Dem debate 2/4/2016

I'd just like to say... STFU Chuck Todd.

Can't wait for Tuesday!

Perhaps. But the disgusting method by which they try to implement their wishes with a ****ing phony grassroots veterans group to make it seem like they are working on behalf of vets when the truth is they are stabbing vets in the back as hard as they can.

Orwellian double speak. The Koch's didn't invent it, but they sure know how to capitalize on it.

How to know who won the debate. Google has a post debate page that tracks searches and after the debate here are the top 5 questions for each candidate:

Clinton
1. How old is Hillary Clinton?
2. Who can beat Hillary?
3. Where is Hillary Clinton today?
4. Will Hillary win?
5. How much is Hillary Clinton worth?

Sanders
1. Where will Bernie Sanders be speaking?
2. Why Bernie Sanders?
3. Who would be Bernie Sanders' VP?
4. How to donate to Bernie Sanders
5. Where can I see Bernie Sanders in NH?

Moderators... Rachel Maddow who I repect immensely due to her self admitted geekiness on politics and the lengths she goes to doing her homework. And there's Chuck Todd... who is professionally lazy and I cannot stand.
Had to miss it, but glad you guys gave me a running commentary to read tonight (post debate).

Thanks!

I'm with you; I'm a big fan of Maddows. She really digs and ties-in the loose ends.

But i do like Chuck Todd. I find his analysis to be pretty good; he's a good numbers guy IMO.

He gets on my nerves especially with that commercial he ran nonstop for a while preaching about how good journalism is all about access. I wanted to punch his nads for being so stupid. When you are a reporter who thinks that access is what's more important, you will only be spoonfed garbage talking points and wont question anything out of fear of loosing access. Chuck is an intellectually lazy moron.

Clinton came out well prepared and ready to hunt bear.... and was very effective especially for the first hour. She seemed to say 'I'm not gonna take it anymore' and stood up for herself. That was effective and made her look strong. I still prefer Bernie - but it was a Clinton night to be sure.

She has absolutely no answer for when Bernie points out her Wall Street funded superpac and her $600,000 wall st speaking fees so what she's come up with as a response is to whine about how pointing that out is an unfair character attack.

She said after crying about that is that they should talk about policy instead... ?????

Getting the corrupting influence of big money out our political system IS perhaps the biggest policy he's been preaching about for years.

She did have an answer, Rob! "I wanted the money" (she didn't say that, but it's the only logical answer).

Where she really lost is when he began to talk about Glass-Steagall and she looked at him glassy eyed like she didn't know what he was talking about. Her husband, as he said, pushed for the repeal of GS. How anyone doesn't remember that is beyond me. Can we put our fingers on kickbacks? No. But for her to pretend she and her husband before her don't adore Wall Street is actually offensive to voters. FFS her ****ing daughter is married to a wealthy hedge fund manager.

I thought Bernie did really well last night.

Can't wait for Tuesday!

You and me both!

We're getting snow here today and most of our schools are closed (in the populated areas anyway). They are forecasting snow on Tuesday which will suck but hopefully that will change. Snow will keep voters home.

Drinking game is drink everytime Hillary says progressive.

You get drunk faster drinking every time she says "but I am a woman". I was not amused when Bernie's accused her of being "establishment", and she answered (paraphrased) "I am far from being establishment because I am a woman".
God help us all.

now she plays the obviously rehearsed card "I'm a woman running to be the first woman president so clearly I'm not establishment". How in the hell does that make any sense?

Sorry, didn't see this post until now.

Doood.... I lurv that Frank Zappa quote. That man was hyper smart. I'd love to have seen a political discussion between Zappa and George Carlin.

We sure could use a guy like Zappa nowadays. No doubt he would be a Bennie supporter.

Maybe it will keep the old folks home and the young will still persevere.... I hope.

yeah... that was a really stupid reply.

I recall him being more libertarianish. I just remember all these hoity toity political junkies looking down on him for being a drugged out rocker bad-boy then they invite him on their show and he just destroys them in a debate. It was awesome.

You know, this may the first time we seriously disagree.

But no biggie.

I was out & forgot to tape it last night, so unless I find it on YouTube, I'm SOL to see wa'zzup I guess.

Re: The Clinton's.

I essentially see them as the Democratic Romney's.

Same crap, different delivery.

Check out vids on MSNBC's site. Probably there.

John Lofton: "You're an idiot"!

Frank: "Well you can kiss my ass - how about that"?

And he gets props for reflecting my fears using one of my pet phrases: "We are moving towards Fascist Theocracy".

But, he/we had yet to see the Plutocratic Oligarchy building under the Reagan Administration, and the effect it would have subsequent to his administration, which looms even more largely IMO.

And on an even bigger note... Larry David is hosting Saturday Night Live so that should be epic.

This was a battle of trying to out-progressivize each other. The contrast was stark and evident as usual.

Bernie is for socialism for everybody. Hillary is for socialism for everybody else.

On that front, Bernie kicked her ass. Again.

Telling kids to register to vote & run for office. Sounds like a political revolution. No doubt Zappa was ahead of the game & right about fascism. Not many people could see that coming in 1986. Smart man.

Just watched this morning. She tried really hard to capitalize on the opportunity to gain some ground, and I'd call it a virtual tie between the 2 of them.

I really liked how she squirmed at the thought of releasing the transcripts to her paid speeches, and gave a complete non answer to the question.

Is laziness a profession in the US? Wow! How can I get a Green Card and, at long last, find my true vocation. Of course maybe you just mean lazy professionally .......
