As far as I'm concerned, no politician in history has garnered the devout relentless worship that Trump has among the GOP base. Everything from massive rallies, to boat parades, caravans, Trump stores, etc, it was beyond ridiculous. With Trump gone, do many of his same supporters go back to supporting "establishment" Republicans they've claimed to hate the past four years? Can any of these Trump wannabe's like Tucker Carlson, Josh Hawley, Tom Cotton, Don Jr., etc, excite the base the way Trump has?

Let's face it, most of the GOP besides spineless turds like Cruz and Graham aren't backing Trump on this "election was stolen" nonsense. This will likely piss Trump off (it's certainly pissed off his sons), and it could cause Trump to turn on the GOP and attempt to form his own third party, and dare I say make an attempt to run again in 2024. And considering he received a massive 71 million (and counting) votes this year...FAR more than any GOP presidential candidate ever, this could spell big problems for the GOP in the long run. The GOP candidate in 2024 will almost certainly have to have his blessing if they want any chance at winning.

IMO, for the GOP, the Trump nightmare is far from over, and could end up splitting their party sooner than people think.

I don't know (as usual), Piogb. Sometimes it's hard for me to tell when a Republican is following Trump because the Republican really believes as Trump does, or whether it's just because the Republican thinks it's politically advantageous to do so. Something inside me makes me think there are more Republicans in that second category than I had originally thought. That might explain why fewer Republicans are siding with Trump on questioning the election results. But that's just a feeling I have.

I'm more specifically talking about the Republican voter base. Aka the thousands of clowns at his Yuge rallies.

Oh, I see! Well, I have this feelings that the people who attended Trump rallies will eventually disperse (sp?). They will still follow Trump until a new "star" of the GOP will emerge and pull some of the Trump crowd into a new direction. Those remaining might follow a different "new face," and the legacy of Trump will eventually dissolve (sp?). (I'm having trouble with "d" words today. :) )

Every day I saw examples of people leaving the GOP over Trumpism infecting the party. They are still doing it. Not sure what the total is, but it is not insignificant.

He already has.

Here is a good article that explains the situation...

Bottom line: If by some chance the Trump haters succeed and Trump leaves the WH, a new Party will arise that will have an instant 71+ million rank and file.

The Rep/Dem Uni-Party beware.

It’s obvious Trump’s kids definitely want to run for office and expect to be part of the GOP. Who knows what will happen or where this will go, but most of us understand that Trump has been defeated not Trumpism. I support the Lincoln Project in getting all these Trump Republicans and Trump enablers out of office. We need to transform the party or let it die like the Whigs.

Those crazy people existed in the base before Trump. We saw them in the McCain rallies. They were the crazy “he is an Arab” type. The GOP also has a major problem with nationalism. They worship right wing government and attack everybody else for not doing so, but when the GOP is voted out and a Democratic leader comes, they act like patriotic revolutionaries.

There is a problem with their base. I would even bet the base isn’t all for the libertarian economic policies that benefit the wealthy and Corp socialism. They are angry and suffering economically.

Trump will be leaving the White House one way or another 1/20/21. Best for you accept that fact.

You’re fooling yourself if you think everyone who voted for Trump in ‘16 or this year did so because they believe Trump is the answer to their troubles. And you are very mistaken if you think a new “Trump Party” will be born from the ashes of his defeat.

No...Trump won't be leaving.
Don't worry, after four years of Biden, Trump will have MORE than 71+ million members of his party.

Believe me, I’m not remotely concerned about that happening. 🤣

He has already split the GOP.

He has a 80-90% approval rating from all Repubs, I believe he's united them like never before. How many moderate Repubs are there now? One, two?

*LOL* What are they going to call it, Mycroft?? The Trump and the Republican Rump party?

Who cares what they call it? You should be more worried about what they do to the Uniparty.

Think about this. What did Mitch McConnell back him on besides tax cuts for the rich and deregulation. Funding the wall? China tariffs? Seems most of the things trump did were through executive order and many of those got shot down.

On the surface the GOP supported trump. Hell he had that huge base of racist rednecks behind him. But now that Trump is losing his power you will see that GOP support quickly fade. He was never one of them.

"moderate republican"

You know...they used to call McCain a "moderate Republican". Turned out he was just a republican who cared more about his donors and lobbyists than about the people in his state who he lied to so they would vote for him.

Those "moderate republicans" are the very people Trump is talking about when he talks about draining the swamp.

More americans voted for biden than trump by several million and you still insist on calling them trump haters. Your idol is out, get used to it.

I have to admit it's a pleasant thought but I'm seriously doubting it will happen. What I'm not doubting will happen is the state of new york will be offering him an official invitation to come in and speak with them. Should it happen it will be very very bad for the gop.

Ohhh okay... so you want the Republican right-wing to split of the "uniparty" and form some extremist fringe party... probably as a cult of personality to Trump?

Meh... if that's what you want, I'm not going to stop you. Don't let the door hit ya where the Good Lord split ya!

A third party with trump at the head would split the republican vote and give everything to the democrats.

Teddy Roosevelt tried it with his Bull Moose party. It didn't work out.

Trump is not a party puppet. Trump is not a politician. Trump is what our forefathers wanted to lead this country. A person willing to serve the people not a party or regime.
