Single payer was never brought up for even so much as a discussion by the Democrats. The Democrats didn't want single payer, and it had nothing to do with Republicans blocking it, because there was nothing to block.

Single payer may never been seriously considered but that was become of the poisonous atmosphere the Republicans created. The politics were impossible because of it.

But wait a minute. The scheme got NO Republican votes in the Senate. It got ONE Republican vote in the House. The Republicans have zero responsibility for the contents of the bill, the Democrats total responsibility. Let's face facts, OK?

Obamacare is Romneycare. It came from Heritage Foundation. The Democrats adopted it because the Republicans wouldn't allow anything eve close to what American needs.

Single-payer and the public option were preferable to PPACA but they never had a chance because of the Republicans. The Democrats were forced to build a complicated system which was second rate from the start because of the Republicans obstruction and obfuscation. Remember death panels? They never existed but the convinced millions of Americans they did.

So the Republicans are to blame because Americans didn't want options that are even worse than Obamacare? I don't think so.

Not fantasy. Insight. As I've mentioned in other posting, the Republicans' toolbox includes not just obstruction with legislative tactics but also obfuscation. They are ready and willing to distort any issue to control public policy. Single payer is one victim. The Democrats knew it didn't have a chance because they knew how good the Republicans are at distortion.

The Democrats didn't have a chance to pass single payer because their own members refused to vote for it. A couple dozen House Democrats had to be strong armed into voting for anything, since they feared that supporting Obamacare would cost them their seats. And, guess what, it did!

Trying to blame the Republicans is just pathetic.
