Can someone explain how Israel was created?

Could a Palestinian State be created in a similar way.

Israel could be paid for giving up territory.

Holy places for Christianity, Islam and Judaism. should be protected by the United Nations

Sure, just move millions of Jews off the land they live on and declare a Palestinian state like Isreal did to the Palestinians.

Works for me and seems fair.

Israel, as it is now, was created by the British at the end of World War II; however, there have been Jewish people on that land for thousands of years. It was the homeland of the Jews until a Jew-hating Roman general murdered or enslaved the indigenous population and change its name to from Roma-Judea to Roma-Palestina.

The Palestinians as you know them, were, previous to the 6 day war of 1967, citizens of Egypt, Syria, and/or Jordan. After those three nations got their buttocks handed to them, despite the interference of the Soviet Union, the territories Israel took would not allow the populations of those territories inside their territorial borders. This evidenced by the fact that Egypt built a border wall along its border with Palestine.

If Egypt, Syria, and Jordan had not attempted to conquer Israel, this issue would not exist.

Israel did not do that. The British created Israel at the end of World War II.

The contested areas only exist because of a war started by Egypt, in which Jordan and Syria participated and were summarily handed their buttocks.

End of discussion.

If it were truly the "end of discussion" the end of the warfare would have been years ago.

But, some folks wish for such dreamy ends to very complicated problems, and how about I add, THAT is the end of my "dreamy" declaration? But you'd not be satisfied with that, would you?

Funny, though, seems you have triggered an old man's brain, as I am remembering a commanding officer once using that line on me --- "end of discussion".

You aren't my former CO, are you, noonereal?

They have been trying on and off - mostly off - for decades. There are a couple of sticking points now: the Palestinians want east Jerusalem as their capital and Israel wants all of it; the West Bank and gaza would not be contiguous and they have since formed separate governments anyway; Israel wants (and possesses) large chunks of the West Bank anyway and now controls most of Gaza, to do with it who knows what? Israel is the stronger party and would have to concede land, which they’re disinclined to do under the current right wing government. Hamas keeps lashing out with acts of terror from time to time which disinclines Israel to ‘reward’ them with a state. Instead they respond heavy handedly which drives Hamas to more acts of terror in a vicious cycle.

The last time they tried a two state deal was about 1994. The were a few sticking points so it was never implemented. Since then the two sides have more or less stormed off into their corners and refused to try again, preferring instead to glower and one another across the room with the occasional spasm of violence.

It really was not that simple. The British were facing the rise of Arab nationalism and also the urge of the Jews for an independent state at the same time, at the end of World War I, when most countries were experiencing nationalism. Britain tried to placate the Jews with the promise of a homeland (the Balfour Declaration in 1917) but Britain and France also tried to placate the Arabs (whom they wanted to help overthrow the Ottoman Empire) with the promise of a homeland in the 1926 Sykes-Picot Agreement.

The seeds of Arab-Jewish conflict were laid there, in World War I, by the colonial powers England and France.

The Israeli PM getting assassinated by Bibi supporters sure didn't help that deal get done that they were working on around 1994.

Here's a brief explanation. I'm sure the left jew haters will not like it.

Right there, the opening of your extremely biased link, "The formation of modern Israel was born out of millennia of Jewish history, emerging as a proposed sanctuary for a people who had faced persecution in many corners of the world."
Enough said. Even your source indicates how millions of Palestinians were forced off their land.

I am not "a left Jew hater", but I do not find this explanation to be one that would be acceptable in academic circles. Its tone is religious and it is written as if the Jews were destined to inhabit a specific piece of land. I feel that what I wrote above, although it only covered World War I, and did not continue through the Mandate period into the founding of Israel, is more disinterested and is also historically accurate.

Try reading what I wrote, @noonereal. You oversimplify.

Take it up with the British.

Well, really, take it up with Europe from about, oh, 325 AD until the end of WW2. The Christendom made Jews the other, resulting in waves of pogroms and forced conversions over the course of 16 centuries. That led us to the movement of Zionism in the latter half of the 1800s, and that is what inspired the Aliyah, with decades of mass migration out of hostile Europe and into a weakening Ottoman Empire. The Jews who moved into modern-day Israel were initially not regarded as a problem until it became clear what their intentions were. This in turn us to where we are now. This predates 1973 and 1967, and even those conflicts, the popular notion that Israel was just minding its own business before it was blindsided is not really accurate.

There is already a Palestinian state in Jordan. It was created unilaterally and illegally in 1923 by Britain and France as part of their agenda to turn the Middle East into British and French colonies.

Israel was to be given where Israel, Jordan and the West Bank was as a Jewish nation in 1923 . Britain violated the League of Nations Mandate and seized 80-90% of the land and created Trans Jordan a Jewish free Palestinian state in 1923. In fact the League of Nations called for undoing that state later on, but the day of the meeting world war two broke out. Go read Churchill's memoirs.

After WW2, Jews of the Middle East in "Palestine" (where Israel and the West Bank are) other than Jordan agreed to less than 6% of the remaining Palestinian area for a country. The Arab League of British and French colony puppets said no to any country for any Jew. So they declared war in 1948 to kill off the Jews in Palestine and they failed. So the nation that came about as Israel in 1949 constituted the borders of where the Arab League armies led by French, British and Nazi officers ran from when they could not kill off the Jews.

From 1949 to 1967 the Arab League remained in a declared state of war against Israel and financed attacks against it by the Fedayeen.

In 1967 Arafat in the West Bank controlled by Jordan after 1949 tried to kill King Hussein and declare Jordan and the West Bank his nation. He failed and was deported to Tunisia. Arafat who in fact was Egyptian then reinvented the word to mean anyone he called his supporters who wanted a Muslim caliphate ruled by him in Jordan, the West Bank and Israel.

Until 1967 Arafat and followers ridiculed the use of Palestinian being used as a political national description. Only after he was deported he reinvented the phrase to mean his followers who would take over Jordan, West Bank and Israel. Those people he then began calling Palestinian. Until then Palestinians were the people of Jordan and if born in Palestine they were automatically given citizenship in the Palestinian Federation of Jordan.

After his failed coups and he went into exile, Hussein abandon the West Bank and they no longer were permitted citizenship in Jordan and that and only that led to the creation of Palestinian as a political nationality reference. Until then it was only a geographic reference and in fact referred to anyone born where Israel, the West Bank or Jordan is.

After 1923 Britain flooded the West Bank with Arab Muslims deliberately to prevent a Jewish majority population. Those Arab Muslims were not Palestinian but moved there and took land away from both Palestinians born on the West Bank or squatted on it leading to most Palestinian land becoming seized by non Palestinian Muslims , so much so, Arafat blew up the Land Titles office on the West Bank to hide this.

To this day people like you who have no clue as to the history and ask others to look it up ask gentiles and non Palestinians. True Palestinians will tell you their land was taken by other non Palestinian Muslims not Jews. They will tell you the settlements of Jews on the West Bank started as outposts to report incoming terrorists and now has blown up into large settlements competing with Palestinian ones for limited resources but detached by walls and army check points.

They would tell you Fatah, the PA, Hamas, 500 other cells of so called Palestinian freedom fighters are corrupt and do not care about them and about one third of the Jewish settlers are extremists and Palestinians are equally fearful of them as the Israeli settlers are of non Jewish people. They both fear each other as terrorists.

For there to be a second Palestinian state you will need to find people who want to recognize Israel as a Jewish state and live side by side them. Good luck. The few that do fled to the West or were killed. Right now no one on the West Bank or in Gaza would dare say they recognize Israel as a Jewish state. That means death.

A Palestinian state could have happened at least 12 times from 1949 to 2023 all to be shot down by the PA and Hamas.

Instead Palestinians remain captive of the PA and Hamas two groups that do not allow dissension and steal aid money.

That is even worse. It just bullshit.

If you want to miseducate someone who asked a genuine question, you've done a bang-up job.

I think you're a bit late into the party by 75 years or so.

I meant the 1916 Sykes-Picot Agreement. I hit the wrong key. All of the struggle I was describing took place during World War I. I never ventured into the Mandate Period.

I suggest you read up on Israeli settlers for starters.

It's definitely the mizrahim who run Tel-Aviv and the rest of Israel, and not all the blue eyed Russians with Indo-European surnames...

Spell out what you are saying. It sounds judgmental and racist to me as you have left it.
