Do you think our CIA should ever lead a coup in a foreign country to overthrow an elected leader to replace with a monarch?

With a smaller DoD footprint the medical housing etc costs would also be lower. Your point?
My point always is that exactly, yes. Obviously.

Indeed, others know simple subtraction yet you do not know that others know this. So here you are asking stupid questions. This deficiency exists for whatever bizarre reason. You're actually asking your superfluous question that doesn't need to be asked because the answer is clear already to a 5th grader. Smaller equals less in this instance in particular. No one needs to be asked this common knowledge. So as I noted you continue to say nothing. And ask superfluous nothing questions besides.

Because it's the implications and adverse impacts on the national security and global stability that you don't discuss or recognize. Everything you post is vague and notional absent impacts and effects of "a smaller DoD footprint." While your posts speed by fast it's still easy to see you haven't any tags or numbers.

Putin and Xi love it. The number one foreign and military policy of each of 'em, Putin and Xi Jin PingPong is to separate US allies and strategic partners from the USA. Both Putin and Xi loved Trump for this unholy confluence and wanted him back again for another -- life -- term. Yep Trump's their guy. All three of 'em as they together have the same pursuit, means, goal: isolating the USA from its allies and strategic partners. You don't address this. You rather insist on being vague and notional only about numbers you haven't any clue of.

From your initial whimpering of freedom is not free, I've pointed out that freedom is not as expensive as we make it. The US overspends on defense. Period.

Spoken ex cathedra.

As we are witnessing vividly in Ukraine the USA is the hub nation of democratic global allies and fully signed up strategic partners such as democratic India to name but one big strategic military partner. US is and needs to be prepared for any eventuality and contingency, expected and unexpected. Since the barbarian Putin invaded democratic Ukraine the Pentagon has been ready and capable to supply and support Ukraine with advanced weapons and high technical training personnel, training facilities to include in the USA, cash assistance and the ongoing commitment of US allied nations in Europe and out to Japan, South Korea, Australia/NZ.

Alas "period" means the end of -- no more. The final word about the end of. Issued vaguely, notionally, arbitrarily and in a summary manner. In another single word, recklessly. Bonus word: irresponsibly.

I see that Ramble On is more than a Led Zeppelin song.

Let me clarify my point. The American DoD is substantially larger than needed to maintain global military superiority. Are you still with me?
Pick up your Econ 101 text and look up the guns and butter scenario. Other countries leaders are pleased to see the US overspend on defense and underspend on domestic issues. The only way China or Russia get over on America is if we fall from within. The current DoD size makes that more likely.

I remember the real "guns and butter" from LBJ, the Great Society & the Vietnam War. It's not some imaginary talking head scenario or from a book only as you suggest.

It's 60 years on and we're all still here. VN in fact has become a fully signed up Strategic Military Partner in the western Pacific, the South China Sea and is opposed to the CCP DictatorTyrants in Beijing and their wholly owned and operated -- and failing -- PRC. Hanoi in fact reconstructed its big naval base at Cam Ranh Bay on the SCS to accommodate US aircraft carriers and the carriers of US allies such as India, UK, France and, eventually, Japan.

And we still have Medicare and Medicaid from the Great Society as well as the Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Department of Transportation. So I would straightout say at last you really need to find out soon what you're trying to talk about. Either that or you just don't recognize what's going on with your vacuous posts.

Because it's absurd too to try to say the DoD budget will lead to the self induced destruction of the USA. That silly stuff suggests difficulty figuring out North from South too. And as is often the case things that are absurd can also be funny which is the best way to tag your posts on the DoD budget being self destructive of the USA. Then there's your OTT about China where they're going broke at a steady speed with no glass to break in an emergency. Only glass jaws instead. The Chinese have always been grandiose and overbearing or don't you know. Right before the fall. Each high and mighty dynasty in China has failed as this one is doing now and already. Or don't you know.

......which just goes to show that the militaristic approach in Vietnam was ****ing pointless.

Talking head scenario? It is a fundamental truth about economics. The more an economy spends on guns (DoD), the less the economy has to spend on domestic needs. A lack of funding domestically is far more likely to lead to the downfall of the US than any armed invader.

I just posted to you about the real life "guns and butter" of LBJ, The Great Society and the Vietnam War. Yet you ignored this and made no reply to it. So what I post just bounces off you while you come back again with the same discredited formula and principles that are meaningless to the US economy. Other cliches you haven't used yet are trickle down and the ever glib a rising tide lifts all boats.

USD is the global reserve currency in the forex market and the USD is the dominant currency of global trade. It's predictable you can't accept these facts either so I'll be moving on now thx anyway for your unwelcome and nagging attention. I've exploited your posts to make larger points yet given you're saying the SOS only I consider I'm done now so thx again for providing a platform.

Real life of half a century ago? Why would I respond to that? Try to apply it to today.

I don't use trickle down and a rising tide because they are lies. The dollar being the global reserve currency is not applicable here either.

Are you arguing for greater DoD spending?
