What happened to the GOP's big tent? Any ideas on that?

The irony is that this concept of a "big tent" was started to explain why Arlen Specter switched to the DNC. The DNC primaried his ass out of office at their first opportunity.
Also, were the log cabin republicans thrown out of the RNC? Aren't they still in the tent?

An incredibly stupid move.
This is why Republicans are not in office permanently. It is devisive, elitist and displays blind bigotry. The fact the GOP was able to attract enough gays to actually form a group in Colorado is stunningly remarkable, and these clowns should have been celebrating that. Now they have further enshrined a bad stereotype by making it true.

But I thought Republicans supported liberty! Or is this just liberty for straight white people?

Since this isn't a GOP function, but rather one sponsored by a think tank sponsored by a Christian university, so your argument is pretty much nullified. They made a choice on who they choose to associate themselves with and like it or not, they have the right to make that decision.

The Republicans in this story support gay marriage so presumably, they support liberty.
Just curious why nobody actually reads what they're posting about. The people who are trying to attend the event are Republicans who support gay marriage and gay rights.
I agree with the gay group that it's narrowminded and reinforces the perception of the party being anti-gay..... though I also understand it's not simply a political event, but a political event for people of faith.
IMO, there's no real harm in them having a booth.... even if they disagree on a specific issue.
a "big tent" can exist while members of that "big tent' are opposed to each other on certain issues.... every party, especially the 2 majors parties, have their camps that are opposed to the agendas of other camps within the party.( you think Benrie sander attends many pro-business or conservative democrat events ?)
I suspect atheists Republicans wouldn't be welcome as such an event either.... but certainly welcome at "party-wide" events, such as CPAC ( atheists did make a showing at CPAC, btw)
And they were kicked out. By conservatives. Now can you own up to that? Or will the inevitable defensiveness begin?

They weren't kicked out of anything. Can you be a little more dramatic? They wanted to have a booth, tried to sign up for one, and the organizers didn't want them to have a booth so they didn't take their money. Nobody got "kicked out" of anything.
And? It's their convention. What's there to defend?
If you have to lie to make your point, well, you know the rest.Aaannnnnddd...
Right on schedule. Like clockwork.

Too funny. You have no idea what's going on.Knock it off. The fact is that there is a powerful anti-LGBT force within Republican/conservative circles, and the OP gives us yet another example of this.
But keep it up, Republicans. Your bigotry is literally dying out.
News flash - it's no different in any other political group. This is why the conservative Republicans and the GOP will have a problem in 2016. It's their way or the highway. If someone or some group isn't 100% ideologically pure they don't want anything to do with you. Of course the problem with that is most aren't 100% pure.
Too funny. You have no idea what's going on.
Hahahahahaha!!!Pot, meet kettle.
