Churches without Christian Nationalism (there is hope)

We're losing membership only in Europe and the U.S. Methodism is a global church and is gaining members in Africa and Asia. Yes, we've had a split and I'm considering finding a Global Methodist church to attend. I hesitate to change because of the wonderful congregation in the UMC I worshipped with in CT for nearly 40 years.

i was in that situation many times, but i grew and the churches changed.

today i frequent many churches and have friends wherever. once a year i attend a Methodist church at thanksgiving, a lady there is my banker. i don't know their issues if in the UMC or whatever.

i was raised a baptist conservative, but have left theologically. still attend baptist, reform, pentacostal, apostalic to name a few. haven't found a great church in my area, so sometimes i travel.

if i could find a Methodist church with the founders Theology like the Wesleys i would be there, because of my stand on Arminian faith. even though i do attend Reform occasionally i reject most of the Calvinist faith.

I can't imagine a place where you would do well.
Ouch!

There are still evangelical Methodists working to maintain the traditional, Christ-based, scripture based Methodist message that set America's heart aflame in the past. This is just one of the groups I consider God's chosen remnant that will stay strong in the faith through the worldy chaos already happening, much as St Benedict's monasteries did following the collapse of the Roman empire that plunged Europe into a deep, deep darkness for hundreds of years.

The Evangelical Methodist Church

No it isn’t.

You are welcome to come to NJ and I will introduce you to the JWs with the hellfire signs.
Sure uh-huh...there is no hellfire...so there's that...

It is easy to be religious but difficult to be spiritual…..accept that you are a poor wayfaring stranger and that you have to walk that lonesome valley…..I loved the Disciples of Christ but they have no local church….the American church is built on separation…I attend a Church of Christ which has a myriad of faults…..it is through hearing their emphasis on reading the scriptures literally that I am motivated to instead seek the spiritual meaning of those same scriptures…. I do not attempt to share with them because their faith is a different level…they are convinced of their righteousness just as they are of their politics….in most churches you are only accepted as a believer if you accept their peculiarities…..meditation remains a foreign concept for the church at large….Be still and know that I am God…..still means just that…total stillness…no thinking…no praying…..suspend your ego….that is meditation….you can pray and read the Bible later…..but a lot of people are terrified of the void….that is their loss….

Psalm 1:2 in the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible. It says, "But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night".

I removed all the stuff that has nothing to do with Christianity.

Lol - really?

ONE NATION UNDER GOD.

It has everything to do with CHRISTIANITY!
Founders and pioneers of the USA were mostly Christians, and many non-Christians believed in the same Abrahamic GOD

There is only.................................
ONE GOD.

The............. ABRAHAMIC GOD!

Practically all other religions believe in more than one god. 🤷

I hope you find the church that makes you feel at home. I too am very Wesleyan and Arminian. There is great freedom among United Methodist Churches in terms of local traditions. My own church is deeply involved in ministries with persons going through addiction recovery. It's a smallish city. One of our members was once our state attorney general. Others are wearing probation bracelets. We sing together in our choirs. I can feel John Wesley right there.

thanks. my preference is to go back in time to when the Methodists were the place to be early 1800's in america. revival was in their churches wherever Wesley and his preachers went.

reading the early Methodist history is very impressive and i learned about them in a baptist church because the minister was honest with many things including church history. he would praise the Methodist movement, claiming they were Superior to the baptists in holiness and perseverance.

i no longer see this in churches where i live in any flavor of christianity.

we have a little home church, where i encourage all to seek after God including myself; the time is so short that this should be paramount in our lives i feel. we will be with Jesus forever, we want him to say to us well done thou good and faithful servant. what else really is there in life?

not much else that i can see.

blessings to you today.

0001_22.gif...this Cartoon man understands and lives the Gospel demands of Jesus, in the end the Lord says well done and he enters into the Joys of heaven.

this is for all of us, even Atheists should see this as their hope and go on a Journey of faith looking for the Light they are missing. you have nothing to lose in the end, and a glorious Eternity of joyful and happy things await you, should you choose to seek and FIND God. it is all in God's bible if you care to look.

but you have to look, i can't do it for you or i would.

these cartoons ARE reality, the basics of where to start.

blessings.

Suffice to say I disagree and won't go any further with this.

This is meant to be a thread of hope for Christians and not something to be bogged down by your interpretation of US history.

Truthfully according to the Bible there are many Gods….

There.

I corrected it for you.
Small "g."

Yes, according to the Bible, there are many false god.
There are numerous man-made gods. These are false gods.

In regards to many gods…..Gen. 1:26….Psalm 82…Psalm 89:5-7….and many more…..these gods worked in conjunction with Yahweh and under his authority….to say that there is only one god is misleading and contradicts Scripture….

Sorry but they are not false gods…..but assistant and lower gods…..grammatically these are Elohim with the supreme God being one of them

This thread is about Christianity.
I thought you knew that.

have a nice day.

Correcting myself….there are also false gods but there are many legitimate gods also……

I would urge anyone to read the referenced scriptures……if any wish to be evangelists you must be prepared to answer tough questions concerning Scripture….

I love tough questions.
I love interesting questions.
I love questions that are challenging.

BUT.................

Tough questions aren't the same as ignorant or irrational questions.
A poster doesn't have to answer every question.

One should know how to............................... qualify.

Not true...the Bible speaks of the One True God many times...

one God: This expression echoes several statements in the Hebrew Scriptures regarding Jehovah’s uniqueness and his being the only true God. For example, at De 6:4, Moses states: “Jehovah our God is one Jehovah”; at De 32:39, Moses recites Jehovah’s words: “There are no gods apart from me.”—Isa 43:10, 11; 44:6; 45:6; see study note on Mr 12:29.
