What? Feeding a baby in public is a public spectacle? As for rules of gracious behavior, are we still living in the last century here or what?

It may not be a public spectacle to you....................................but, it could be to others.
The question is, would the mother be able to deal with it, if she becomes a spectacle?

Some mothers are considerate of other's sensibilities (or perhaps, even their own), thus they cover the feeding with a blanket.

Let me ask you:
would you find it offensive if an adult (who can't help it because he's got to go), just pulls down his pants
and defecates in a public bus?
I know of a woman who had diarrhea (and sat on it), while riding the bus!
She could've just squated down the aisle! :) I think - we can all emphatize with how that must feel.
Would you still say, "As for rules of gracious behavior, are we still living in the last century here or what?"

Does values like, "having consideration for others," have to change?

No you couldn't legitimately because defecating on a public bus violates not only laws but also is highly unsanitary. It spreads disease and requires cleanup and then extensive cleaning be done.

Breastfeeding is not unsanitary and doesn't require any more cleanup (probably less so) than other eating.

Would breastfeeding have fallen along the law regarding "indecent exposure" in the last century?
My point - laws can change.

Well, sometimes it can't be helped. #126.

Seriously? Not even remotely the same thing. If you want to be a prude then go ahead and be a prude, the rest of us will take life as it is.

As an adult, you should be able to control your bowel movements in public. If you can't, then you should probably wear protection. You are an adult in public. Feces, defecation does harm, is unsanitary.

Breastfeeding does no one harm and is not unsanitary (unless the woman is shooting her milk out in streams, which isn't actually breastfeeding then). This stupid comparison is a major fail.

If my urinating in public offends you close your eyes.

see how stupid that sounds. How about some basic decency
a mother feeding her baby and urinating in public are two different things and YOU know it, you are just trying to play whataboutism, if a mother feeding her baby offends you just don't look at her, it is THAT easy.

Urinating in public doesn't simply offend people, it is unsanitary. If I happen to come across you urinating in the woods somewhere, I will avert my eyes. But in public, in the places we are discussing, breastfeeding is not at all the same. Urine and feces are waste products, breast milk is not.

No they are both private functions that if planned properly should be done in privacy

It has nothing to do with me being a prude.

I gave a logical statement:

I can't believe the reactions we are getting on this topic, it is like we are living in medieval times, I wonder WHY anyone would be so offended by a breast feeding mom unless ........... well I don't want to say because it would be unkind.
AND THEN to make the comparison to bowel movements is JUST a deflection and a whataboutism because they are too embarrassed to admit that they are SO easily offended.

Urine is nearly sterile. GTFO with your anti-science bullshit. Go peddle it at a Trump rally

Can't the breastfeeding mother cover herself, as a gesture of consideration for the sensibilities of others?

Why do I have the feeling that some of you folks want all or nothing?
Lol - there is no room for compromise?

a teenage girl with pink hair, nose rings, covered in tattoos, her bellybutton showing and wearing black lipstick might seem like a spectacle to me, SO WHAT? look away if you are offended, you want to act high and mighty and impose YOUR MORALS on someone else. sorry to inform you of this, but unless it is illegal, it isn't any of your business.

Wrong. You are peddling the antiscience here.

While some urine samples contained very low bacterial levels, the bacterial presence alone indicates that urine isn’t sterile.

No. You aren't expected to eat with your face covered so neither should babies be expected to eat that way. Some babies will not eat that way either.

Your sensibilities are your own. Don't like it, then don't look. It really isn't that hard and a great compromise.

....so, you saying........................... it's okay to ogle then?

I can't speak for all men - but "breasts men" or, maybe even some women - could find it sexually stimulating.
Not to mention for some teens with raging hormones - lol, we're talking PLAYBOY PIN-UP - up close and personal! :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

That's okay then - to turn breastfeeding into a sex object?

No problems at all with women breastfeeding in public. However, it is not something I ever did or would ever do. I am just too old fashioned I guess.

Again, that is simply inappropriate because whoever is doing it isn't doing something that needs or should be done. You are technically free to ogle anyone in public. It doesn't make it appropriate or something you should do.

ah, there we have it, you are afraid of your oogling, not the breast feeding, as for me, I would not oogle, if you want to oogle, then you are the guilty party, not the mother. if other people want to oogle, well, I am sure they would oogle the teenage girl I mentioned, who knows, they might even oogle you.
if you are THIS easily offended you might want to consider restricting yourself to home and not going out, because you might see a gay couple kissing, or a scantily dressed teenager, or a fat person picking their nose, or a mother breast feeding her baby, I mean the world is such a frightening place why would you want to venture forth?

you can have the last word, cheers.

Lol - if exposure is appropriate - why is looking inappropriate?
If a person is sexually drawn to breasts - it's just as normal for him to look and ogle!

Well - it happens. We see men ogling at women in bikinis, don't we?

I'm not talking about you. I'm talking about men - or women - who are sexually stimulated by the sight of breasts.
Some are stimulated by a JLo size butt, some are stimulated by feet - it's called a fetish!

Lol - if exposure is appropriate - why is looking inappropriate?

Ogling is inappropriate because you are doing it for some sort of sexual feelings, gratification. You admit it here. The person "exposing" themselves, especially while breastfeeding, isn't doing anything sexual. You or whoever is ogling, staring for sexual attraction, is the one making it sexual. The same is true if the person is getting off by looking at a woman's lips or eyes or a guy's chest (even clothed in a shirt) or arms that they find sexually attractive.

And that is still inappropriate to stare. Inappropriate doesn't mean anything when it comes to legality.

Inappropriateness is subjective, isn't it?
Some find breastfeeding in public, inappropriate.

If it's not illegal to stare - I suppose it's okay then.
You can't tell a person not to look at something you're showing in public.
