Democrats disgusting history.

Don't need to. The amount of reaction I'm getting from a post revealing the disgusting nature of Democrats is Very VERY satisfying.

Ew.

We get it now, you're here to be satisfied, and the facts and history have nothing to do with it.
US Message Board is "that way" ➡️➡️➡️➡️ 😆

My face when I realize I guessed correctly that you watch Dennis Prager.

The Democrat Party really comes away from this looking very VERY bad.

Ew.

You left out the part where those Dixiecrats became Republicans as they did not want to support the 1964 Civil Rights Act

I can match your history ANYDAY

It was my major in University

PragerU isn’t just fake news, it’s dangerous

I could do this all day long, there are dozens of reviews of PragerU, not that I need any of those sources, because - unlike so many Righties - I have a functioning brain and know a BS source when I read it.

Yes, to underline your disgust you should refuse to avail yourself of any of the modern world reforms and benefits democrats have taken the lead in providing: Social Security, Medicare, the ACA, workers and women’s rights, etc. Stand up for what you believe in.

Republicans shouldn't be so modest.

Nearly all ultra-conservatives lie, especially about Southern politics.

1960 :

"... October 26, 1960
At home in Atlanta, Coretta King knew nothing of her husband’s ominous ride. She was six months pregnant with their third child, and she had already had an emotional week.

King hadn’t wanted to join the student-led sit-in. But the band of youths, members of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, insisted. The SNCC was well-organized and impatient. Its target was one of Atlanta’s venerable institutions, Rich’s department store; its goal: to desegregate the store’s snack bars and restaurants. The young activists urged King to come along—and go to jail with them—to draw attention to their campaign. King advised the students to hold off until after the presidential election now just weeks away; but the students saw an opportunity to force the candidates to address the issue of segregation. If King were arrested with dozens of young protesters, then both contenders would have no choice but to speak out. “We thought that with Dr. King being involved in it,” said student leader Lonnie C. King, “we would really see where these guys stand.” The students’ passion—and conscience—were impossible for Martin Luther King Jr. to ignore.
...
By dawn, King discovered he had been granted a less evil fate as the squad car turned into the maximum security state prison in Reidsville.

But his danger was far from over. If he were put to hard labor, as the judge had ordered, he would work side by side in a road gang with ruthless white criminals, many of them killers who had nothing to lose and everything to gain—national notoriety and prison respect—by murdering a black celebrity.

On that same Wednesday morning, Senator John Kennedy phoned the governor of Georgia, Ernest Vandiver. Some quiet, back-channel way had to be found to free the civil rights leader. Kennedy was motivated by his outrage, by his sympathy for the King family, and by bald political calculation. In a meeting with Kennedy just weeks earlier, King had urged the senator to take some dramatic action to prove to blacks that his commitment to their cause was genuine. His moment had arrived. If Kennedy were able to play a decisive role in King’s release, the black community was likely to reward him with an outpouring of support. But if he acted on King’s behalf, he risked a vicious backlash from Southern whites. The senator had to walk a fine line: show decency to a black man without alienating the white community..."

This stems from a huge void where American History should be. The Civil Rights Act, The Voting Rights Act, Dixiecrats, The Southern Strategy, all fell into that void and were never seen by conservatives again.

In the second half of the 20th century, the Republican party used the so-called “Southern strategy” to win the votes of white southerners.

White southerners had traditionally been Democratic voters, in part because the Republican party was closely associated with abolitionists and with the civil war and with the post Civil War reconstruction agenda.

The south’s Democratic party loyalty was partially fractured during Franklin D. Roosevelt’s tenure, because many southerners resented his support for unions and for a larger government.

For the most part, though, white southerners continued to vote for Democrats until the 1960s. They were called Dixiecrats.

In 1964, President Lyndon Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act, a sweeping bill that banned segregation in public places and protected Americans against discrimination based on race, religion, or national origin.

The Act was so divisive that after signing it, President Johnson supposedly said: “I think we just delivered the South to the Republican party for a long time to come.”

The Republican southern strategy can, in fact, be traced back to 1964.

That’s when the Republican candidate for the White House, Barry Goldwater, tried out his “operation Dixie,” undertaking a sweeping tour of the south to try and win over white voters.

Should be reposted every time a Trumplican goes on about the past.

Here's a revelation - the Democratic Party did some evil shit in the past. They are still recognizing it and moving away from it. Where is the Trumplican Party NOW, in the present day? Curious that they run back 50+ years looking for a gotcha/distraction from the popular figures and principles that move them today.

They generally promote neoliberalism and the Republicans neoconservatism, but both need each other and those ideologies in order to protect the rich and the U.S. dollar, which is what they've been doing since the Reagan admin.

Here's the thing. Almost every Democrat agrees with the thread topic. Democrats have disgusting history. Unfortunately, Republicans try to lie that means they can accuse the party today of the same things.

A little more to the story. The call happened as a quirk. A couple less senior campaign aides, notable Richard Goodwin IIRC, who were more liberal got the idea and were able to suggest it to JFK who did as they suggested on the spur of the moment.

Robert Kennedy, the campaign manager, was furious. He screamed at them that they might have just lost the election. IIRC he threatened them being in the campaign over it.

But Robert also then made additional efforts, calling the judge in the case, pressuring him that King's life was in danger in prison there and threatening the problems if something happened to him, and got him to release King.

King's father had been a Republican and Nixon supporter, but the events changed his position to support JFK, noting that Nixon had offered almost no support. The events became known to black Americans, and it resulted in a big switch to their supporting JFK.

Guess you have poor aim clicking. "Political Leaning Conservative"
I don't recall seeing an option for me, but I've claimed MAGA since day one.

Nice to meet you, Craig.

Ew.

This video leaves out some very important information. Many Democratic Congressmen also voted for the Civil Rights Act. It wasn't just Republicans. It wouldn't have passed without Democrats also voting for it.

Overwhelming Republican support is what passed the CIVIL RIGHTS ACT of 1964.

Not every Democrat filibustered, but every person that filibustered was a Democrat.

For 75 days. 75 DAYS. That is insane.

These days they act like they wrote the thing.

Filthy. Disgusting.

Rather than watching your shitty youtube, I'm just going to assume this is a cheap shot against the historical Democrat party.

Well the Republican party used to be the party of Liberty. Times change.
I know. The Democrats used to be racist and bad, and now they are merely destroying the America the founders wanted. Illegal immigration without a vow of allegiance to the United States, forgiving loans, giving loans to unqualified buyers, inflation through the roof, high taxation, a drastically weakened military, equity instead of equality.

A majority of the democratic party voted in favor of the Civil Rights Act. It was only the southern democrats who opposed it. The northern democrats voted in favor.

Every single person that fought every major civil rights effort has been Democrat.

Filthy and disgusting.
