Donald Trump is facing calls to undergo a "mental health assessment" after receiving swift backlash over a late-night meltdown in which he targeted AB

I remember back when we both called it then. There would be a day when his crap would be uncovered. Not that I think anything will come from it, but at least bad Bart's finally getting his.
He scared me the first time he said "fundamentally change . . ..

A deteriorating mental state along with being drunk on power is a deadly combination.

Literally.

Trumpists are a bunch of submissive beta cucks, so don't expect them to do anything about it.

They are loyal to the dear leader under all circumstances.
Yes, but it's funny.

His overall approval rating stands at 40%, but his approval rating with independents is dropping.

Retired Gen. Barry McCaffrey on Wednesday described President Trump’s Quantico, Va., remarks to top generals as less than admirable.

“I’ve been doing this a long time. That presentation at Quantico from the president and secretary of Defense was one of the most bizarre, unsettling events I’ve ever encountered,” McCaffrey said during an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

“The president sounded incoherent, exhausted, rabidly partisan, at times stupid, meandering, couldn’t hold a thought together,” he added.

It's time for the 25th Amendment.

Donald Trump is facing calls to undergo a "mental health assessment" after receiving swift backlash over a late-night meltdown in which he targeted ABC and NBC, threatening to have the news networks' licenses revoked.

The president was left raging on Sunday evening after tuning into the latest episode of ABC's This Week With George Stephanopoulos. During the program, ABC's Jonathan Karl reported on the FBI searches at former Trump national security advisor John Bolton’s home and office, as well as the state of a meeting the president had proposed between Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Trump appeared to have been left furious by the program as he took aim at both men in a scathing rant on his Truth Social platform. The president wrote: "I just watched Sloppy Chris Christie be interviewed on a ratings challenged 'News' Show, 'This Week With George Slopadopolus,' on ABC Fake News (By the way, what the 'hell' happened to Jonathan Karl’s hair? He looks absolutely terrible!"

Somebody needs to tell dumpletits he has no legal authority over news networks.

It long past time for MAGA and their terrorist leader to be held absolutely accountable.

He can direct FCC Chair Brendan Carr to terminate the individual local FCC transmitter licenses for stations, that's all.
He could instruct Carr to force every OTA transmitter in the country to go dark if he wants.
And the result would be millions of likely Trump voters losing their only access to television broadcasts because the majority of people who rely ONLY ON an antenna to get TV
are rural viewers who are beyond the reach of cable and not served by fast broadband internet.
They still could use a satellite dish but since farmers are being bankrupted by Trump already, it's also likely they may have to forego their Dish or DirecTV service.

There is NO SUCH THING as a license for a network.
Networks do not operate transmitters, individual broadcast stations do.

It is time for the entire industry to call Trump's bluff and tell Carr to go ahead and shut down every transmitter in the country if he wants.
Then sit back and observe the backlash.

Trump is clearly suffering from dementia.

lol

No, he cannot.

This is correct.

This is accurate and quite likely going to happen.

Agreed.
Networks do not operate transmitters, individual broadcast stations do.
This is also true.

Trump cannot give such an order. He lacks the authority.
Then sit back and observe the backlash.
Let me make some popcorn. This is going to be good.

Not true. It was never true. The 4th estate has always been liberal.

The repukes didn't like the reporting so they formed their own propaganda networks.

If they're all kow-towing and bending over for Trump, they are no longer liberal.

No, he cannot.
No, he cannot.

Actually, yes he CAN.
The FCC CAN make every transmitter in the country go dark.
Thing is, that's not the end of their broadcast anymore because almost 90 percent of Americans watch via broadband, dish or satellite these days.

Station transmitter licenses are on the small portion of the electromagnetic spectrum called "The Public Airwaves" and licenses are granted on "service in the public interest" and
since Trump has control of federal agencies, he can decide that stations are NOT "serving in the public interest".

Now, if you're saying he should not be able to get away with it, I agree.
But we are now in Bizarro World where he is getting away with it.
Congress isn't doing a thing to stop him and SCOTUS is getting out of his way and helping him.

So yes.....he CAN.
You can look up all the stuff about broadcast licensing in the FCC rules and regs.
In my time it was Part 15 and Part 95....now I guess it is buried in something FCC calls "Title 47" but it is all still there and it is all based on
The Communications Act of 1934 AND The Communications Act of 1996.

Ask yourself this question, @ColdHardTruth :
Does he have the authority to hire and fire the FCC Commissioner and replace him with someone who WILL do his bidding?
Therein lies his authority.

Nowhere in that act does it authorize the president to order the FCC to shut it down.

In the entire 120 pages of the act, the word "president" is used six times and none of those talk about give the POTUS the authority to turn anything off.

It simply isn't true.

Apparently you didnt read to the bottom of his post where he asked you a question.

Like I said, does Brendan Carr serve at the pleasure of the President?
Yes, he does.
So if he does not do as Trump wants, he will be fired and replaced with a Commissioner who WILL do as Trump wants.
You're not ever going to find that in the rules but that's the reality of how Trump operates, and how Project 2025 WANTS him to operate.

It is all part and parcel of the Enshittification of Governance that is MAGA and Project 2025.

"Here is how platforms die: first, they are good to their users; then they abuse their users to make things better for their business customers; finally, they abuse those business customers to claw back all the value for themselves. Then, they die. I call this enshittification, and it is a seemingly inevitable consequence arising from the combination of the ease of changing how a platform allocates value, combined with the nature of a "two-sided market", where a platform sits between buyers and sellers, hold each hostage to the other, raking off an ever-larger share of the value that passes between them."

----Corey Doctorow

In a 2024 op-ed in the Financial Times, Doctorow argued that "'enshittification' is coming for absolutely everything" with "enshittificatory" platforms leaving humanity in an "enshittocene".

Well guess what...enshittification has now come to governance.

Oh, yeah, that is true.

Everybody involved in project 2025 needs to spend the rest of their lives in prison.

Yes, I saw that. My apologies.

You do not have to apologize for a damn thing.
It's like when Karen and I spent three years replacing every plumbing fixture in the house, one after another.
We had no idea WHY everything was going bad.
The plumbing company that Lowe's used to install our water heater hooked it up BACKWARDS so the sediment in the bottom of the tank was being pushed to every pipe in the house.
It took us three years to figure it out because WE ARE NOT PLUMBERS! 😆

Likewise, the people who KNOW the deets about FCC rules are generally people who have to earn an FCC license, like me.
I had to STUDY all this crap to get this:

FCC1stJH.webp

Most people don't have FCC commercial radio operator licenses because they don't work in broadcasting.
I used to.

When I worked for KQNG back in the early 90s, I spent some money on getting such a license.
