Stupid people who smoke pot aren't stupid because they smoked it....
Stupid people who smoke pot aren't stupid because they smoked it....
I'm sure the cause and effect goes both ways. Some people smoke pot because they are stupid, and some people are stupid because they smoke pot. And I am sure that for a substantial portion of pot smokers, both of these factors are at work.
And some people need to reduce every issue to an absurdity before they can consider the matter settled.
Of course pot doesn't make you stupid. If you think that, you either don't know many pot smokers or you don't know many smart people.
I've known quite enough of both. Perhaps another effect of chronic pot use is the loss of the ability to tell the difference.
What difference? Between pot smokers and smart people?
Listen. Pot doesn't make you stupid. I know that all you tight-ass straight-laced short-haired conservatives tell each other in the lunchroom about how the pot-smoking hippies are making themselves stupid but the honest truth is that a lot of those potheads are smarter than you, smarter than your conservative friends and smarter than anyone in your family. I hate to burst your bubble (well, not really, I kind of like to...) but I'm sure that I can write a better post stoned than you can straight.
Was this posting intended to demonstrate how much smarter you are on drugs than a non-druggie?
No. That's likely true but not what I intended.
Do you honestly believe that smoking pot makes you stupid or is that just another conservative meme expressing itself?
I've known enough druggies to know that they definitely are not the sharpest tools in the shed. There's an undeniable correlation between the use of marijuana and other mind-damaging drugs, and low intelligence.
I'll have to admit that cause and effect is less clear than correlation. Did these people start using drugs because they were stupid to begin with, or did they become stupid because of the drug use? I have to admit that I cannot say for sure. Most likely, some of both.
it accentuates the stupidity of the stupid
it does NOT accentuate the intelligence of intelligent smokers
Yeah like that idiot Carl Sagan, what a druggie
Every burnout in the world thinks that he's highly intelligent. Statistically, the vast majority are wrong.
I am given to understand this is generally true with most mind-impairing drugs, but it seems to be more true of marijuana than of most others; that a person who is under its effects has a greatly exaggerated sense of how well he is functioning, physically, and mentally. He thinks he is being intelligent, and brilliant, while any sober observer can see that he's just acting like a drugged dumbass. It's particularly an issue when a drug-impaired person tries to drive a car or otherwise perform a potentially-dangerous activity. It's bad enough that he is doing so in an impaired state, but in that state, he doesn't perceive his own impairment, and believes he is doing as well or better compared to when he is sober.
I disagree.
I would estimate at least 20% of people see a net increase in effective creativity.
And probably twice that see a net decrease.
Universal panacea it ain't.

Probably much better than 20%, actually, see “…a net increase in effective creativity.” However, they are “seeing” this from a drug-impaired state, which gives them a distorted and exaggerated perception. To a sober observer, he's just another dumbass.
