PPACA is doing exacly what it was designed to do - make people see "private" insurance companies (selling a government mandated product) as an expensive problem that requires a government solution.

My wife dropped out this year, the premiums are already too high and the deductible is nuts!

I hope it does collapse....and soon. It was one of the most ill conceived laws ever passed. Thanks Democrats, for another stupid law....out of a long list of stupid laws.

Trying to re-write history, I see. The GOP had nothing at all to do with the PPACA. It was passed in spite of total opposition from them. The doctors, too, were completely ignored -- they didn't offer enough money. Big insurance and pharm were totally in the driver's seat, and the congressmen, being lawyers themselves mostly, saw to it that there was no tort reform at all. And don't imagine that most Democrats were "blocked" by insurance and pharm. They were willing accomplices; a lot of money was involved. The far left wingers, of course, wanted single payer, but they could not get moderate Democrats to go along with that. Again, Republicans didn't figure in at all.

From the mouth of babes - my 14 year old son asked today what life insurance was (not sure what sparked the question). I tried to answer saying it was to protect families if someone who brings in a wage suddenly died. He said that he thinks they should just automatically be covered (I'm mean in his mind it just makes sense). I tried to explain to him again why that wasn't possible and his younger cousin in the back seat said "if you want that you have to move to Canadia - yes he said it like Ca Na D A.

I really don’t know how young families afford these premiums and deductibles under Obamacare. When your healthcare costs rival your mortgage/rent or multiple car payments with thousand in deductibles how do you ever get ahead or even stay afloat. My daughter is in this predicament, young couple with two kids, the husband makes great money and works his guts off. My daughter takes in kids wanting to stay home with her’s but has a side business as a photographer that brings in decent monies and It’s still not enough.

If you then add in any higher education debt you are so screwed. Your basically a working ATM machine for the screwed up system. I often think that Obama and the evil trio, liberals/progresives/socialists set this healthcare up to fail on purpose to usher in a single payer system.

Well it was first supposed to bankrupt the private healthcare industry. Insurance companies aren't stupid though and saw and have pretty much pulled out of the exchanges.

PPACA goes well beyond the individual coverage exchanges - it mandates what all medical care insurance must cover "at no out of pocket cost" and precludes using pre-existing conditions (aka known actuarial risk factors) to deny payment/coverage at "standard" rates. Imagine if "full coverage" insurance for cars or homes required fixing damage that occurred before the property was insured - one could thus buy a "totaled" car or home and then buy insurance to file a claim to get that existing damage "fixed".

One of the emails from Hillary that was leaked had her saying that Obamacare failing was a good thing, or words to that effect. Opportunity for single payer.

But I don't think support for single payer is out there. I suspect we'll go back to the previous system when Obamacare fails, and people will be saying it wasn't so bad after all. With single payer you'd be looking at a very large increase in taxes and all the problems of single payer you see in other places -- limited availability of care, longer wait times, loss of cutting edge technology and medicine, etc. I don't think the American people will accept that for the sake of 12 million people without insurance.

To the extent people are eligible for subsidies, they won't care what the premium increases are, because the percentage of their income exposed to that cost is fixed. The only problem from a policy perspective is the stupid and arbitrary reasons some people aren't eligible for the subsidies. They're the ones getting screwed the hardest, relatively speaking.

Also, all of those states' health premiums would be heavenly to us here in Alaska. Take a look.

Did you notice one thing those places have in common?? They did not take advantage of making their own center, but instead relied on the market place. If they had taken advantage of what was offered, but didn't because of the fact it was proposed by the democrats, and Obama as president, that wouldn't have happened. Because they cut their nose off to spite their face, because of 'it's Obama', the people in their state wouldn't be suffering.
