Democratic Sen. Alex Padilla is forcefully removed from Noem’s news conference and handcuffed

I did not believe the GOP would nominate Trump for another go at the presidency. When they did, I didn't believe he could win. But they did and he did. The only thing I almost got right about him was the chaos he would bring with him. Almost, I say, because the chaos is worse than I imagined.

For that I blame Biden's decision to run for a second term. Harris simply did not have sufficient time to polish a winning campaign.

The Democrats are causing the high drama, performative theater. The party of butt hurt sore losers are inciting the summer of love-part 2's "mostly peaceful protests".
.

The fact that Senator Padilla was in the WLA Federal Building at all meant that he posed no threat.

Even in ordinary times there is security at every entrance. This change happened post 9/11.
Evidently the Secret Service/FBI agents thought he could be. Who interrupts a closed press conference just as it begins? Poor judgment on Padilla's part.

Please do some basic research.

If there is a clear trend in Supreme court rulings, it has been in this area. Americans have a RIGHT to verbally hassle any public figure at any venue for any reason. The courts have upheld this right time and time again angering presidents from Nixon to Obama. They MAY NOT physically obstruct, but they can yell, chant, scream or sing Kumbaya.

The President is a "public figure". I can say anything I want about him, in any context and his only recourse is civil action which would never see the light of day.

And, Americans have a "right", fought for and won time and time again, to express themselves in public.

"Disturbing the peace" was the main weapon of racist cops in the 50's. Try charging these peaceful demonstrators and see what even right wing judges have to say. Even under the Trump regime, Americans have a right to speak freely and openly and say '****"

Your wrong. You don’t have free speech at a private event not open to the general public. It was a press conference for credentialed journalists. He has no constitutional right to interrupt, ask questions, until allowed.

If you go to a Trump rally paid for by Republicans, if you cause trouble, you can be removed at their convenience.

DeSantis is OK with driving over protesters.
A FL sheriff says he going to kill them.
Missouri is in a state of emergency
The government phase arrested a Confressperson and cuffed a US.senator
The National Guard and the Marines have been dispatched in CA.

All over Trump's mass deportations that he is claiming are now going too far.

Is this really the country we want?

I thought you people hated those who act like Kings.

Padilla is not a King. He rudely interrupted Kristi Noem who was speaking. At the 4:56 mark, he barges in and tries to be heard. He owes Kristi Noem an apology. Instead, with the Democratic Party's aiding and abetting, he is being seen as the victim. Victim, my ass.

I watched the whole tape. I didn't see or hear Padilla until he had been grabbed. Did something happen earlier, before the tape?

Some number of Democrats and Republicans seem intent on fanning the flames. Earlier this year the centrists at No Labor conducted a conference/symposium attended by members of both parties. I'd sure like to know who attended the bipartisan event. Maybe the true problem solvers are among them.

Indeed, going to press conferences wher questions are answered us a terrible place to ask a question.

Good Lord, the Fiest Amendment should never be exploited for such a nakedly political purpose as the free exchange of ideas.

Otherwise, she could have simply invited him in, offered him a chair.

That's one fake narrative I've been hearing and reading from the Democrats, the mostly anti-ICE camp. People who pose no threats don't rudely interrupt a peaceful, extensively planned briefing being given by the Secretary of Homeland Defense. He claimed her rhetoric was just too much, he had to correct. Who appointed him King for the day? That was not the time or place. If he had something to say, he could have waited until the secretary was finished speaking instead of acting like a complete clod. The people making excuses for him probably have no manners either.

They thought wrong — they knew what checks were involved before entrance was permitted.

The second Alex Padilla announced who he was the goons should have backed off.

Instead, they pushed him, wrestled him to the floor, and handcuffed him.

Noem should have verbally intervened when she heard Padilla announce himself. She knows what he looks like, and his position in the U.S. Senate.

The protocol you suggest isn’t followed by DJT nor his administration when they want to say their piece.

Double standard.

Plus Noem just publicly stated the administration’s aim to render Newsom and Bass politically impotent. Basically, to hell with the voters of California and Los Angeles.

Okay, I suppose, if the next time Boebert and MTG cause a scene they can be shackled.

Nazi shit.
The guy stormed into the room without any credentials.

Answering questions comes after her statement is finished, interrupting 5 minutes into it isn’t appropriate. As no other reporter was asking questions either.

Stick to the thread topic. The man many are defending interrupted Noem's briefing. If a Republican senator pulled that shit, you'd be calling for their resignation.

Happy to agree to disagree.

The irony here's so rich it could butter toast.

I fail to remember the gracious losers of the 2020 election, who sought it wise to choose as their champion in 2024, the butt hurt sore loser who lost the 2020 election then lied about why he lost it.

Why didn't she simply invite him in, offer him a chair and say she'd be happy to answer his question?

If they can muscle him to the ground, certainly they should have been able to guide him to a chair.

The guy is a violence hungry asshole who should just keep his fat mouth shut.

Police brutality reigned during the blm protests. He should focus on keeping his own cowboys in line.
That's a nice opinion. The  fact remains that he didn't threaten to kill protesters.

No, double standard behavior should be noted.

Rules for thee, but not for me doesn’t fly.
Especially when FBI agents are manhandling a U.S. Senator who has every right to be at press conference.

You ask questions at a press conference when the speaker has spoken for less than five minutes? I don't think so.

I suppose only God and Padilla really know what he was up to. From the video at post #269, from her mannerism, I'm not at all certain she knew he was there until the scuffle with the Secret Service/FBI happened. What do you think?
