He is an elected official.. Does DeSantis have the power to remove him?
 
“It all came back to this area here, in the 13th Judicial Circuit in Hillsborough County,” DeSantis said. “And the response that we got was a lot of frustration on the part of law enforcement for criminals being let go and crimes not being prosecuted.”

DeSantis’ order does not cite examples of Warren not prosecuting individual cases. The state has no laws on gender-affirming care that Warren could refuse to prosecute. Instead, DeSantis’ order points to Warren’s public comments on abortion, transgender issues and office policies Warren has adopted.

But Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said at Thursday’s news conference that police have had long-running frustrations with Warren for not prosecuting particular cases.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has suspended State Attorney Andrew Warren for 'picking and choosing which laws to enforce based on his personal agenda,' and has appointed Susan Lopez as his replacement during the suspension.



Warren, who had served the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit, has most recently refused to follow state policy criminalizing abortion in the wake of the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade - and repeatedly refused to enforce laws cracking down on child sex-change surgeries, according to DeSantis.


The liberal state attorney also declined to prosecute 67 protesters arrested in George Floyd demonstrations, and said in 2017 that he would only pursue the death penalty "in the very worst cases," and not where "mental illness played a role."

"We are suspending Soros-backed 13th circuit state attorney Andrew Warren for neglecting his duties as he pledges not to uphold the laws of the state," DeSantis' office said in a statement, per Fox News.

Update: DeSantis sent state police to physically remove Warren from his office, "with access only to retrieve his personal belongings, and (ii) to ensure that no files, papers, documents, notes, records, computers, or removable storage media are removed from the Office of the State Attorney..."

Did their REELECTING Mr. Warren to that office "invariably suck" as well, or were they voicing their preference for the job Attorney Warren was doing for them?

What about DeSantis not even being able to cite any actual wrongdoing by Attorney Warren in that POLITICALLY MOTIVATED removal and the press conference with attendant REPUBLICAN speakers who also did not cite any actual wrong doing by Mr. Warren.

Would you not say that also would "invariably suck" or are you down with the PURE PARTISAN POLITICS of what DeSantis did?

Late reply, but the Soros backed DAs have actually caused deaths and misery with their insane policies. It's a fact, as seen here in Kalifornia multiple times over.

I'm having a hard time believing my eyes. Did a progressive/liberal/lefty just admit that Trump was not a Russian puppet? Maybe there is hope for the left after all. Or, is it that the left now see DeSantis as their biggest threat and have turned off the Trump hate to focus all their hate on DeSantis? Time will tell. I'm hoping for the former but fully expect the latter to be true.

Prosecutorial discretion can be used on an individual case-by-case basis. Warren does not have authority to moot the law by refusing to enforce it against anyone.
