DeSantis says state lawmakers will ‘formally nullify’ Disney’s attempt to thwart state takeover

Walmart can't easily move their big box stores either, so they cut their losses, close them down and open another one somewhere else.
As big and all encompassing as Disney World may be, eventually there will come a point at which Disney has to make a choice between the cost of shuttering their amusement park or suffering the loss of business arising from a fascist dictator who thinks he is entitled to engineer a hostile takeover at the cultural level, i.e. telling Disney how they get to decide the nature of their entertainment.

Don't think for a moment that Ron DeSantis wouldn't try to "nationalize" an amusement park.
I think they will just threaten to shut down temporarily and layoff all 75,000 workers. That will put the ball in Il Duce's court for sure. If he thinks he can build a State prison next to Disney he has no clue. That is a formal declaration of war.

Notice how no one is pretending that this whole thing isn’t about punishing Disney for speaking up against DeSantis.

That is what we want in our politicians… thin skinned assholes who have revenge fantasies.

It's bad business for Disney to continue this fight. They need to kiss and make up.

By doing what? Saying that they absolutely love Florida's legislation and that openly gay people are indeed pedophilic groomers?

This isn’t just about a theme park. This is about 39 square miles that is currently being governed by a corporation that thinks it is above the law.

The law as its made to suit the governor. lol.

Where? Shanghai? It's not happening in Anaheim, Tokyo, Hong Kong or Paris - no room.
They will just shut down until DeSantis wakes up and smells the roses. He has declared war on Disney and they will fight back hard. Throwing 75,000 Floridians on the unemployment line is a great opening salvo don't you think?

Same approximate size as "The Villages" which also operates in a manner sometimes seen as "above the law" if you've ever experienced HOA authoritarianism writ large.
Should The Villages worry about being the next entity on DeathSentence's hit list?
I mean, what if someone in that HOA innocently puts a little rainbow flag on their patio and The Villages decides it's okay?

They already have that. It's called Anaheim.

No other place in the country with all three of those except Florida.
Which is also far more profitable than Disneyland will ever be.

Not if DeSantis has his way. Trading short term losses for long term gains is good business and Iger knows that.

Cut of their nose to spite their face? Lol - not going to happen.

Most folks have no idea of just how crowded Disney is every single day of the year. I'm pretty sure DeSantis does not care about spending my taxpayer dollars going after disney and their hundreds of millions they pay into taxes each year. This is another republican businessman stable genius.

I'd be interested in knowing how much green the crowd spreads around the local economy?

Disney World is a national & international destination. There's got to be hotels, car rentals, restaurants, gas stations, BnB's, and tons of other businesses that profit Disney's visitors.

I'm blown away that those recipients don't push-back against DeSantis' attacks.
