Democrats to move forward on gun control:

"Newly-empowered Democrats are poised to push gun legislation once they take over Congress next year, buoyed by gains from new members who took on the NRA – despite cautionary tales from the past.

Democratic minority leader Nancy Pelosi, who is poised to become speaker, has green-lighted the effort...
incoming Judiciary Chairman Rep. Jerold Nadler told the publication Democrats would act quickly on the issue...“It’s very important to us, it’s one of our top priorities. We told the American voters that we do mean to do this, and we do mean to do it,' he said...

...gun control proponents are eager to test whether the climate has changed on the issue.

California Democratic Rep. Mike Thompson is vowing to introduce his bill requiring universal background checks for gun purposes next year.

Gun rights groups are fearful that such legislation could open the door to a national gun registry.

The push comes after some high-profile victories by Democrats in their 40-seat House gain in November.

Among the winners was Jason Crow, who defeated a Republican incumbent Mike Coffman in Colorado, home to the Columbine massacre and the 2012 move theater killings. He was featured in pre-election coverage of Democrats who were succeeding despite earning 'F' ratings from the NRA....

President Trump and the senate will stifle any ridiculous anti-gun legislation
coming out of the house.

They are just spinning their wheel to keep the antis happy.

Gun control has become the new abortion fight, an emotionally loaded distraction designed to keep the rubes in the country from focusing on Americas collapse which has been lead by the incompetent and immoral FAILED INTELLIGENTSIA!

The New Chinese Empire is coming for us, remember that.

Best we keep our Glock 9mm pistols handy then.

The gathering American Police State will eventually remove them, but this that the D's are doing now is mostly an excuse to avoid work that needs to be done.

Colorado is purple moving to blue. That wasn't a surprise. You'd think House Democrats would be smart enough to count the number of Republicans in the Senate and White House to know that gun control is going nowhere, and not smart enough to actually read what the DOJ had to say about "universal" background checks.

Apparently these dunces forgot they have the GOP-controlled Senate and Trump to get past.

Someone should re-educate them on how legislation becomes law.

Nothing will ever compare to the spinning of the wheels like the GOP did with trying to overturn Obamacare. How many votes in 8 years? Call us when any gun legislation goes to that many votes, that many times. And for the record, I think this is a waste of time for Dems to do and there are more pressing matters.

No one is claiming that the Republicans are any brighter when it comes to political displays.

I do not see why Democrats would not champion gun control, it is a wedge issue and has been for long enough. You add that to some arguably negative light on the NRA these days and there could be something to capitalize on.

But like most wedge issues it comes with a risk.

Actually, the smart thing Democrats could do is embrace the 2A and face the reality of the existence of 330 million privately owned firearms. Then they can get to work on addressing society's mental health problems, and enforcing existing gun laws already on the books.
Streamlining and strengthening those laws would also be helpful.

The National Rifle Association is toast, and it's time for liberals to take an honest look at the role of firearms in American life.
Smart firearm ownership and respect for the right to self defense is a natural liberal position.

If Pelosi and the Democrats come up with sensible fun control that would be great. If they continue to pedal the magazine limits, scary black gun ban, and the normal restrictive hog wash I hope they fail miserably

And of course you're probably expecting it to all fall into place in the next twelve months or even six, yes?

Acutually I don't expect anything to fall into place at all. I expect Pelosi and the democrats will try to pedal the same old hogwash about limiting magazine size, requiring long waiting periods, and manitory registrations. All proposals I would stand against.

But why do you need guns for self defense ?
