Disney and ABC hit with FCC investigation over DEI policies

Don't look now but someone has been hit with an investigation. 👌

Looks like Disney and ABC may have been violating FCC Equal Employment opportunity regulations.

The Federal Communications Commission is investigating ABC and parent company Disney over its diversity, equity and inclusion actions, FCC Chair Brendan Carr announced Friday on social media.

In a letter to Disney CEO Bob Iger, Carr wrote that he wants “to ensure that Disney and ABC have not been violating FCC equal employment opportunity regulations by promoting invidious forms of DEI discrimination.”

“For decades, Disney focused on churning out box office and programming successes,” the letter said. “But then something changed. Disney has now been embroiled in rounds of controversy surrounding its DEI policies.”

 
So, promoting diversity violates equal employment opportunities?

I'm pretty sure the Latinos who voted for Trump voted for lower inflation, not this BS. This is a very unpopular agenda that Trump is chasing. He'll pay for it in the midterms.

The entire goal of MAGA was to weaponize the government and go after anything or anyone who doesn't properly worship Trump.

My thought's exactly. They are not government entities. They are privately run companies. They can hire and fire who they please.
 
Race and gender preferences in hiring is a huge no-no. Biden's DOJ was looking WAY the other way. No more.

I suspect that Disney will be accused of discriminating against 40-something white guys.

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is responsible for enforcing federal laws that make it illegal to discriminate against a job applicant or an employee because of the person's race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, or related conditions, transgender status, and sexual orientation), national origin, age (40 or older), disability or genetic information.
Most employers with at least 15 employees are covered by EEOC laws (20 employees in age discrimination cases). Most labor unions and employment agencies are also covered.

I wouldn't claim expertise, but as a major employer, I'm sure Disney has plenty of employees of all sorts.

I never saw the would "invidious" before today, I presume they chose that multiple times because "illegal" didn't apply.

Broadcasters are subject to stricter employment rules than "regular" employers because the Federal government has control of their licenses. The rules are extensive and complicated and easy to run afoul of if you aren't very careful.

 
Oh look, MAGAs using government power to go after companies they don't like. Who would have thought.

Looks like these companies have violated civil right laws and Equal Opportunity. It’s about time. Time to end discrimination across the board.
