After a deadly spring and summer, the situation in Sweden appeared under control — its infection rate is around 38 cases for every 100,000 people, EU data shows. In the UK, it's around 87 and in Spain it's 320.
Laughable. There is no such admission in the piece from either CNN or Sweden. Regarding Sweden's approach:Some countries are eying Sweden's 'light-touch' Covid response. It's a gamble that could backfire | CNN

Cue the usual covid lockdown doomsayers coming into this thread, and proclaiming Sweden had a high death toll (even though Belgium's was higher, and they practiced lockdowns) even though most of Sweden's deaths were from elderly patients in nursing homes.
And we live in a country that thank God allows some states citizens to exercise freedom of choice. And that beautiful US Constitution that other Nations do not have.Sweden is well above the infection and death rate of the EU average as a whole. Cherry picking two other European countries who were worse does not prove their strategy was right. They were wrong.
Germany shut down quick and early and is one of the best performers in the world. All developed countries also had something the US didn't, a national strategy and a leader who didn't actively lie about the seriousness of the virus. The rest of the developed world has been back to work for MONTHS.
Everyone has a choice, but if that decision involves reckless stupidity which has the potential to kill others what is your defense? By the way your Constitution was derived in large part from our own Magna Carta (1215), and Bill of Rights (1689). Try again. And we live in a country that thank God allows some states citizens to exercise freedom of choice. And that beautiful US Constitution that other Nations do not have.
But we have freedom of choice other Nations lack. The best for those in America with co-morbidities is they should isolate themselves to the extent to the risk they're willing to accept. Meanwhile, the overwhelmingly majority of Americans get back to their lives.Everyone has a choice, but if that decision involves reckless stupidity which has the potential to kill others what is your defense? Sweden gave the seriously sick morphine. They didn't even take them to the hospital.
Even without the virus seriously sick were unhealthy and would've became a burden on the health system.
Sweden has saved billions letting them die.
Then keep your distance from me and you’re safeYour freedom ends where my face begins.
But they lack the definition of Americans freedom. For those listed a little is better than nothing."And with a straight face, you're going to tell students that America is so star-spangled awesome that we're the only ones in the world who have freedom? Canada has freedom, Japan has freedom, the UK, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Australia, BELGIUM has freedom! Two hundred and seven sovereign states in the world, like 180 of them have freedom." --Will McAvoy, The Newsroom

Cue the usual covid lockdown....
The Swedes brokered a different deal than the rest of the world: Citizens take individual responsibility for social distancing, and the government keeps most of society functioning. There are some rules— high schools and universities are closed, gatherings of more than 50 people are banned, and people over 70 and those who feel ill are encouraged to stay home. But businesses largely remain open, and children who would otherwise need care are in school.
Citizens seems to be taking their responsibility seriously. Residents point out that they are practicing social distancing, with the elderly isolated, and families mostly staying home, apart from kids in school. Citymapper statistics indicate an almost 75% drop in mobility
in Stockholm. Travel over the Easter weekend dropped more than 90%; the government did not tell ski resorts to close for Easter, a popular ski holiday time, but the resorts closed anyway. Lovin told the BBC
it is a “myth that Sweden has not taken serious steps.”
It would be nice if people understood what Herd Immunity really was, and what it would mean in the case of covid-19.
As usual you cherry pick your stats about the per capita deaths, completely ignoring what happened in Belgium because it ruins your false narrative. As predicted.Ludicrous interpretation, as usual.
Per capita, they killed more than ten times as many of their people as their neighbors did. Naturally, the right wing death cult believes that to be a success. That's why they think Trump was so effective. More deaths = better in the minds of right wingers.
As I said before I do not think Sweden was really trying for herd immunity they were just trying to keep businesses open.
This article says that gatherings were limited to 50 people and that social distance was recommended by the Prime Minster and that the people followed that recommendation.
Sweden is taking a very different approach to Covid-19

And some citizens don't give two hoots about others or apparently about themselves and so they don't wear masks. Freedom of choice, but not for women. That's the gop for ya'.And we live in a country that thank God allows some states citizens to exercise freedom of choice. And that beautiful US Constitution that other Nations do not have.
That's a lie. I know the Swedish healthcare system somewhat. I guarantee you they tried to save everyone. Sweden is not the Darwinist Dreamland you make it out to be.Sweden gave the seriously sick morphine. They didn't even take them to the hospital.
