School administration is always pretty conservative. The faculty is liberal. Liberals will teach other people how to do things. Conservatives hang on to and protect special knowledge as "job security". They invented: "Nice guys finish last."
Anyone who has been out working in the world, then gone to school to reinvent themselves will see this as plain as the day is long.
I have always taught others things that I know how to do. Yes, even today in the working world. It did bite me one time when the guy that I trained to do everything stayed on while I was let go. He may have been cheaper to keep during hard times. He's still a good friend of mine.
All of the secret keepers were let go as soon as the new owners took over. They just gave their computers to those of us that stayed to do the work of two or more employees.
Um Duh? Every study of the modern education establishment, poll, and other form of measurement that we have says that Education is extremely dominated by liberals.
Sorry I read the question as "Do you believe in a school system run by Liberals?"
I'd like to change my vote to YES and add that we are doing a disservice to our children and the country by allowing them to be brainwashed into the Leftist agenda.
Do you believe that the school system is ran mostly by liberals?
wut?
i have run offices, and businesses for a LOT of years
we are constantly adapting our systems, our software and hardware, to keep up with today's very competitive business world
every person is cross trained to do not only their job, but cover at least two other desks for vacations, emergencies, etc
no one comes back to a desk piled high....and vacations are a MUST....gives me time to find out if anything is amiss in your area
that is not liberal, or conservative thinking
that is freaking common sense in today's business world
the day i have to worry about training my replacement is the day i need to walk out the door
not sure where your point of view comes from, but it is very biased, and very wrong
Do you believe that the school system is ran mostly by liberals?
By their own description, 72 percent of those teaching at American universities and colleges are liberal and 15 percent are conservative, says the study being published this week. The imbalance is almost as striking in partisan terms, with 50 percent of the faculty members surveyed identifying themselves as Democrats and 11 percent as Republicans.
In case you didn't notice, I voted yes.
I never worried one bit about training my replacement. It was my pleasure to help another individual to succeed.
My post was certainly not intended as an invitation for you to tell us how great thou art. "Freaking common sense"? It sounds more like ISO qualifications to be a horizontal company.
Oh, please do tell us exactly what the "leftist agenda" is.
no
your post was another bashing conservatives in a very biased way
i just needed to set the record straight
and i dont give a crap how you voted.....i replied to what you wrote.....period
maybe keep your biased point of view to yourself in some things....ok?
Can you describe what it is that you would consider to be the "bondage of liberalism" in school, such as the high school that your children went to? I graduated high school last May and I am currently in my first year of college and life in school was pretty normal without any noticeable political influence in the halls or classrooms. A lot of the politically driven conversations happening in high schools right now for example are usually student driven without the influence of teachers or administrators. I was involved in student government (treasurer (jr) and vice president (sr)), I was on the debate team which many of the debates were obviously influenced by political events, I was a reporter and eventually an editor for the school newspaper and other school clubs that would have assumed political influence from teachers and administrators but mostly, other than some rules, we acted on our own ideology and ethics.
When I could go to school in a blue state and still wind up "learning" that sex is evil and evolution isn't settled, no, education is not run by liberal thought, which is generally not so anti-science, or pro-ignorance. It's run by the same people as everything else: idiot ideologues and those who are willing to kowtow to them as though they are in any way worth paying attention to for longer than it takes to slam the door in their face and make sure it locked.
as a teen, or a young adult, i hope you see the world in a very idealistic way
most kids tend to do this
as you grow older, and see the world as it actually is, a lot of people change how they feel about certain things
the idealism is replaced with realism
perfect example....taxes
we know that taxes have to be paid
but how much, how they are spent, and who participates are some of the sticking points
we look at government, and again the same things
how much, how much power, whether federal or state level controlled....all sticking points
If You Are Not a Liberal at 25, You Have No Heart. If You Are Not a Conservative at 35 You Have No Brain
again, idealism versus reality....at least that is my take
I think its run by the PC police.Do you believe that the school system is ran mostly by liberals?
I bet those areas where the school system is run by conservatives are dragging the national average down. Imagine where Texas would rank on this table...
Educational Score Performance - Country Rankings
It wasn't the schools as much as Austin TX. itself. High bills for everything [taxes, utilities, general cost of living, etc.], onerous regulations and permitting. [to the point where some businesses have either quit expanding or have moved to other locations] making the citizens subscribe to all sorts of 'progressive schemes with astronomical costs.
However the schools did have a greater number of like-minded Leftist morons teaching their ideology. Many of those could no longer afford the urban scene and forced to the 'burbs'.
Do you mind me asking where you went to schools and where you are now? PM if you like.
My early childhood was in Wales actually, so not here in the US, but from about just before middle school on I went to school here in Florida, a mixture of public and private since kindergarten. Probably half of my education was private and the other half public. Currently I attend a private university in Florida.
I guess my question is what exactly is the forced or coerced liberal education that people seem to assume is in the system?
Think you meant Red State. And please don't pretend you know what it's like here in the 'colonies'. 8)
I think its run by the PC police.
I'm an American, dude. So yes, I do. I was in that sad excuse of an educational system. There's a whole world, you know, and some of us Americans go other places.
But it's not like anyone really needs to have been in the American education system to see how backwards it is. All you have to do is look at America's educational ranking compared to other developed nations, or the way adult Americans (fail to) answer questions like, "How are babies made?" It's embarrassing.
