Holder Cites Race In Explaining Scrutiny Of Justice Department Actions | Fox News

Eric Holder is once again under fire from Republicans -- this time for pulling the race card to dismiss critics of his tenure as attorney general.
The attorney general cited race in explaining why a "more extreme segment" of his critics were going after him. "This is a way to get at the president because of the way I can be identified with him, both due to the nature of our relationship and, you know, the fact that we're both African-American," Holder said in an interview with The New York Times.

Really? How pathetic! Those of us who are criticizing and scrutinizing are doing so based on your actions, not on your race. If Obama was white, I'd be pissed off just as much as if he was black (seeing how he's 1/2 and 1/2, it doesn't make much sense to play the race card). It has to do with their actions and their policies. When will the democrats get this? Of course, there are sheeple everywhere who will buy into the race card issue being legitimate, even when it's not.

Essentially, a 'racist' today is someone who advocates austerity or criticizes black or minority politicians (of course it does not apply if they are conservative), rendering the term practically impotent except in the minds of the accusers.

A reasonable rule of thumb is that at least a quarter of those who oppose Obama do so because of his race. To those, "half and half" is most definitely black. 1/5 black and 4/5 white is black too, at least back during Jim Crow.

So, given that, your best strategy would be to ignore Holder's remarks, because there is really no way to win. Furthermore, past generic right wing attacks on Obama's African heritage and alleged Muslim upbringing do little to bolster you claims of "criticizing and scrutinizing actions".

"Be it enacted and declared, and it is hereby enacted and declared, That the child of an Indian and the child, grand child, or great grand child, of a negro shall be deemed, accounted, held and taken to be a mulatto." [and therefore ineligible to "bear any office, ecclesiasticall, civill, or military, or be in any place of public trust or power, within this her majestys colony and dominion of Virginia"].

Ah. A black man sides with other black men? No, that couldn't be your argument.... ;)

I'm not sure what thumb you're using, but I seriously doubt that "at least a quarter" oppose Obama's policies and stances on multiple issues just because of his race. This is nothing short of a red herring, plain and simple. So unless you have some facts to back up such a ridiculous statement, we'll just chalk that up as a complete and utter lie.

Would you like me to link you to every democrat that has ever played the race card? That would be a very long post.

yes, please identify every democrat playing the race card in this instance
my sense is that there is only one who has done so, which undermines the legitimacy of the thread title:
Democrats playing the race card, again!
would want to see whether this is a partisan hack thread or one with integrity ... not looking good for the latter

Chalk it up using whatever inflammatory term you like. An argument can be made to support my claim, but of course facts would be unobtainable unless everyone in the country were to be given a lie-detector test. Bottom line, people like Limbaugh and Beck would not be race baiting their audience if the millions who listen to them did not harbor some degree of racial animosity.

However, I will concede that such racial animosity would not be the sole reason for their opposition (he is, after all, a Democrat), but would argue that it is the reason for the hateful voracity of their opposition (the worst I've ever seen, by far). Which means, to those who would accept my argument, that the race card is already in play.

Well now that the attempt to deflect from Holder's undefensible positions have been attempted, maybe we can discuss his divisive statements.

He didn't say ALL critics were racists. Just the "more extreme segment."

It is impossible to know whether this is true, of course, unless he has examples of what has been said by those critics containing racist statements.

What divisive statements?

I call BS on that. there are a hundred good reasons to believe Obama sucks that have nothing to do with his race

Because it Fox News.

Swing and a miss again there Pete.

The title of this thread says "Democrats", but the FOX News story says "Holder". Sorry to inform you that your FOX News bashing is ill-timed. Your patent answer to everything having to do with FOX News fell short, yet again.

Is that a strawman about a strawman?

No but you appear to be diverting after engaging in a diversion. The fact is, one extreme lefty claimed that lots of people who oppose Obastard do so because he is black. I noted that there are many reasons to oppose Obastard that have nothing to do with his race

If liberals who normally vote for welfare dependency, class warfare and union corruption voted for McCain then maybe race could be seen as an explanation. To the best of my knowledge those who grave nanny government and union corruption didn't do that

This is where I stop taking you seriously.
I found it to be a refreshing increase in the level of bigotry, tending to prove my point ;)

Insert title of the thread: Democrats playing the race card, again!

Mix well, enjoy the delicious irony.
