Does Trump Really Think He Can Win A Trade War With China?

Oh wait, you mean the US not willing to grow in this area had nothing to do with it? The US invented a fair percentage of green energy tech, but then abdicated expanding it in this country in part because the fossil fuel industry did not want that to happen. As often happens when there's a power vacuum, someone else fills it which in this case was China. Had the US gone down this road there would likely be less of this dependence on China, because the US would have been competing with it on securing the rare earth minerals to build products. Instead we went with "rollin' coal" mentality and the idiocy of those who thought green energy was a fad.

To then read the bolded is a bit of a laugh, because there was no one person responsible for the US dropping the ball on this. I still remember all of the crap Obama got when he wanted to expand the green energy industry in the US and the GOP and ani climate change folks were all up in arms.
 
Trump is already a lame duck president.
But the Chicken Littles waiting for the sky to fall with mention what Trump said about running for a third term.
They believe if Trump said it, then it must be true.

There are two motives to his tariff plan...to bring manufacturing back to America, and it's a tactic to force countries into negotiations. We'll have to wait to find out if he'll be successful, but there is one very important issue facing our country...we no longer have the power of strategic industrial resources to effectively fight any major war, much less multiple wars as we did in the 1940s. We depend far too much on other countries for vital needs of basic manufacturing.

I am not.

I'm simply stating that US inflation won't ever rise to previous levels under Trump.

I fully expect inflation to remain at low, acceptable levels throughout Trump's presidency...much like it during his first term (except for COVID).

I get to be consistent, because I don't put my claimed values to the service of the whims of another man. I don't have to twist into pretzels or desperately seek new explanations for why my positions have changed, or why what I said two weeks ago is never what I meant, or why Someone Else Is Always To Blame But Never The Idol.

Yes, Trump really does think he can and will win a trade war with China. In reality he's going full steam ahead with crashing the US economy. It'll be okay. He'll just blame the Democrats and MAGA will believe him.
 
The best strategy at this point is to focus on taking if not one but both Houses of Congress in 2026. It will not neuter Trump completely but will be far more effective than what is currently on offer, whining.

I almost dislike the idea of clueless Democrats who upon reading that, might slap their foreheads and say, "Damn! Why didn't I think of that? Now I have to tell my Congressperson what we need to do."

However, Liberals do love to whine about what a terrible person Trump is, because, as we all know, that is all they have going for them.

The engineered by Democrats subservience to China isn't a laughing matter. Kim Jung Biden’s decision to lift trade restrictions on China's green energy equipment manufacturing to the detriment of US manufacturing was his alone. No doubt that's why you avoided comment.

Part of Kim Jung Biden’s response to Covid-19 that cost more American lives was distributing free test kits. No doubt you can spin a tale explaining how it's US abdication that caused the Biden regime to award the contract for manufacturing the kits to China where the outbreak originated.

Not exclusively, no. However, when the US decided to not continue advancing green energy development and implementation here, the Chinese picked up the baton. Had the US remained competitive, it would have cut off Chinese moves across the developing world in making rare earth mineral deals there and expanding their green energy technology in those countries. People here thought green energy was "dumb" and the stuff only "climate alarmists" believe in, so here we are with the Chinese dominating this space.

They do, but as a stop-gap in transitioning to green energy. They actually have a plan and don't waste time denying environmental impacts.

It's the same "fanatics" who don't want parts of the US looking like a hellscape, which the Chinese are also concerned about which is in part why they've diversified their rare earth mineral access.

This would be such narrow blame to place for work that's taken about three decades building up. Because we decided green energy was "bad" and not a smart investment from a government perspective is why we have to buy from the world's leading producer of green energy tech and hardware. That could have been us, but you know, "climate alarmists".

Are we moving away from green energy tech and on to medical products? Would it have been preferable to not have the kits?

Nobody wins a trade war, but China is able to withstand a trade war better than the US.
 
But the US did continue down the road of green energy lunacy. The US increased the percentage of electric energy produced from green sources. The Chinese just built more fossile fuel generation capacity to manufacture green energy gear for export. What's dumb is denying that reality.

That's a laugh. The Chinese with the world's second largest economy are considered a developing economy by the WTO and Paris climate accords exempt from emissions standards. Kim Jung Biden just encouraged their rampant pollution and discouraged US manufacturing by unilaterally lifting trade restrictions.

Another fairy tale. US mining is heavily regulated to protect the environment. China has next to no pollution controls and their third world exploitation has none.

Nope, I am pointing to another instance in Biden and Democrats favoring China over the US. But c'mon let's have another story of how it's a good thing to reward those responsible for the pandemic. It's another example of the harebrained trade policirs Trump is trying to reform.

No one is denying that reality. The difference is it's a stop-gap measure as they continue to expand their green energy infrastructure. As they do that, they will continue to excel the green energy products they make and distribute around the world.

None of this changes the fact their green energy implementation exceeds that of the US, and they continue on track to do so. The US will be stuck with the fossil fuel pollution and nothing to show for it in comparison. It didn't have to be this way.

Not at all. China certainly has way less environmental regulations than the US, but over the years that's changed because of the obvious impacts to their countryside and in urban centers.

Good lord this is daft. I know the MAGAverse has latched on to the magical thinking the US is somehow going to start being entirely self reliant, but that's just magical thinking considering the course the rest of the world is taking and the fact 19th century mercantilism is dead.
