Democratic Sen. Alex Padilla is forcefully removed from Noem’s news conference and handcuffed

He wasn’t arrested. He was kicked out of her press conference for being a dick, then detained for a short period.

“Being a dick”.

Says the person whose entire political movement revolves around people in it being the absolute biggest dickheads humanly possible.

"Interrupting" sounds like "speech". Speech isn't illegal. The proper legal way to remove a disruptive individual is to have an agent of the venue ask them to leave, and if they refuse, then they can be arrested. That's it.

“Disturbing the peace” also sounds like speech. So does “obstruction” by interrupting a speaker at a public meeting like a press conference. Neither is legal.

As far has how he was removed or what was said to the senator, I can’t tell from the video. Can you provide evidence that he wasn’t asked to leave before being forced to?

Disturbing the peace can't be used to restrict someone's first amendment rights. If you don't want him to speak, someone affiliated with the venue must ask him to leave. Failing that, it isn't any law enforcement officer's job to enforce speech rules.

That video hasn't been released yet. Wonder why.

So, fascism.

We don't arrest people for exercising free speech. Check MTG and Boebert at Biden's SoTU.

What we're witnessing is autocracy, just as Trump promised, and just as you, apparently, support.

When the POTUS lies to the American people about a stolen election, and then takes this lie endlessly to court; when the POTUS demands his VP violate the Constitution, it's pretty goddamed clear to any thinking human that this POTUS is not interested in democracy.

then detained for a short period.

Senator Alex Padilla is the wrong color to ask questions at this news conference.
Noem is well-past her budget, aimed at Blue states, as in Illinois also.
Trump mentally jerks off to his own 1967 burn baby burn summer of riots.
That’s when twinkle-toes and rushbro were dodging the war Nixon kept going in the 50s.
The know-nothings of the 1850’s are now in charge.

Biden and Garland are grade A **** ups for not going after Johnson and other Republican politicians that tried to help Trump over turn the election, because now look.

Johnson wants Padilla censured for being assaulted by DHS extremist subhuman scum while asking a question.

The GOP wants obedience. No dissent allowed.

Your indignation is so full of shit it’s overflowing.

During this press conference, before the Senator was assaulted, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, said Trump's military will remain in Los Angeles in order to, "liberate the city from the socialists and the burdensome leadership that the governor and the mayor have placed on this country"

The military, the military??? The governor and the mayor were duly elected by the citizens of California and Los Angeles. It's up to voters, not the military to decide who they want to be governed by, socialists
🤣
or anyone else.

You couldn't find a more classic example of an autocrat's misuse of his military...

Ice Barbie gets a gold star for fascism. He openly stated he was a government senator and she deemed this to be the best course of action. Pathetic. Congress really needs to wake up.
She deemed this is what trump/vance/miller (and maybe The Heritage Foundation) would want her to do: play to the antidemocratic, pro-authoritarian sentiment that seems to permeate today's MAGAGOP

He wasn’t arrested. He was removed from the room because he thought his question was the most important thing happening at that particular moment.

I support public order. The law. Duty to your fellow citizens. Virtue…. All of these encompass an increasingly lost art: how to properly behave and live in a civil society.

A United States Senator was forcibly "removed" from a press conference held by a member of the current Administration.

He was forcibly "removed" because the Cabinet member cannot handle inconvenient questions? Or because trump/vance/miller knows full well GOP voters support overt displays of Administration thuggishness?

You sure about that? They put him in handcuffs and whined about it being filmed at the end.

🤣

That's what all good fascists say. It's a lie, of course - but good on you for toeing the line.

Sure, trump et al want to escalate this kind of thuggery on the part of the GOP Administration.

It diverts attention from trump et al's ongoing attacks on states' rights and elected officials. It also thrills MAGA members who want these displays of punishment and retaliation against Democrats.
