants to bring back the House Un-American Committee. What could be better than going back to the days Joe McCarthy.

Its not that Trump is a conservative or liberal because he is neither. He is a Trumpist and says anything and everything he thinks will benefit his goals. I actually agree with him on trade to a degree but a tariff war hurts everyone. Fair and free trade is what I am for. We will be happy to buy anything from any country but our businesses need free access to foreign markets and that is not necessarily the case. Particularly with agricultural products.

I think all politicians compromise their principles to some degree. The difference with Trump is he never had any to begin with.

Newt has decades of video/speeches of him supporting free trade until now. Now he is all behind Trump's protectionist ideology that sounds just like Hillary Clinton's proposals.

Trump is neither a constitutionalist nor is he a conservative.

Trump should have run as a Democrat, he would be pounding Hillary.

But 70 percent of Republicans are not happy with him as their nominee. And he has given them plenty to not want him.

There are those working to dump Trump. May they be successful.

You are right.

I most certainly don't want to put Hillary in office, which would be putting a known corrupt organization and unethical and morally bankrupt person into the White House, far worse than Trump in my opinion, for the reasons that I've posted multiple times in the forums.

No I found it when doing my daily read of newspapers 'round the world.............

Re: Donald Trump used money donated for charity to buy himself a Tim Tebow-signed foo

Are you saying this article is not true?

Yes and No.

Yes, in that it would appear Trump purchased a helmet via one of his organizations.

NO - Because the neophyte ideologues at WaPo proved nothing to support their contention that Trump violated the law. The entire premise of their hit piece is completely bogus, and subjects the whole article to nothing but an attempted smear.

What did Trump do with the helmet? They don't have a clue, but that didn't stop them from dreaming up some narrative did it?

Is there any wonder why Trump gave the middle finger to this pathetic newspaper? Do they have any shame left, or are they hoping to see how low they can go?

Bottom line, this blather from WaPo is just another in a long line of dog whistles designed to get the pack howling and to provide opportunities for paid shills and others to plaster it around the internet, and link to it on blogs.

If he bought it and did now use his own money to pay fore it as described in the news report........

What is is.....

And suggest just recounting what was.......

Is politically motivated and doesn't deserves the light of day because it make Trump look like the charlatan he is.......

Covering up the truth is dishonest and not the purpose of what journalism is.......

You can blame it all as politically motivated.......

But it that does not change the report of what he did........
