Dem senator on Trump's 'treason' comments about whistleblower: 'I worry about threats on his life

The problem isn't Trump or the government. Everyone knows Trump is just a bully, all talk and no action.

The problem is one of his idiotic supporters will try to take it upon themselves to do it for Trump.

Well, if you're worried about idiots taking shots at someone just because of political opinion I think you'll find that already happened a couple of years ago.

You don't even know what the topic of this thread is, do you?

President Trump said what is obvious to say: Who is this gossip mongering hearsay attacker divulging national security secrets to Russia and other foreign countries? The response of the Democratic Senator is that anyone who wants to know the identity of any accuser in legal matters always does so to murder the person.

This is the claim: Any person or any defense attorney who asks a prosecutor for a witness list or even wants to be present in court for secret prosecution testimony only does so to have witnesses murdered. NO defendant EVER has the right to know who an accuser is or to question the accuser - and the accuser doesn't have to know anything anyway. 2nd hand secret gossip is enough for a conviction.

THAT is exactly how much of a totally fascist police state the Democratic Party now demands. The Democratic Party has become full corporate-fascists police state and most partisan progressive Democrats - not all but most - are now no different that German Brown shirt and SS Nazis in the late 1930s.

No cite. Your pulling stuff out of your A and or from your political porn stash. As I suspected, you have no point... just a little Godwinesque sensationalism.

You might want to brush up on exactly what an impeachment, since you do not seem to know. It is not a criminal trial; you seem to be measuring it as such. This is not a rape trial --- there is no provision that one must met the accuser. Standards of criminal trials are not relevant to this case. Moreover, Trump can be impeached for no crime at all, just malfeasence, corruption or violating the public trust.

The Whistleblower merely provided the roadmap for the investigation. That said, Trump could be could be impeached tomorrow afternoon on just his own words; or he can be impeached on the Mueller report..... but he is going to be impeached after a full investigation and well laid out, multi-faceted case.

He is in trouble. The republicans are already counting their paces to the nearest exit, as evidenced by the fact that no Republican in the intelligence committee defended Trumps actions, with some even condemning them. I wonder how many DP posters wish to continue to lend their limited credibility to this scum bag of a President. Your call, but he is going to burn you, if not now (which is likely), then someday.

It does appear that other federal officials are in the impeachment cross-hairs as well. I am sure lots of calls have gone out to criminal defense councils all over DC today.

Yeah, I'm glad you brought that up:

Impeachment does not require a trial. Removal does. Impeachment amounts to the political version of an indictment. Do it or dont but stop expecting people to get all worked up over the suggestion of it if you dont have the balls to follow through

The above is a perfect example of gibberish. You can't vote on something that doesn't exist. Do you vote whenever you decide? Or after a political process leading up to that vote had taken place?

The equivalent of a child expecting punishment and begging their parent to beat them in a tantrum.

Democratic officials are now DEMANDING that the laws be changed so that NO ONE can ever know who is making accusations in legal proceedings - and DEMANDING that anonymous hearsay gossip is the basis to find a person guilty of crimes. The Democratic Party is the German Nazi party in the late 1930s - corporate fascism promising socialism in a total police state society.

Somehow I suspect that you may be exaggerating things a bit.

The thinly veiled threat is a concern. Is this a tactic to stop the whistle blower from testifying before Congress? Its not hyperbole when I say it borders on witness intimidation, and obstruction.

The transcript of the phone call definitely does not read like the Godfather. Adam Schiff just decided to make a mockery of the hearing by pretending that it did.

This is a turd that Trump laid. Fox and his surrogates can polish it up, and spin it, but it stills stinks. I am not saying we are in impeachment territory yet, but damn at the very least Trumps actions are completely unethical.

Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) expressed concern for the safety a whistleblower whose complaint is central to the Ukraine controversy after revelations President Trump said the person was "almost a spy."

Trump made the comparison at a private event following the release of a declassified version of the complaint, according to a recording obtained by the Los Angeles Times.

Maybe they'll fly in some of the gun-toting bar hoppers from South Carolina for a hit.

Hmmm

I have already posted a response, but deserves saying twice. This resembles witness intimidation. This President does not have an ethical bone in his body.

He posted on the topic. Of course, you don't.

Most Democrats on the forum now mostly only post like you did and do - as totally submissive, non-thinking cult zealots who, like you in your messages, do not even pretend you care about any issues or have any ability to debate topics. All you do in most your messages is attempt to derail topics to try to stop any intelligent debate to instead just post your personal attacks and TDS ranting.

That all seems to be nothing more than a bunch of nonsensical gibberish because it would appear that you don't have anything else of value whatsoever to offer.

The things in the dossier which were confirmed had nothing to back up any wrongdoing on Trump's part.

Trump defenders come up with the worst lies.
I doubt it. I think he's just part of the cult. Most cult members are not paid for displaying their adoration and devotion to the cult leader.
Nah, I've seen the same tricks for years, before Trump was the nominee.
It's actually a really big difference.
Not when it comes to the intent of making the statement, as you well know and as I said.
Today Trump told every single government employee that if they acted as "spies", they should basically be executed like we did back in the good old days (this is coupled with his "electric chair" remark from the other day). Certainly every employee in the WH got the message loud and clear.

Trump got on that stage and publicly threatened anyone who was a witness to his behavior to keep their mouths shut, or bad things would happen. That's called "Witness Tampering"... and Manafort got extra prison time for doing basically the same thing (only Manafort tried bribing his witnesses, not threatening to kill 'em).
Exactly. But it's not the first time Trump has blatantly and publicly threatened witnesses. He'll keep doing it.

The House of Representatives already had a majority that voted in favor of impeachment hearings. There's little doubt that after today's hearing and disclosures that the number will swell in favor of impeachment. All the House needs is a simple majority of 178 votes to impeach. The Senate is different, where 67 vote are needed to remove him from office. Since there are only 47 Democrats (including the two so-called 'Independents'), it would require 20 Republicans to break ranks which isn't going to happen.

Democrats may get the satisfaction of seeing Trump impeached, but we're all still going to be stuck with him throughout the rest of his term as this won't result in his removal. But it'll weaken him in 2020 enough to cost him reelection, especially if the impeachment vote takes place before the end of 2019 and doesn't drag on into 2020.

178? You are using math for which I am unfamiliar.

I stand corrected, thank you for that. I believe the tally of those voting in favor of holding a formal impeachment inquiry on the day I posted stood at 178 and was growing. The House has 435 members. The bar for opening an impeachment inquiry is lower. There are at least 219 House Democrats who publicly stated support for impeachment proceedings investigation, bringing the total number of representatives calling for impeachment hearings to 220, or just over half of the 435 member chamber. There only needs to be a majority in the House to approve articles of impeachment.

I thought that was what you meant but it was a strange number to me.
