There is a handful of political phrases that seem to have no fixed definition, it depends on who uses them. How would you define the phrase - Smaller Government?

How about "draconian cuts". Or "party of no". Or "anybody who doesn't like Obama is racist".

...if we're getting rid of phrases, that is.

politics is all about out-messaging the opposition. I prefer to keep nothing off the table and watch them duke it out.

I just wish that voters in general would be able to see through the bull****, but that's not possible either. Sarah Palin says "death panels" and everyone starts parroting, smh

Yea, I'm really tired of hearing conservatives whine about that too, seeing as they are the only ones that appear to ever say it.

I guess that equates to the dem's "Throw grandma off a cliff" mantra, eh? I agree though...people need to learn how to investigate and stop falling for the BS.

Actually, one of the liberals on the board made an entire thread about it yesterday, or the implication that such is true. And another liberal on the board posted a thread outlining the 3-point plan for Obama's reelection, which included repeating the idea that a vote against Obama is racially charged. So maybe conservatives are saying, but they're definitely not the only ones. Nor were they the originators of the idea.

Similar to repub's "pull the plug on Grandma" during the healthcare debate, both sides use it but I feel that democrats just suck at messaging more.

Although if everyone were smart enough to do their own homework on such issues we'd all need IQs of at least 120 first.

I actually think I'm below that..:3oops:

Are you talking about this thread? That was started by a conservative? That links an article written by a conservative that was accusing Obama of future race baiting?

Care to find me a thread started by a liberal stating that everyone that opposes Obama is racist?

Pretty direct implication by a guy who claims Independent but leans Liberal: http://www.debatepolitics.com/general-political-discussion/100372-real-reason-republican-hate.html

So you're tired of liberals screaming that everyone that opposes Obama is racist because one guy posted a thread that doesn't even have the word racist in it?

He is pointing out that Republicans are flipping out over stuff only because it has Obama's name on it and that things like the individual mandate would have republican support if it was proposed by a republican. That makes me think that Republicans are only opposing some of these things because they were proposed by a democrat. It's probably a very accurate statement for some republicans.

You're the one that is linking it to racism, not the person that started the thread. Also, it's silly for you to go around and act as though there's a ton of liberals running around crying racism and when asked for a single link you post one and say "well he is kind of acting like he might think they're racist!"

Just as I've said numerous times before. Liberals play the race card about 1/10th as often as conservatives whine about being called racist.

Forgive me for not going through the multitude of threads in which the claim has been made by liberals to come up with examples for you. You know it happens. You can put your side up on a pedestal all day and claim to be on the higher road, but it's all crap. Both sides are pointing fingers, shouting insults, and acting like children...from the politicians right on down. To act as if liberals only rarely mention race as part of their attack is a blatant lie.

I'm not putting "my side" up on a pedestal. I don't have a ****ing side. In general I'm liberal but there's a bunch of dumbasses that are also liberal. There's also alot of extremely smart conservatives. All I'm pointing out is that I hear some conservatives whine about this race card crap ten times more often then I hear liberals playing the race card. I know it happens, but for you to act like it's an extremely common occurrence is silly. If it was that rampant then you could just go into any thread of your choosing and find a liberal calling all conservatives racist all day long. But you can't. I'm just saying, when you whine about what all those mean liberals are doing, it might be a good idea to have a few instances of it actually happening on a scale that you are claiming so that you don't look silly when asked for proof. It's even sillier when you talk about a thread as proof and then the thread turns out to be posted by a conservative with a link to a conservative writing about how liberals play the race card too much.

And the comments in that thread supported my claim, though I was mistaken about the political affiliation of the original poster. Again, I could go through thread after thread and find you the examples to validate myself to you, or I could spend my time doing something a little less redundant. It happens, most people here will admit it happens, and it shouldn't be necessary for me to go through hundreds of threads producing examples when you will just inevitably find an illegitimate way to discount them.

Boy this thread has to have set a record for fastest thread jack. :)

I'll give you that the guy is liberal, but he still didn't call anyone racist, which is what you said. You just merely assumed he was calling all conservatives racist. I'm sure you might be able to find examples but your being dishonest if you're really trying to say that screaming racist is a common liberal tactic.

Other than that if you don't enjoy debating and wish to be able to just run from thread to thread fussing about the imaginary wrongs you perceive against you then by all means go for it but don't get butt hurt when someone dares to ask you to back up a claim that you made on a forum that is made for debating.

Also, you seem to be forgetting, I am not claiming it never happens. Just saying that some people heavily exaggerate how often it happens.

No? Don't you remember the "Food Stamp President" = racism BS from the left? Just one example, of course.
