I cant find a thread on this so here is one. It's over now so any input?
Sanders had the best line of the night on tax rates where he said he was not as much of a socialist as Dwight Eisenhower was. That was a terrific line.
However, Clinton clearly emerged as the winner and seemed to have a far greater command of foreign policy issues that Sanders did who at times simply wanted to pivot to other things.

Didn't see the debate but that analysis is totally opposite from what I read in the news Sunday morning, and I'm not talking about Fox News.
Bernie Sanders had the weakest night of the three Democrats onstage at Saturday night’s debate.
That’s according to a survey of the POLITICO Caucus, a bipartisan group of influential strategists, operatives and activists in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada, who weighed in immediately following the second Democratic primary debate.
Story Continued Below
Nearly half of Democrats surveyed said the Vermont senator lost the debate, and only 10 percent of Democrats said he won. Those insiders who said Sanders had the worst night argued that he appeared out of his depth on foreign policy a day after terrorist attacks rocked France. He spent just a few seconds addressing the matter in his opening statement before pivoting to his familiar pitch about the economy, in stark contrast to rival Hillary Clinton, a former secretary of state who devoted her entire statement to the Paris attacks.
“He made a mistake right off the bat in switching from Paris to the economy, and had an uneven performance,” a New Hampshire Democrat said.
"He was clearly not comfortable discussing detail on foreign policy matters," agreed another New Hampshire Democrat.
Others said the self-described democratic socialist made no effort to appeal to the broader Democratic Party, and reinforced perceptions Saturday night that he is unelectable.
Wow. So the left really gets in to debating the fine points, huh?
The debates for the Republicans aren't exactly pretty or full of substance either
As much as I think his policies are ****ing moronic, I do applaud Sanders for looking towards the economy the most. The economy is what matters. It matters a hell of a lot more than what happened in Paris. It affects a hell of a lot more people than were affected in Paris.

A debate on a Saturday night in Iowa in the middle of an Iowa Hawkeye football game. Can you be any less committed to debating the issues than that?

i too, was surprised we had no thread to discuss the event in real time as we had earlier done with the republican debate
if anyone lost, it was o'malley. he did not come off as presidential and with that gravitas we so commonly hear bandied about. after launching quickly into a response it seemed he would have a difficult time getting to a conclusion in his reply. he's clearly hoping for a VP slot. his groping remarks did not serve him well to that end
Sanders' weakest moment was expressing a willingness to again look at the gun bill he voted for that held the gun manufacturers and retailers harmless from litigation. he should have instead explained why he voted for the bill with that content. a rare faux pas for Bernie
hillary got hammered in two directions on one question. she tried to explain the reason she accepted massive quantities of wall street PAC fund donations was because of 9/11 and being the NY senator. someone brighter than i will have to explain why that was a plausible explanation for being in wall street's pocket
at least they did not have some awful singer show up to begin the debate with a cheesey, off-key rendition of the star spangled banner ... otherwise the republican debate was more 'fun'
