Let's not forget, we're talking about a book that takes the time to condemn haircuts and working on Sundays, but doesn't have a sentence condemning slaverly.

Moderator's Warning:
What the hell does this have to do with government spending and debt? Moving to Sex and Sexuality.

I couldn't care less what Jesus said on the subject. But of course, me not being a Christian is probably the deciding factor in that.

*snort*

*Rips the entire book of Exodus out of the Bible* . . .

he didn't say a damn thing about it. never once, Paul talked about straight men sleeping with men the cheating on their wives and women that did the same thing. but homosexuality wasn't even mentioned in the New Testament.

Picking and choosing. I'm talking old testament.

Like anything, the Bible needs to be understood in context. Don't get your opinions about the Bible from atheist websites. There's tons of scholarly info out there to give you a realistic view of why the Bible says what it does.

The morality of the Bible is pretty much a time capsule of the time in which it was written and was based on absolutes.

The morality of today is based almost entirely on relativism.

The comparative wealth of the average guy makes this possible. If the health and welfare of the society was defined by a razor's edge as it was then, the rules would be more strict.

Oddly enough, if we can successfully destroy the economy to the point where the debt is too big to pay and the industry has been chased away, the folks that endorse both the expansion of the particular freedoms they like and the shrinkage of the wealth makers they detest, the conditions for the spread of relativism will evaporate and the spread of absolutism will recur.

Unintended consequences are the only predictable real results of the master social planners.

Sodom and Gomorra.

Christians don't read the Bible they just believe what they are told because it is tradition.

Nonsense. Although some do use selective passages, taken out of context, to make some fairly wild assertions. ;)

My reason for saying such is the below quote
Sodom and Gomorra.
Sodom and Gomorra had nothing to do with homosexuality. A complete swing and miss.

You may be an exception.

Exactly. That was to teach that an entire society ignoring "right" and simply letting lust/greed/sloth take control will not work out well. Zooming in one one "sin", committed occasionally and by only a few was not inculded in that story. SSM will neither cause the collapse of society nor affect anyone else. SSM is good fodder for some good old God fearing ranting though. ;)

prior to Jesus? This was about what Jesus said.

Sodom and gomorra were cities, they were destroyed because they wanted to rape angles.

Pathetic how little you know about the Bible.
I also remember part where the only christian offers his daughter to be raped in exchange for the angels not being raped. How moral.

I am beginning to think the ranting is just sinners attempting to put the least common "sin" (no biblical support that it is) at the top of the lists of badness so their sins don't look less than righteous. Its a little brother tactic, a rather transparent one.
