Comey to testify publicly about Trump confrontations

Trump can fire any administrative staff whenever he wants for whatever reason.

Yes, he can fire people. So what? I can trade money for goods and services, but if i buy an illegal drug, that's still illegal.

Defining liar as any person who has ever told a lie, yes. He's a liar.

Which, again, is not really a useful point of discussion.
There is validity to the question. Its not a gotcha thing. You have lied at some point in your life. I have as well. I'm sure everyone has lied at some point. That's not the same as being a liar. A liar is someone that calculates and commits to lie based on convenience and advantage. It goes to the question of trustworthiness and integrity.

Indulge me. In that sense, is James Comey a liar?

He's 6' 8 and what does size have to do with it?

I believe there are honest people that misspeak. I believe there are people that intentionally lie that are by definition liars and consequently, demonstrate their word is only as valid as their advantage. Would you agree that is a fair answer?

No. Everyone over the age of four has told a lie intentionally at some point in their lives. Therefore every person is a liar.

He's 6' 8 and what does size have to do with it?
Do us both a favor and read forward in the thread. As you do...note...I comment about both his physical stature and his political position...in my statement that I look forward to hearing how he felt threatened.

Dont you?

No. Everyone over the age of four has told a lie intentionally at some point in their lives. Therefore every person is a liar.

Is James Comey a liar? Do you trust him?

I'm not sure why you think his height is relevant. Who do you trust when the President of the United States is attempting to obstruct justice, the Vice President is known to have lied about what he knew of Flynn, the Attorney General has a conflict of interest in the broader case, and members of Congress serving on committees that are supposed to be providing oversight and conducive to investigation are actively and openly hostile to the investigation? The answer is no one until you figure out exactly how deep that rabbit hole goes. Especially when Russian persons of potential interest in the investigation are dropping dead left and right.

You should really actually follow a conversation before you decide to just jump in.

Perhaps the worst analogy I've ever read.

" A source close to the issue says "....hmmm

If Trump pressured Comey to shut down the investigation why didnt Comey report it to the DOJ.....as required by law ?

Comey would be breaking the law and as the FBI head and a former prosecutor he would know that NOT reporting obstruction would land him with a felony charge

Its unusual because now if the " source " is to be believed Comey's testimony will prove obstruction.

So there's nothing to the story of Trump firing Comey.

"So why didn't you mention this 4 months ago, Director Comey."

"Uh......"

"So now this is relevant since you were fired?"

"Uh......"

"We're done here."

Mobster: "I'll kill your cat and have his head delivered to your front porch if you testify"

Informant: Testifies, has cat's head delivered to his front porch. Reports it to authorities.

GOP member of Congress: Why is it relevant NOW that Mobster killed your cat and had its head dropped on your doorstep?"

I have to admit, that kind of boneheaded thinking is what we should expect from the GOP Congress these days. Absolute deliberate cluelessness.

Maybe because the DOJ is being led by Jeff Sessions.

Have you seen comments by Comey that directly said he felt threatened or intimidated in ANY way physically OR professionally? Yes or no and if yes...publish the source.

We could save time here if you would read. I said in the post you are commenting on, "I've seen no reports that Comey felt
intimidated".

Never mind the fact that there has been no proof that Comey believes he was fired for saying no to this. Never mind the fact that its going to be practically impossible to prove that Trump fired Comey for him not backing down. Another horrible analogy. I swear you guys need to work out on what an analogy is and what it is supposed to accomplish.

" A source close to the issue says "....hmmm

So when Comey testifies and he says what this source says he will... you gonna start believing these sources?

Just kidding. I know your denial runs much deeper than that.

I'm not Comey. You'll have to ask him.

Dood...thats a dance. You asked a straightforward question and I answered it. I am asking you a straightforward question. Is James Comey a liar?

No dancing- my question was clear, concise and described a particular siutuaion- Yours is wide ranging. Try narrowing it down to specifics.
Here was my question.
Now 1 clear question
For the sake of discussion- If Trump did ask Comey to halt the investigation into Flynn's ties to Russia- What would your opinion be

Oh no...I think we are making fine progress here. So...by your admission anyone that claims it happened is themselves...lying. Awesome. Now....have you seen DIRECT QUOTES from former director Comey that President Trump "may have tried to intimidate him by implying that Comey could lose his job if he didnt play ball" and if so...please provide that source.

I answered that question. Completely.

Is James Comey a liar?

A Committee can be struck, but it would have to wait till all investigations are completed before publishing. Otherwise someone may claim they were tainted and found guilty due to the committees report, and their right to a fair trail was compromised.

There was evidence of a crime. Now, there is no evidence of a crime. See the difference?

Oh I am sure you will change that tune as time passes.

I answered that question. Completely.

In some ways yes as we all are. Now can we clarify as to what you are referring to.

As far as I can tell, the terms "cowed and threatened" are both ones you made up. Who used those terms? At any rate, Comey's physical stature is completely meaningless - the FBI Director physically assaulting the POTUS is unthinkable, actually. They're not kids on the playground in 2nd grade, or two rednecks in a bar arguing over a woman....

The OP uses the term "pressured" and it's pretty obvious how a POTUS can pressure the FBI director, who the POTUS later fired.

I am simply attempting to ascertain if you and others here feel that James Comey is trustworthy. If testimony he gives under oath is honest or if it is self serving. Can he be trusted to say what he means and mean what he says.

Apparently he documented the incidents and shared his concerns with colleagues. What should he have done - what are his legal obligations?
