Colleague refers to Rep. Sarah McBride as "the gentleman from Deleware"

I didn't concede anything I never held the position that it was polite.

No it's not my view it's a fact. List the statutes and the punishments associated with being rude.

So that makes it okay to be rude but only if you have an R or a D after your name

How rude is it to tell someone who thinks if you were born with a penis you can't be female that they must accept someone who was born male as female?

To me not thought policing and that is far more rude. As of yet I'm not sure that bride has said anything to that end but you definitely have.

Why do you get to be rude and pretend you're rudeness is acceptance of something and that everyone else is just an idiot for not agreeing with you?

I've never met anyone quite as rude as leftists so it's really ironic when you people tell others that they're being rude.

You said "as rude as it may be."

Isn't that saying you think it was rude?

Arguing that other people do it is a rationalization for it.

Legislative leaders need to be above it, especially in their jobs. I know, that ship has sailed.

Meanwhile Trump blasted Taylor Swift on the internet.

But its the left that's rude. :D

Seems kind of narrow and rigid, perhaps delusional?
If it’s delusional for me to decide what I think is acceptable, I’d say we all suffer from that same delusion. The way you phrased your question was entirely specific to me, basically asking if my opinion matters to me on what I find acceptable and I’d say my opinion is actually the only one that matters. If your question is whether what I find acceptable matters to what someone else thinks is acceptable, then absolutely not.

Their behavior was worse it was criminal. Saying words hurt the fefes of wittle snowfwakes isn't criminal that's just rude.

You were indicating that I got worse since Donald Trump came to office and no. If didn't. I bet there's still anti-gay Republican congressman ****ing 16-year-old boys in hotel rooms just like there's always been.
I've kept my comments to describing Miller's behavior (and other MAGAs) as rude...you introduced criminal. As far as what I was indicating....did you mean to write "I got worse". or "It got worse" ?

But we're talking pronouns

'HE'
I assume something about your position and I want to know if I'm correct.
Is this more about resisting gas lighting than telling a person who has been upfront about their transition that they are the sex that they are?
Am I?

A human being makes a choice about their life. It's too much trouble for you to respect the choices of others so you do "I Don't Really Care Do U?" How does McBride's choice threaten your world to this extent? You've chosen to live yours as an unforgiving judgmental observer, who hasn't really presented credentials for that lofty position.

No need to try to pretend that Trump does not own, body and soul, all of the GOP congress critters. I like to believe that his followers sunk to their current low level because of him,....but maybe you're right and they were always that way.

I think its fairly typical of MAGA to learn about people not like themselves from YouTube videos. And, they're not good.

I've kept my comments to describing Miller's behavior (and other MAGAs) as rude...you introduced criminal.
So it's not rude to rape a child? You said it got worse. I think raping a 16 year old is far more rude than calling a male a male if that person doesn't identify as a male person se
As far as what I was indicating....did you mean to write "I got worse". or "It got worse" ?
No it didn't. Molesting children is much more rude than referring to a male as a gentleman.

They're both rude there's no argument there but one is worse.

I think its fairly typical of MAGA to learn about people not like themselves from YouTube videos.
Versus what just saying those people that are not like you are not saying I'm not learning anything about them?
And, they're not good.
Because they don't tow the narrative line of falsehoods? They need to be indoctrinated with official programming in order for it to be good even if that indoctrination and official programming is 100% false?

I assume something about your position and I want to know if I'm correct.

Am I?
Look Clax. The dude was out of line. Even though at the same time he was right.

What McBride wants to be is up to him but we don't have to condone it.

Some things are best left unsaid. We don't have to play along.

So it's not rude to rape a child? You said it got worse. I think raping a 16 year old is far more rude than calling a male a male if that person doesn't identify as a male person se

No it didn't. Molesting children is much more rude than referring to a male as a gentleman.

You are making an entirely illogical argument. Criminal behavior (in the cases you cited) was dealt with, and those people are gone. Now, true, you didn't mention some gym friendly actors in that department, who are still calling the shots in the republican congressional conference. No one is equating rape with rudeness.

This topic is about Miller's direct insult to McBride. Some have rushed to Miller's defense. You've changed sides since the beginning of the thread.

"Republicans are finding it fair game to attack Delaware congresswoman Sarah McBride on the floor of Congress by purposely misgendering her. The first elected trans member of Congress has faced an uphill battle with Republicans, led by South Carolina rep Nancy Mace, who promised she would block McBride from using women's rooms in the Capital building. Her threat did not come to pass after a rule was set in place by Speaker Mike Johnson barring transgender people from using single-sex bathrooms.

...McBride also turned the other cheek on the House floor when Illinois Republican Congresswoman Mary Miller said she "refused to deny biological reality" by addressing Sarah McBride as "the gentleman from Delaware" on the floor of the House Thursday, reports the Daily Mail.

Miller spoke before McBride was set to give her first speech on the House floor.

"The chair recognizes the gentleman from Delaware, Mr. McBride, for five minutes," Miller said.

McBride made no response to Miller's comments; instead said, "Thank you, Madame Speaker" before making her prepared remarks."

Link

The GOP is the party of rude and petty trolls. The Republicans in Congress can't even treat a colleague with dignity or decency.
I'd flip it..."Thank you Mr. Speaker."

Look Clax. The dude was out of line. Even though at the same time he was right.

What McBride wants to be is up to him but we don't have to condone it.

I love it....how you misgendered the one (female) in the Speaker's chair.

How long have MAGAts been so genital obsessed?

You said "as rude as it may be."

Isn't that saying you think it was rude?
Yes I think it's rude. More than that I think it's needlessly rude.
Arguing that other people do it is a rationalization for it.
I'm not arguing that other people do it I'm arguing that you do it and your profoundly ignorant of your own riveness so it's really kind of ridiculous for you to lecture others about being rude when you don't even realize how rude you are.

You only like that I say that it's rude because it agrees with your party line. Notice how you're having trouble because I don't agree with anything else in your narrative. Not suggests I have a mind of my own separate from your cult.

Legislative leaders need to be above it,
The class of people that murders prostitutes in rapes children? Why is calling a man a man something that causes issue for you but raping a 16-year-old isn't unless the politician is a republican that's anti-gay?

Your morality seems disingenuous because it's situational.
especially in their jobs. I know, that ship has sailed.
So what do you have to say to Alexandria Casio Cortez for all of her rudeness that's okay because you agree with her right you probably don't even understand how rude she has been.
Meanwhile Trump blasted Taylor Swift on the internet.
So? Taylor Swift opens her dumbass mouth. If you don't like the taste of your own medicine quit dishing it out.
But its the left that's rude. :D
Trump responded to Taylor Swift's rudeness.

Who is it that tells people that they're racist all the time? Who is it that calls people transphoben bigot for not agreeing with them about some stupid false thing they believe? I certainly get that from the left I've got it from you yourself.

So if you're going to sit here and lecture me about being rude you need to be a little better about it yourself.

Again your morality comes off as disingenuous because it's situational.

I can criticize people on the right from the right wing because my morality is not situational. You can't criticize people from the left wing because either you believe they're forever justified because they are in the right or your morality is situational. Either way it's a lesser morality.

Look Clax. The dude was out of line. Even though at the same time he was right.
I just wanted to know if my assumption was correct I didn't mention any dudes.
What McBride wants to be is up to him but we don't have to condone it.
I agree but I don't understand what extending this tiny little courtesy harms. Nobody believes McBride is a woman they might say they do but they know better.
Some things are best left unsaid. We don't have to play along.
So it is about resisting gaslighting? I'm not going to lecture you about being rude. I would find that to be an insult to your intelligence you know what you're doing, it's on purpose.

I'm just explaining it to people in a way that it might help them understand. I just wanted to know if I was correct that's all.

You are making an entirely illogical argument.
No you are trying to defend an entirely electrical statement.

Are listed three people long before Trump ever got elected that we're engaging on something much worse.
Criminal behavior (in the cases you cited) was dealt with, and those people are gone.
So it used to be worse for a time at least people were getting away with criminal behavior.
Now, true, you didn't mention some gym friendly actors in that department, who are still calling the shots in the republican congressional conference. No one is equating rape with rudeness.
So it's polite to rape somebody?
This topic is about Miller's direct insult to McBride.
Then you shouldn't have made it about Trump by saying this all happened when Trump got in office you took it away from Miller's insult to McBride.

If it's about this you derailed the conversation.
Some have rushed to Miller's defense.
Probably because they are tired of being ordered to think men are somehow women and to pretend that these men are the same as women. You're tired of the so academic lectures that are so wrong and so stupid they could only come from an academic.

If you fail to understand these people you will never win against them.
You've changed sides since the beginning of the thread.
I haven't you agreed with something I said that I haven't changed I still think it's rude. That's where our agreement ends. I want to understand why people want to do this and do you want to call them names for not agreeing with your shit ass narrative.

I bet you don't even understand why I wouldn't think it was rude you never bothered to ask you just assumed because you're rude.

I've kept my comments to describing Miller's behavior (and other MAGAs) as rude..
Making this about your obsession with partisanship I bet if McBride was a Republican and a Democrat was being rude to her you'd think it was hilarious.

I heard leftists cheer when that scum of the earth Maxine Waters was telling people to harass others.

I saw that dumb bitch getting up in the face of a Man simply doing his job. Not a peep from you about how rude that was because she's a Democrat and it's justified.
.you introduced criminal.
Yeah because it's worse you said it's gotten worse I was proving you wrong. I succeeded too thank you.
As far as what I was indicating....did you mean to write "I got worse". or "It got worse" ?
It got worse, sorry about that.

There is nothing rude about saying Congressperson. And I made no excuses for her.
Saying “congressperson” is nothing more than passive aggression.

I don’t know about you, but I was raised in the South and was taught to treat with kindness, grace and respect. People in congress are not ignorant people (other than a couple of them at least). Calling a trans woman in congress Mr or the Gentleman, is nothing more than rude cruelty and we should call it what it is. If someone treated a trans woman like that in most companies, they would risk being fired. What someone personally believes or says on their own time is their own business, but in the workplace you treat people with kindness and respect. Bigotry is not tolerated in the vast majority of workplaces and it should not be tolerated in congress.

The idea of Congress person is a little bit ridiculous to me I think regardless of sex they're all congressman kind of like regardless of sex they're all policemen are firemen. If they go into the storm sewers to do maintenance even if they're female they go through a manhole.

The wo part isn't necessary.

Ain't that being said I don't think there's any reason not to be polite.

I wasn’t raised in the south. Being referred to as congressperson, chairperson or president isn’t considered disrespectful to most of the professional women I know.

Being referred to as congressperson is disrespectful if you are the only one the chairman refers to like that.

Again, if you call a trans woman Mr or the Gentleman in nearly any workplace in America, you are risking your job. Bigotry isn’t tolerated in most workplaces, yet the GOP tolerates and encourages it in congress.

If you voted for Trump.....yes you did. It's not like he was ambiguous on the issue. Additionally he is a rude and hurtful person and that is no secret .
While I think it should be no surprise that this is the result of Trump’s re-election, I don’t think this is what everyone who voted for Trump were intending.

There has been so much criticism of trans people over the past 4 years (from the right and the left), there are people who do wish to treat trans people with respect while having reservations about certain trans issues (sports for example). Even Ben Shapiro says you should refer to trans people by their preferred pronouns when in conversation with them out of basic decency.

That said, while some Trump voters might find this behavior disgusting, probably not enough will push back. Nancy Mace routinely using anti-trans slurs, and Sarah McBride being intentionally misgendered are “mask-off” moments for MAGA, and is a test to see how far the public will allow them to go. We will see that boundary slowly be pushed back and behavior become incrementally more extreme as people remain silent.

Also this has nothing to do with Trump. It likely has a lot more to do with how pushy transactivists have gotten. I've heard some of them saying things along the lines of what Fred Phelps in the westboro Baptist Church would say about gay people. If I'm a gay man and I'm not attracted to women who identify as men then that means I'm transphobic. These activists say this crap.

I think it's misdirected at McBride by that's why it's happening.

Well the criticism is actually at the activism and it's well deserved to the point where prominent transsexuals are calling themselves transsexuals to separate themselves from this.

Men should not compete in women's sports at all I don't care if they identify as women they can identify as cats that doesn't mean they get the compete in a cat show.
Even Ben Shapiro says you should refer to trans people by their preferred pronouns when in conversation with them out of basic decency.
Only in so far is The Men Who identifies women and want to be referred to as she her or women who identify as men and want to be referred as he him I agree. When it comes to all the various difherent types of non-binary absolutely not because that's just stereotypes and sexism.

Gentleman is not an anti-tran slur. If someone refers to me as a gentleman that's not anti-trans.

I think the trans activists have made such irritating pests of themselves most people see this and laugh. I think this is misguided. The contempt should be directed at the contemptuous not just people that fall into the same category of identity as the contemptuous.

Politicians are liars and thieves, but in public they managed to conduct themselves like ladies and gentlemen. MAGA put an end to that.
