No, it is not actually. In Canada it is considered a very offensive racial slur like calling a black person the n-word.

The local First Nations people here are now the Od'ham.

They used to be called the Papago (eaters of beans) starting with the arrival of the Spanish, but they didn't like that and returned to their old name.

Is "eater of beans" racist? The Od'ham thought so.
