Shouldn't there be a law about that?Is it your opinion then that the government can punish businesses for expressing their political views?

Well if not a law maybe a Constitutional Amendment....Shouldn't there be a law about that?
Oh stop - that's such a biased, leading question its embarrassing - attempting to make this one-time, one-business, one circumstance a generic issue. Is it your opinion then that the government can punish businesses for expressing their political views?
...and said law - or constitutional amendment - would prohibit governments from offering businesses special considerations in the first place.Well if not a law maybe a Constitutional Amendment....
At a cost of raising you constituents taxes? I thought the right wing was anti tax?Oh stop - that's such a biased, leading question its embarrassing - attempting to make this one-time, one-business, one circumstance a generic issue.
When the business (Disney) got special incentives - incentives given to no other businesses at the time (or tmk since) - and when that business then later turns on the government that gave them those special incentives by criticizing them then, goodness, yes, the government who was gracious to them back then, has every right to revoke said grace later on.
Is that supposed to mean something here? smhAt a cost of raising you constituents taxes? I thought the right wing was anti tax?
First of all, there are several 100 of these in FL including the Villages, Disney is not unique in that regard. It is unfathomable to me that anyone could hold the opinion that if you enter into an agreement with the government, one that is favourable to both, then you should be forever beholden to the government and never express any disagreement with their policies...that is about as unAmerican as it gets.Oh stop - that's such a biased, leading question its embarrassing - attempting to make this one-time, one-business, one circumstance a generic issue.

It is a thread on taking away their self governing status, which would raise taxes for the residents of Florida. Am I missing something? Is that supposed to mean something here? smh
No Edwin is......and quite a bit I might add.It is a thread on taking away their self governing status, which would raise taxes for the residents of Florida. Am I missing something?
Well stop right there - your premise being that "if you enter into an agreement with the government, one that is favourable to both, then you should be forever beholden to the government and never express any disagreement with their policies" ONLY applies to the company entering into said agreement, and that the government must remain beholden to the agreement, regardless?First of all, there are several 100 of these in FL including the Villages, Disney is not unique in that regard. In no way should the government be beholden to the agreement if it is no longer in the best interests of the taxpayers of FL. However, that is not what this issue is about. The issue is that DeSantis tabled this law in direct retaliation for Disney speaking against his policies. Had it been tabled in a regular manner, including committee hearings, had it been part of their platform before Monday...that would be an entirely different thing. However, that is not what happened. Heck the FL Senate had no idea right up until the day before the legislation was introduced that DeSantis was planning this...and that includes most Republicans. This will knee-jerk reaction and violation of the 1A will come back to haunt DeSantis.Well stop right there - your premise being that "if you enter into an agreement with the government, one that is favourable to both, then you should be forever beholden to the government and never express any disagreement with their policies" ONLY applies to the company entering into said agreement, and that the government must remain beholden to the agreement, regardless?
What manner of fairness is that?
