As far as I'm concerned, no politician in history has garnered the devout relentless worship that Trump has among the GOP base. Everything from massive rallies, to boat parades, caravans, Trump stores, etc, it was beyond ridiculous. With Trump gone, do many of his same supporters go back to supporting "establishment" Republicans they've claimed to hate the past four years? Can any of these Trump wannabe's like Tucker Carlson, Josh Hawley, Tom Cotton, Don Jr., etc, excite the base the way Trump has?
Let's face it, most of the GOP besides spineless turds like Cruz and Graham aren't backing Trump on this "election was stolen" nonsense. This will likely piss Trump off (it's certainly pissed off his sons), and it could cause Trump to turn on the GOP and attempt to form his own third party, and dare I say make an attempt to run again in 2024. And considering he received a massive 71 million (and counting) votes this year...FAR more than any GOP presidential candidate ever, this could spell big problems for the GOP in the long run. The GOP candidate in 2024 will almost certainly have to have his blessing if they want any chance at winning.
IMO, for the GOP, the Trump nightmare is far from over, and could end up splitting their party sooner than people think.
