(CNN) Trump lays into Musk, suggesting he has ‘Trump derangement syndrome’

Promoting Musk during the election run-up is a political calculus.

Once Office is attained, everything can be made to work-out.

The important thing - above all - is to win the election.
Promoting Musk has lead to catastrophic consequences. That is what is missing from your calculus. Musk cannot be allowed any position in government ever again.

I chose that image specifically for that effect, to counter the claims that only a man could be accepted as a tough leader.

It would seem I am out of touch with the reality of the situation in the US. You see we had our first woman Prime Minister in 1992. She wasn't very good so it may have set things back a bit.

But we've seen "tough" in the "weaker sex" a lot. A woman named Grace McCarthy drove this province through the 50's, 60's and into the 80's without ever holding the top job.

Even the dogmatic leftist NDP concede she was the best premier since W.A..C Benet. You guys are still recovering from the deep shock of Hillary who set women's causes back a century.

Yeah, but you gotta like this pic of her...

She made some disparaging remark about people being scandalised by the sight of a middle-aged woman's bare shoulders.
Canadian politics and politicians are a little different. There's this pic...

Who wouldn't pay money to see Trump and Musk gloved-up in the ring?

I mean trying to use Musk against Donald is fine but putting him in any position of power is a fool’s errand.

The most powerful man in the world and the richest man in the world melting down for everyone to watch…

Incredible.
Delicious

To gargantuan ego's throwing insults

This is what you voted for brain dead Anericans

not a gotchya. but thanks.

It's just a response to your silly assertions that Trump is following Clinton's road map in re immigration

I never said Trump was following Clinton's "road map in immigration", I was comparing their deportation numbers. He's enforcing immigration law like most presidents do, just not the dementia patient in the office the last 4 years...

Your objection reminds me of the crocodile tears over "children in cages" the last time Trump was in office and then it turns out that the pictures of kids in cages wrapped in space blankets were actually from the Obama administration.

And what ever happened to that poor Maryland Dad who turned out was beating his wife and trafficking illegals for Tren de Aragua? Suddenly no tears anymore...

And the "Trump is arresting kids from school!!" when the real story is that the 18 year old son of an illegal alien who is a wanted gang member, who is also an illegal alien, was picked up while driving his dad's car... but the idiots never bother waiting for the rest of the story.

It feels sometimes like people on the other side of this debate are all making money exploiting illegal labor....

No.

There was always something about her that annoyed me. It started when she ran for the leadership of the Social Credit Party and stupidly attacked front runner Bill Vanderzalm handing him the leadership. She had a special kind of arrogance.

Meanwhile, truth be known I was a great, great fan of Grace McCarthy who quietly tolerated Kim. I was provincial affairs reporter and followed the leadership contest where Grace proved Kim was not ready for prime time...without being in the race herself. (BC's right has never trusted the Conservative Party of Canada)

Don not shit where you will need food didn't resonate with her and she seriously divided the non-socred population ensuring that an incompetent buffoon like the Zalm would win out.

In truth, I tore into his campaign so much it became a side issue in the campaign. But, I was still invited to the Vander Zalm Christmas dinner

NASA relies heavily on SpaceX for programs including launching science missions and, later this decade, returning astronauts to the surface of the moon.
So you want to give the company that is working and successful to the people who run the government agency which can't keep up on its own and relies on that private company's work?

(The word give up there is a euphemism)

Well Fletch, you kinda' boxed me in here. Because I don't buy the TDS trope in of itself. But your statement is fair point, and to admit that I would be acknowledging TDS by reference!

Crazy as it sounds, several days ago I suggested Dems should run with re-enabling DOGE, by putting Musk in-charge again under their directive.

Then do a proper functional evaluation, legislating changes properly through Congress. The way Clinton & Newt cut government and ran a fiscal surplus back in the nineties, without government performance missing a beat!

I think it may be a political winner! (y)
Musks version of Doge had no real intention of ever cutting waste and inefficiency and was constructed in a way to avoid any and all oversight. It was a chainsaw inflicted on government in the least deliberate and thoughtful of ways. The richest man on earth taking away food from the poorest of us. Why on earth would the Democrats wanna make that guy their champion?

split the hairs however you like

you're saying Trump is just doing the same things which have always been done

and that Trump is a change from the same ol same ol

Your .... labor....
not getting drawn into defending things I haven't said

Oh please. NASA put Americans on the moon two years before Musk was born. NASA competently put spacecraft on Mars and other planets while sending some into deep space.

There is no rational reason why the government needs SpaceX, except the zealots trying to slash government and move to privatization.

If the equivalent of Starlink was run by the government, it would be a less expensive utility that would not be raining debris over the Bahamas.

those are Trump donors

the donors Trump told they could keep their current workforce of people who came here illegally to take jobs

Deporting illegals is part of te President's job. I've posted articles about ICE raids under Obama, I've pointed out the scale of the deportations under Clinton and Obama.

You argue that's different and never say why.

not getting drawn into defending things I haven't said

Then stop doing it yourself.

Musk is not deranged; he's just having a difficult recovery from severe cognitive dissidence. He did not understand Trump nor did he grasp the difference between Trump's mercurial and ever shifting beliefs and him actually having any beliefs, certainty not on a systemized basis.

So he experienced a hard lesson: Trump has a far greater interest in "winning" than he does in any particular policy. Balanced budgets and the tea party trope was never his thing, nor is pro-life, nor free trade, nor reforming medical care - his "thing" is making a big splash with something novel, stupid, and as an ego gratifying win.

Musk is a recovering Trumper: Trump doesn't give a shit about deficits and balanced budgets, he doesn't care about having a smaller government, he doesn't care about judicial philosophy, and yes Elon, he doesn't care about free trade or balanced budgets.

By the way, this was entirely predictable. The staff infighting, the chaos, the turnover, and the routine banishment of once "loyal" Trumpers and sycophants is just a continuation of the first term.

One might think Trump actually enjoys it.

You might want to tell the NYT. It seems Trump's deportations are goin to make life difficult for the residents of ... Martha's Vineyard.

(CNN) Trump lays into Musk, suggesting he has ‘Trump derangement syndrome’...

Two over indulged over egotistical man child billionaires are having a hissy fit with each other!

Boo Freaking Hoo!

While American folks watch that total BS, and the world laughs at the U.S. of A., those two rich white guys fueding, they aren't watching Congress as the MAGATS there, formerly known as Republicans, are selling the very soul of America to the Devil with the OBBB

Sigh, yeah. Editing error, I was goin to use the article below but remembers the funnier NYT article. I do not edit better than a 5 year old.

Here's the Martha's Vineyard story I originally planned to use:

Anyway, Martha's Vineyard and The Hamptons aren't the hot beds of the Republican donor class.

Its interesting to me that this thread has been very low on the partisan bickering.

Is like the whole thing is so intensely weird we just put down our pitchforks and torches, popped some corn and just sat down together to watch in astonishment.

I dunno about the astonishment bit as we all saw it coming, but pretty much yeah
