Democrats: Diversity made 'first 100 hours' work - CNN.com

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The diversity of House Democrats led to the development and passage of an ambitious six-bill agenda in the first 100 hours of the new Congress, Majority Whip Jim Clyburn said Saturday.

"The first 100 hours began a new direction for America under new leadership in Congress, leadership that reflects the diverse vision, experience and values of the American people," Clyburn, a Democrat from South Carolina, said in his party's weekly radio address.

Clyburn outlined the measures House members approved in their first 100 hours, which included raising the federal minimum wage, lowering interest rates on some student loans and expanding stem cell research...

You're ****ing kidding me right? What don't the Democrats know basic adding skills? There first hundred hours was up 716 hours ago.

Okay..... Let me ask you this.

Who was hurt by their odd method of calculating the "First 100 Hours"?????

I don't understand where the outrage about the first 100 hours comes from. They over analyzed. Whoopidee Doo!! It wasn't a "Campaign Promise" (cause they were ALREADY elected when they said it, and they didn't "promise" it).

Honestly, its just something conservatives can use to bitch and moan like a bunch of cry babies about.

The fact of the matter remains, they accomplished an outlined agenda that they stated they would accomplished in the beginning of their time in the majority.

Can you tell me what the big deal about the 100 hours is other than "Well. They said they would do it! Wahhhh Wahhhh!"

It's a crock of ****, they did nothing in the first 100 hours, infact, they went on vacation and watched a football game. I mean why didn't they just go for broke and call it the first 50 hours, or the first 10 hours? I mean it would be just as legitimate as calling it the first 100 hours as in not at all.

A poor response... As I expected...

They passed the legislation (through congress anyhow) that they wanted to pass.. They were able to complete that goal. So, what is the problem again?

Or are you seriously whining about the "100 hours" bullshit?

Don't tell me you are honestly being a little crybaby about some non-issue like that....

What the hell happen to the 5 day work week they promised? They were off again on Friday......

HYPOCRITES!!!!!!!

HYPOCRITES!!!!!!!

Well, it does disturb me that they lied and said they were going to have a 5 day work week, and tried to make it a minor campaign note.

However, I am in no way disappointed that they aren't working 5 days per week. As its something that never bothered me to begin with.

And Im assuming it never bothered ya'll either. Since im certain you all voted for the same "do nothing congress" that we already had.

Of course, out reasons for being concerned about it are differnt, and I don't bring it up cause Im not bothered by it as much. You bring it up just to have something else to whine at bitch about like a bunch of little kids.

Making issues out of non-issues. Let the conservative :2bigcry:ing continue......

Look, I don't give a **** about the "not technically 100 hours" thing or the fact that they didn't keep the 5 day work week promise. The reason why I'm not impressed about this legislation is because none of it is really that big a deal. I mean, come on.

Raising the minimum wage? It was going to happen after the election regardless of who won.

Implementing the 9/11 commission reforms? Great idea, if they had actually gone through and done it.

Stem cells? I'll give them that, though its hardly the most pressing issue of our times.

"Student loan payment rate cuts?" You've gotta be ****ing kidding me, this was one of the stupidest things ever. They managed to convince people that this matters worth a damn, when in reality it doesn't make the slightest difference for the VAST majority of the country and doesn't even really help the minuscule few it helps that much because it simply creates leeway for further tuition increases.

I mean, congrats to them for somewhat "meeting their goals" in the first 100 hours. I just think it was a pretty damn low bar to hurdle.

If it's a non-issue then why are the parading around the whole "100 hours," when that is infact a blatant lie.

Because, as korny as it sounds, they "calculated" it differently than you.
And yes, they cheated.

But can I ask why you are making such a big deal about it? Its a really dumb thing to get all up in arms about really.

If they want to parade around saying "Yay 100 hours of whatever" then let them look stupid.

The rest of the world knows better.

Well obviously some people such as kidrocks doesn't know better.

I think you need to get out more? The 100 hours they referred to meant the first 100 legislative hours, hours actually spent working in Congress not running time...

BTW - Your ridiculous reference to "a football game" was actually GOP Minority Leader Boehner's request to not have a session that day so HE could attend the OSU - Florida national championship game...another losing day for Boehner!

Your post smacks of petty jealousy and petty made up phoney arguments..scraping the bottom of the barrel to make yourself feel better Trajan? :rofl

HYPOCRITES!!!!!!!
Another uninformed post Navy Pride! If you actually paid attention to the news you'd already know that the Democrats were gathered in Williamsburg, VA for a two day scheduled retreat...just like the GOP had last week...

As a matter of fact even your God, George W. Bush attended the Democratic retreat...

Either you're completely uninformed as to the scheduling of Congress or you're another one of Debate Forum's sore losers who are so bummed out by the Democratic Congress and the great potential for a Democratic presidency that you have to write ridiculous posts calling Dems "hypocrites."

I need to mention Navy Pride that I think your post is the epitome of hypocrisy considering you never once complained about the now infamous 109th "even more do-nothing than the 1948 "do nothing" Congress". You never called them hypocrites or lazy for working the least amount of days in modern American history...

I love it when you post Navy Pride it so revealing....:2wave:

Yes yes, here in Democrat land 100 hours now means 816 hours, I get it. The only thing phoney here are the claim that the Democrats did anything in the first 100 hours since Jan. 1st, they did jackshit.

Yet here you are whining about how they LIED to you and your fellow democrats...............why would it be such a big deal that they lied? Lying and democrat go hand in hand...........just take a look around here............

They didn't lie to me cause I never heard them say that.... ROFL.
And, for the dummies out there... there is a difference between them not having said it, and me not having heard them say it.
why would it be such a big deal that they lied? Lying and democrat go hand in hand...........just take a look around here............
I have taken a look around here.... and all I can see are a bunch of crybaby *** republitards whining like a bunch of faeries.

Yes this is typical of the mods here.....they can do and say as the please yet warn you when you attack them back you get a warning and threatened with a ban........

You would think a mod would know better than this and would at least try to follow the rules here.............yet Caine has stepped on over to the dark side........

But can I ask why you are making such a big deal about it?

Like you, I couldn't give a rat's a$$ about the 100 hrs...but as for who is making a big deal out of it...look to the dems. It MUST be a big deal, since it was them that brought it up in the first place, making a promise they had no intention of keeping.

Let's see, the very first 100 hours of the Democrats in power would consist of at least, at the very least, 50 hours of sleep for the Democrats would it not?

Consequently, according to some critics here, the Democrats would really only have 50 hours (in their first 100 hours) at the very least to work in their '100 hours agenda', not really fair is it?

No, it was 100 hours of actual work, 100 hours on the clock, so to speak, that, is what most rational minds would conclude. End of discussion! Class dismissed!

No it wasn't the first 100 hours which they were supposed to be working, they started and stopped the clock at their own discretion, "the first 100 hours," claim is a farce and is meant for our poor diluted friends on the left. Oh there's one now.

I was completely unaware that I am a moderator.......
*checks his status*

Nope... Not a moderator.... just a "TRUE DEBATE" Moderator.

Which basically means I help administrate the true debates, and thats about it.

So what were you saying again?????

You have still failed to explain why anyone in American should care about this petty "100 hours" scheme...............
