Day 3 of the GOP "Carnival of Clowns" show.

The grown ups need to takeover. This is beyond ridiculous. Make a deal with the Dems on Committees etc and vote in a moderate Republican for leader. Do a deal similar to what the Senate did in 2020 and get on with governing.

It's turning into a real shit show...

They can't. A deal with the Dems would eliminate all the 'stick it to the libs' stuff which makes up 90% of the current GOP policies.

This is pure political theater.

Someone may want to remind the Republican party that taking control of the HoR doesn’t mean it gets shut down like Gimbels…

The House can do noting because the lack of a speaker is preventing the house from it's normal practice of doing nothing.

What's the alternative? They seem incapable of coming together on a Speaker.

This is getting stupid even for GOP standards
Gaetz even nominated Trump. Who will they nominate next? Limbaugh?.
I'd love to see Trump get a handful of votes from the Freedom Caucus nuts. It would show just how insane these people are.

This has got to stop,,......McCarthy must concede and let Scalise or Stefanik move forward....hopefuly Scalise. Time to make a deal with the Dems.

Why not just replay the tapes from the last time......McCarthy goes down while calling the "c"'s.

Who the hell is Kevin Hearn?

The alternative is for people to vote for sane representatives. Maybe it will take a massive govt disfunction like could happen for people to realize that voting for representatives who have no interest in actually governing, or hold such crazy views that they can't govern, actually has consequences.

I don't like McCarthy, and would be happy to see a more traditional conservative elected Speaker. One with morals and a backbone. That however will likely require Dem support as the Republican crazies still believe that they can hold the country hostage to their agenda. The Dems however are, quite reasonably, happy for now to let the country see what a fiasco the GOP is when you fill their ranks with crazies. There is not yet enough urgency for the Dems to need to make compromises to save the country. Exposing the divisions and extremists within the GOP, and showing how badly that works is a good thing.

If McCarthy had a serious agenda to serve the country, and a backbone, he could round up a small group of GOP reps, tell the GOP crazies that they will vote with the Dems if there isn't a GOP speaker by say round 11. Get to round 10 without a speaker, he does some sort of shared control deal with the Dems. Then he goes out and explains to the country that it was critical that the country not be held to ransom by the crazy fringe and that running the country properly is more important than petty politics etc etc. Then he explains to the GOP voters the bipartisan agreement he reached with the Dems etc.

I agree, however the voters are of the same mindset as those who they elect. You have crazy electeds because you have crazy voters and it all starts with right-wing media which caters to the lowest denominator intellectually.
