Let's face it...he's not the most eloquent "candidate", but he does resonate with people who appreciate that type of response to hard questioning. It's refreshing to watch a candidate simply answer a question without getting all squishy. Trump will never the the POTUS nor will he be the GOP nominee. What his presence is doing is putting up a challenge for the other GOP candidates.

Trump never answers a question, nor do his spokespeople. I've never heard him give a straight answer on anything important. It's like trying to nail jello to the wall.

It's not like it's difficult to win "debate points" when you are accountable to no one, facts are irrelevant to what comes out of your mouth, and you're playing to a crowd that is more concerned with style over substance.

The GOP base is cheering on an internet troll...that's it.

I doubt very much that Trump will be the nominee. He needs to place well in NH and SC and I don't think he'll win either.

But it is funny to watch him make liberal heads explode. He wants the attention and they're giving it to him.

I'm not a Trump fan nor do I think he would be a good POTUS. But I do like how he has the left all frothed up.

The attention and support that is being wasted on Trump should be going to someone in the GOP who has a reasonable chance of even being the candidate.

Trump is a moron and the morons are flocking to him. Bascially his platform is this, take his position on immigration and a wall/fence: "Im Donald Trump, and if I become president I am going to secure the border and build a wall!". Trump, how are you going to do that? "I'll do it cuz I'm rich, and I like the President of Mexico and he likes me".... The man is a moron and the morons stick together.

Don't mean to burst your bubble, but Trump isn't driving us on the left "Bonkers". We are loving it. He's giving more and more visibility to the current clown car that the Republicans are driving.

Its not "liberals" who's heads are exploding. Its those who thought the GOP actually had a shot at re-taking the whitehouse that are watching their chances go up in flames. The "liberals" are very much enjoying watching the circus.

Hahaha! I dunno about getting the left frothed up...I think the talking heads just love talking about him. He's one of the more entertaining ways to fill up a 24 hour news cycle.

All of it?

And speaking of style over substance, that reminds me of Hillary Clinton talking about Barack Obama in 2008.

The only thing that would be better is if Sarah Palin threw her hat into the ring. Run Sarah Run....if the GOP ever needed you....its NOW!

I find he gives clear, concise answers, like when he said he was "very pro-life" and also the time he said he was "very pro-choice".

As much damage as Trump is doing to the GOP brand, I would think the leftie's would be rejoicing.

Okay, I'll rephrase it. A few Liberals who post on DP and start Donald Trump threads all day, every day.

If anyone seriously thinks the Republicans may not win the WH in 2016 because of words in 2015 by a guy who won't even be the nominee, I have to laugh. Hard. If they lose, nobody can blame it on Trump, and no smart person will try to blame it on Trump.

Because Hillary can't beat smart candidates, so you suggest 2 people who I could beat? Not much confidence in your girl, huh?

Well, people blame Obama for everything from the weather and Plantar's Warts. Surely, SOMEONE will blame the upcoming GOP losses on Trump.

I think you discount Trump too easily. The GOP has been trying to show the latino voters that they are not a racist anti-latino party. The fact that they haven't kicked Trump to the curb is doing damage to that outreach effort. The GOP is going to have to revise its strategy because of the damage that Trump is inflicting. We need to keep Trump in the limelight as long as possible.

Reading over this thread we see exactly that point.

There is a whole series bashing Trump here, it's like they have this ball of yarn and can't help but pick at it. I would say he was the best foil one could ask for, tilting at him only wastes their own focus.

And they need some balm as Hilary, the 'sure thing for 2016" is proving to be a weak and boring candidate. What they don't want to think about is how much money the Donald is raising for the party....

No if anything I think Trump is good for the Republican message. In 2012 you had all the candidates line up and try to move to the right of each other. Donald Trump will be an outspoken voice of MODERATION. Sure he's an extremist nut on birther and immigration issues, but if he believes in climate change or evolution or even raising taxes to balance the budget he's not going to be afraid to raise his hand and separate himself from the pack. Some others will follow him that wouldn't otherwise. Trump breaks up the uniformity. This gives the eventual candidate more of a chance to go moderate in the general election, and it might give someone like Rand Paul a fighting chance where otherwise it would be him against the field. At least one can hope

Trump is forcing america to face up to their insane immigration policy. Who ever heard of a country where 40 million foreign criminals are allowed to invade and they are given free health care and free k-12 for their kids and welfare and drivers licenses???

Not all of it...but enough to put him at a tie with Jeb at the top according to the most recent Reuters-Ipsos poll.

And Gallup predicted a Mitt Romney win right before the 2012 election. If you think polls (which by the way are usually a result of whose name is in the news that week) mean the "GOP base in cheering on an internet poll", perhaps you don't understand how politics and elections work.

No....Hillary can beat them. Trump is just making the job easier.

Of course she can. That's why you suggested that Sarah Palin run?

That's like me saying "I think the NY Giants can win the Super Bowl this year. Gee I hope they play North Central High School that day!".
