“If 6 brave, trained, and alert police officers with professionally maintained weapons fired 58 rounds to subdue the Dayton shooter,” he explained, “I’d say my wife deserves at least that many chances to protect herself and my kids when I’m not home.”

I love watching people who have no expertise in firearms telling us that we only "need" ten rounds or six rounds" to defend ourselves.

Great idea

Let's have untrained people with poorly maintained weapons shoot at other shooters in a chaotic situation with lots of people I am sure 300 rounds each from say 10 other people should clear the situation

Sounds like a recipe for success to me

you appear ignorant of reality. We aren't talking about citizens carrying 100 round drum magazines on their CCW pistols. We are talking about the bannerrhoids seeking to prevent ANY private citizen from having more than a ten round magazine in their homes

Why do you want to leave people on the streets defenseless?

It took the police 58 rounds to bring the shooter down. An untrained person will likely need more and here you are saying he should only have a mag or two.

Defense is defense is it not at home in a store or in a bar

are you under the impression that people who legally carry on the streets are untrained.

tell me LT-do you support magazine limits?

what a stupid comment. I constantly tell people who carry or have firearms for home defense to get proper training and practice constantly.

I am sure that the majority are not as well trained as the majority of the police. The majority are I am sure not trained in how to respond in a crisis situation like quite a few of the police will be.

Right now I think it might be good for the US to become a full open carry country where a fully automatic rifle with a reasonably powerful round would be a good idea. With no limits on mag capacity

the average CCW holder is a better shooter than the average cop

and practice //// constantly //// :laughat: :screwy..................

someone can't take a joke...

I constantly laugh at your posts, In this day and age, I don't see many of the Trump haters having much of a sense of humor, though

So why don't you tell us why an "expert" like you says its stupid to practice constantly if you are going to own a firearm for self defense. This seems to be another bit of contrarian nonsense

Do you not see the irony of a self -professed Yale grad seemingly not understanding the definition of the word 'constantly ? :2rofll: Damn that Jimmy Carter!!! :lamo

wow that is really important. IN your constant desire to try to counter my posts, this is what you are relegated to doing.

'C'mon kids and sit down for the family dinner. Don't let all of these bullets I'll be firing 'constantly' interrupt your meal. I'm just being prudent, and practicing on defending our home. OOPS! Sorry about that little Jimmy. That one was a little too close to the head. Can you still hear properly ? " :2razz:

Thinking that civilian target practice prepares one for a real life shooting scenario, is like thinking that one can join the NFL because you play Madden every night.

Nevada has open carry and I can tell you, YES, there are definitely folks carrying that are open carrying that are untrained. Now if you are talking CCW that is a different story as you have to take a CCW course from a certified teacher.

I don't support magazine limits.

Wait, that makes no sense because that works out to approximately nine rounds per officer.

Thinking that this is the only way people practice is stupid. Tell me how do you think most cops and soldiers learn to shoot. Now i was never in the military, but I spent plenty of time at Ft. Banning (where the US Army Marksmanship Unit practices) when I was internationally competitive skeet shooter. I also am well versed in civilian police training methods. So tell me exactly how they practice.

I heard the C of P for Dayton say that his men expended 48 rounds from 45 ACP pistols, a number of 223 rounds (Dayton cops have M4 carbines in their cars) and at least one shotgun round. I don't remember exactly how many rounds of 223 they fired.

I don't disagree that with "constitutional carry" or open carry, there will be people who have never established they have any shooting skills.

If ten round clips are the limit, you can carry two or three clips.

90% of these NRA obsessives have no idea how to tactful approach a threat. They never go through that kind of training and you know it.

Further, no matter how many times you blow a load at the range, you'll never come close to the real life experience that rookie police are put through, when they shadow a partner, and learn how to deal with a REAL person that is actively trying to to hurt you and the people around you.

Yet you are ignorant to the 'fact' it is humanly impossible to practice anything 'constantly.'.....go figger..
