Democrats Drop Two Presidents From Name Of Fundraising Dinner - Hartford Courant
For the past 67 years, the dinner has contained the names of Democratic presidents Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson. In later years, Democrats included famed former party boss John Bailey, and the annual event became widely known as the Jefferson-Jackson-Bailey Dinner.

I say we don't stop there. Let's eradicate all references to George Washington.

And Lincoln, he was no great friend to black people.

And the name of Brown University must be changed.

And Cracker Barrel Restaurants should be changed to Soda Biscuit Barrel.

And the name of Washington and Lee University

And Washington DC should be called something else.

And the Washington Redskins should be changed to something other than Washington and Redskins.

And the State of Washington must change its name.

Fried okra should be banned. Only Southern people eat it. And grits. Ban grits.

"Dixieland Music"? An abomination. Get rid of it or change the name.

Change the names of Livingston city and county in New York. Now!

No more Waldorf Astoria hotels. We know where most of the money to initiate the empire came from.

Actually the name New York should be wiped out of American history books. Not only were so many riches and empires in New York gained through slave labor but New York was the second largest slave trading city in the United States.

Change the name of the Washington Monument. How about changing it to "Insecure White Guys' Phallic Monument?

Can you believe Obama and Biden attended the memorial service for Robert Byrd in 2010?

In 1946, Byrd wrote to segregationist Mississippi Senator Theodore G. Bilbo:

I shall never fight in the armed forces with a negro by my side ... Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds.
—Robert C. Byrd, in a letter to Sen. Theodore Bilbo (D-MS), 1946

In 1946, Byrd wrote a letter to a Grand Wizard stating, "The Klan is needed today as never before, and I am anxious to see its rebirth here in West Virginia and in every state in the nation."

Considering the racism of the Democrat party it should be banned and those who support them be made to work.

Robert Byrd has been dead and buried for 5 years.

Bringing his name up every time there's a discussion about race won't save the GOP. The GOP needs to clean up its act. Hate and fear won't win next year's election.

"Better days are coming." ~ But not for today's out of touch, running out of time, GOP.

The hysterians littering the country these days are pathetic. The ABSOLUTE REALITY is that those people ****ting themselves over Jefferson and others would have been slave owners themselves had they been in that position 200 years ago. This mindless tendency to judge individuals from history based on current social norms is as idiotic as a modern day doctor scoffing at the lack of knowledge and understanding of doctors in the 1600s.

Jefferson has been dead for 189 years. Yet that doesn't stop insane liberals from bringing up his name every time slavery is mentioned. FDR opposed gay marriage. Should his name and image be cleansed from history by the leftist American Taliban as well?

How long has Nixon with his supposed "Southern Strategy" been dead and buried?

Nixon might be dead, but the GOP hasn't buried its "Southern Strategy" yet. Some of the old White men who rule the GOP still believe that hate and fear is the way to go.

We'll find out how that works out for the GOP next year.

Come back in about 30 years after the GOP is reduced to a small, regional, party by the massive demographic change that's coming at it like a tidal wave right now and we'll have a little talk.

No one can stop time and/or change.

There is, in American politics today, a Party that was the Party not only of the Confederacy, but also the party of the KKK.
Frankly, I don't know why we don't dismantle it.

Did you ever hear of the 1st Amendment?

You should do a little research on it.

But you are assuming that people and partys are unchanging monoliths. If you believe that minorities are interested only in big government and wealth transfers, then the GOP is in a bit of trouble. Assuming, however that a major influx of devout Christians will embrace a party filled with secularists and anti-Christian bigots is a big mistake.

I'll leave that project up to you.

Lots of people on the far-right would like to erase FDR from history but that's not going to happen.

Wait and see.

I don't expect it to, nor do I advocate doing it. I was simply drawing an analogy. Slavery was not invented by Thomas Jefferson. It had been around since the dawn of man. Judging men of the past by modern standards, then erasing those with which we now disagree from our lives will leave us with no men of the past.

 Come back in 30 years and tell us all about it.
I predict that few minority voters will ever vote for those who hate, fear and despise them.

No one can stop time and/or change.

Do you need them? I don't.

Time marches on.

Let's deal with reality and work on making the USA the better place that it could be.
