I don't believe in the death penalty. I believe in rehabilitation rather than simply locking someone up for life. I guess that would make me "soft" on crime. Yet I also believe we let too many baddies get away with shit. Whether it is repeat offenders who should NOT be on the street or white collar criminals who do get away with law breaking. So by that wouldn't you say I am "hard" on crime?

Please people, don't fall for this tripe. It's just the kinda of BS daily being spread by Fox and Rightwing media. No one is "soft" on crime because they have different approaches. Clearly the HARSH approach isn't working since the US has among the highest incarcerated population in the world (per capita).

It's just not true. But in broader terms, our society's take on crime is pretty stupid. The Republican version of being "tough on crime" is the same failed system that's been in effect since forever. Defund the police was actually about giving them more tools to deal with the public, just stripping them of all this militaristic bullshit that has nothing to do with protecting and serving.
