MSNBC host told viewers NBC management – her bosses – allowed Ronan Farrow’s reporting on Harvey Weinstein to ‘get away’

The MSNBC host Rachel Maddow has launched a stinging attack on her own bosses, accusing senior news executives at parent company NBC of being “complicit in shielding” Harvey Weinstein and Matt Lauer from accusations of sexual misconduct.

Maddow told viewers NBC management allowed Ronan Farrow’s reporting on Weinstein to “get away”, after Farrow took his work on the major #MeToo-era cases to the New Yorker, from where he won a Pulitzer prize.

This sharp lady is MSNBC's top presenter. She & her staff get to the roots in analyzing the politics of the day & the moment (often) & presenting often the only clear summary of the day's happenings in politics. I understand they pay her over $10M/year for doing this. They are not about to let her go, non-compete clause or not, because they don't have anyone near her caliber for the 9PM weekday slot.

The righties don't like her because she is so good at stripping away their ignorance.

She definitely showed a lot of integrity last night by inviting Farrow into her show and really diving into the whole situation. Yes, she is in a position of strength within the company, but it still would have been easy to simply ignore what is going on. Chris Hayes also deserves credit for bringing it up recently as well.

Have any of Fox's prime time hosts done anything remotely similar with all of the sexual harassment/assault allegations involving Ailes, O'Reilly, and others?

Fox so-called News just let their only non-whimp go: Shep Smith. The rest all just read the WH talking points feed for the under-educated & gullible people who will vote for Trump even if he is totally unqualified to be be reelected President. The most rabid is Hannity.

Maddow really is very good. Her analysis is fine tuned, reasoned and clear. I like Fareed Zakaria better because his presentations show so little bias.

Fareed Zakaria shows no bias snicker snicker. You actually typed that with a straight face?

I don't like Hannity, but I can't ****ing stand Tucker Carlson. He has the definition of dumbface and looks like a mouth breather. I wonder how many sorority girls he raped in college, if he went to one.

I said Zakaria shows little bias. He does. A casual observer wouldn't often be able to tell his political leanings after listening to one of his reports. He's also not stuck in the gutter of American domestic politics. His analyses of international news, peace conflicts, and macroeconomics shame most of the other authors and anchors in his line of work. So snicker at someone else.

I see your point and take back one snicker. I have no problem with Fareed other than the fact he's a complete idiot.

What makes you say that? He's incredibly verbose. He presents his reporting and positions eloquently. His writing is best in class. I don't know what his background and education are, but he strikes me as far from an idiot.

He's verbose I'll give him that. I just wish he'd be verbose somewhere else.

You mean, not CNN? Is that your problem with him? I get why some people dislike Don Lemon, for example, but I don't get your beef with Zakaria nor do you seem to be able to explain it.

Okay you win I'm putting him on my must follow list. I'm forever bonded with Zareed Zakaria hope you're happy.

You post a lot of weird ****. I don't care whether you ever watch or read Zakaria in your life. You went on a childish, snickering rant about the guy and crumbled when I asked you to support yourself. To me, that means you were trolling in the first place, which seems like an awfully big waste of time to me.

I like the guy he just makes me sick with his politics that's all. People need to live free.

It’s about time! Fox has been beating up on the NBC executives ever since Farrow first broke the story. Nice to see MSNBC playing catch-up.

I would ask what you believe his politics to be, but I feel bad for having taken up this much of this short thread with a tangent. I'll just say that I'm pretty sure Fareed Zakaria likes freedom too.

Yeah? What's FOX been doing about its own sexual scandals? Are any of your 8,000+ posts not replete with hypocrisy or irony?

After watching her teary eyed melt down when her favored candidate failed to win in 2016 solidified Maddow is nothing more than a cheap political hack. Fair and balanced reporting is like a penis to her, she wants nothing to do with it. If Rush was a liberal he would be a Maddow wannabe. She is nothing more than Hannity in a pants suit. Dog **** has a greater value and deserves more respect than her opinion.

Wow. All that because she supported Hillary Clinton?

Rachel Maddow has never made any attempt to hide her bias.
She is not the same type of presenter as Zacharia, who is also very good, by the way.
But he is a different kind of presenter and he does a different type of show anyway.

Since she reportedly is going into acting, I think she has already arranged for her own lifeboat.

True, but as far as the personalities on cable news networks go, I prefer Zakaria. Like I said, I think they're both really talented and intelligent. I do appreciate that Maddow owns her bias and MSNBC pays her to present it without pretending that they're broadcasting an unbiased newscast. I don't always agree with her, but she doesn't pretend to be something she's not.

Doesn't seem like a former radio host doing the voice of a radio host points to much of a career shift.

Fox had and OUTSIDE investigator come in and they cleaned house even to the CEO Roger Ailes.. Now remind me what NBC has done?? Cover up for Lauer and no outside investigation and the big wigs are still there. Talk about hypocrites. I remember Lauer interviewing O'Riley and grilling O'Riley over his sex abuse issues. Talk about the height of hypocrisy.
