Re: Do you support tax dollars going to Planned Parenthood for non-abortion related s

But you abortionists act as though planned parenthood is the only providing these non-abortion services that they get tax dollars for.

I've never seen anyone make that claim.

The fact is that many PP clinics are in poorer neighborhoods where such services not available. Of course there are other service providers in better off neighborhoods dealing with higher income populations and providers that don't accept medicaid.

The question isn't "are there other service providers" the question is "are their other service providers in the locations that provide the same types of services and accept the same types of payment options?"

Lursa said:
Sure I do. Never said that PP doesn't provide those services either, reguardless of how infrequently.
What other services do you imagine they provide *once a woman is pregnant?*

As I wrote, overall abortion accounts for about 12% of their services.

Hmm, this number is even lower, I thought I'd seen 12% somewhere:

Planned Parenthood, by the numbers - CNN.com

You may have wrote it, but these are coming directly from PP's own annual reports:

abortion procedures (327,653)
prenatal services (18,684)
adoption referrals (1,880)

Given these numbers from PP's own annual report, as asserted by the article, your 12% number doesn't add up.

An order of magnitude more abortions than prenatal services, and an order of magnitude more prenatal than adoption referrals.
2 orders of magnitude difference between adoption referrals and abortions.

The most numerous service that PP rendered to their patients is abortion, by a huge margin. How can that fact be dismissed?

LOLOL

The list of their services was way longer, so please explain your math. The CNN article actually said 3% for abortion. Didnt you even read it?

Yes- I am prochoice meaning I support elective abortion being legal
No- I am pro-life meaning I oppose elective abortion being legal
Yes- I am prolife meaning I oppose elective abortion being legal
No- I am prochoice meaning I supporting elective abortion being legal

Elective Abortion -- Medical Definition
1. an abortion without medical justification but done in a legal way, as in the United States.

As long as they provide abortions, it increases funding potentially going there.

No!

I believe killing innocent life is murder.

Re: Do you support tax dollars going to Planned Parenthood for non-abortion related s

Abortion is so low on the totem poll for me, that I do not consider it in my choice when voting for President or even in daily life. However, I would support ending funds to Planned Parenthood. They can get donations from the Democrats if they really needed the money, but to give them my money when I am a single but dating young male, is sort of ridiculous. How Planned Parenthood operates (aside from the videos) shows how close they are to the Democrats.

I am a firm believer in charity. I donate to the causes I agree with. I don't like our governments voting to spend tax dollars better spent else where, even for causes I believe in.

Here's the deal people. If you support something, show that with YOUR MONEY! Donate to such places. Simply write them a check.

Stop asking for the government to confiscate "other people's money" to support your agenda.

Then write them a check, and get all your friends that have the same viewpoint, do the same.

We can't afford to keep spending tax dollars on such things.

Medicaid money is reinbursed for Medicaid services.
Planned Parenthood provides Medicaid services and is reinbursed for those services just as private doctors and other clinics that provide Medicaide services are reimbursed.

I stated my viewpoint, and I do not support them. Period. I will change my mind if they stop providing abortions.

Why not? Planned parenthood helps to reduce abortions, and abortion rates are going down thanks to birth control, sex education, "socialist" welfare programs..

You identify as pro life, planned parenthood reduces abortions. It is a fact that restricting abortion does nothing to stop it. Why not support planned parenthood? Do you want more abortions?

Well we have already established that you are not paying for elective abortions.

So are you saying you dont want to pay for any reproductive health services, family planning, subsidized birth control, etc?

Cuz it will cost you alot more if such things are not supported with tax $.

US taxpayers save $7 or every $1 the govt spends on family planning

U.S. Taxpayers Save $7 for Every $1 the Government Spends on Family Planning

I see you have to rationalize things.

I am very heavily taxed compared to the average citizen. Are you trying to say none of my money goes there?

To PP? Yes very likely. But not to elective abortion. Have you been reading Minnie's posts? She's been explaining and including links.

And I'm single with no kids and I get taxed like you wouldnt believe. Don't whine. Not producing unwanted, unaffordable kids reduces both our taxes...if you're going to complain about that aspect.

Well of course they are. I didn't say they weren't.

However, I notice that you've got nothing when it comes to the vast number of abortions as opposed to anything else, at least an order of magnitude more abortion procedures than anything else they offer in services.

Thanks for proving my point.

As I said, it hard not to come to the conclusion that PP is little more than a largely government funded abortion mill.

No, I said you missed much of the list. Is there some reason those dont all add up?

And your last sentence has zero foundation in fact...unless you can provide it? It's just what you want to believe because you've been sucked in by dishonestly edited videos, conversations out of context, and a heavy bias against abortion that limits your perspective

You know, if it was even close, I'd give it to you. But when it's 1 to 2 orders of magnitude difference, that's not within the margin of error. That's a huge, massive difference.

Since the numbers come from FacktCheck.org, and were taken from PP's own annual report, it's got nothing to do with any "heavy bias against abortion that limits your perspective".

Planned Parenthood’s Services

I think the heavy bias pro abortion seems to be pretty clear.

I think it's pretty clear and pretty fair to call PP a largely government funded abortion mill.

Since factually no tax dollars go to elective abortion, you are still wrong.

And did you look at the entire list of services provided? It's not as you claim.

Exactly what numbers are you looking at???
Abortion
Planned Parenthood says 3% of the services it provides are abortions.
327,653 abortions were performed in 2013, according to Planned Parenthood.

Sexual Education

Planned Parenthood says it provides sex education to 1.5 million people each year
Pregnancy Prevention and Birth Control

Planned Parenthood says it prevents an estimated 516,000 unintended pregnancies per year
Contraception accounted for 34% of the services it provided, according to a GAO report released in March that looks at data from 2010 through 2012.
Further breakdown:

reversible contraception patients (2.1 million)
emergency contraception kits (1.4 million)
vasectomies (4,166)
female sterilization procedures (822)
Pregnancy tests -- 1.1 million tests done in 2013

Prenatal care -- provided to 18,684 people in 2013

Sexually transmitted disease screening and treatment

Planned Parenthood say this accounts for 42% of the services provided. (The GAO calculates 41% in 2012 by affiliates)
4.5 million tests and treatments provided in 2013.
This represents the largest proportion of medical services provided
Pap smears (cervical cancer screening) -- 400,000 per year

Breast exams -- 500,000 per year

Abortion/referral is far far from the primary service they provide.

Your own link proves you wrong. And you said "at least an order of magnitude more abortion procedures than anything else they offer in services."

From your own link you said 327,653 abortions and nothing else comes close, yet the link says:

4.5 million tests and treatment for sexually transmitted infections
3.6 million contraception related services
935,573 cancer screenings including breast exams and Pap tests
1.1 million pregnancy tests and prenatal services

You claim abortions are "orders of magnitude" (which is usually expressed as decimal * 10 raised to a power). Not only are abortion services anywhere close to other services in terms of "orders of magnitude", those other services exceed the number of abortions. Rendering the "orders of magnitude" claim incorrect.

The figure comes from adding together the numbers Planned Parenthood did provide for its abortion procedures (327,653), prenatal services (18,684) and adoption referrals (1,880), and then dividing the number of abortions by that cumulative figure (348,217). The 94 percent figure is also used by groups that oppose abortion, such as Americans United for Life, which said in January: “According to its most recent annual report, abortions were 94% of its pregnancy-related services (abortion, adoption referral, and prenatal services).”
Planned Parenthood’s Services

Got those numbers from here, and if you line them up:

abortion procedures (327,653)
prenatal services (18,684)
adoption referrals (1,880)

They are an order of magnitude different. But, as Lursa pointed out, it's not the complete list either.

PP get's around 1/2 Billion from the government in the form of grants. This isn't public money? It's not tax dollars? Could have fooled me.

How many times do you have to read that that money is not allowed to go to abortions and is spent on the other services, by law?

You have already proven that you practice 'selective' reading. I suggest you try harder to comprehend this issue.

If your babysitter had a husband that was a child molester, would you keep using her services? It's not her molester your children...

Regardless of the specified use of money, I don't want any tax dollars going into that hands of evil people.

No they don't. In 2014 they received 528 million, some of which was in grants, but that figure also includes reimbursements for medical treatment.

https://www.plannedparenthood.org/files/6714/1996/2641/2013-2014_Annual_Report_FINAL_WEB_VERSION.pdf

Of that figure 75% are for reimbursements under MedicAid meaning only 25% is grants or 132 million. Medicaid and Title X server primarily the poor.

Wow, that's a stretch...."oopsie, I went to have a breast exam and they 'accidentally' gave me an abortion."

That's about how rational your comparison was.

Your biases are set in stone, no doubt there. All those other services that go to family planning, birth control, women's health...but you call them evil. So much for any moral High Ground you might *think* you have.
