To the extent the ruling depended on the court's ridiculous constitutional "interpretation", congress cannot override it with a statute.

Constitution > legsilation
As I understand it, they can.

They are simply correcting the stupidity of the right-wing side of the SCOTUS.

It is going nowhere. SCOTUS corrupted our constitution for all time.
I think it will.

Congress is attempting to do their job. If Johnson and his whack-a-doodle group try to intervene, it will cost the GQP votes.

So the hypocrisy of our government put all that is on their sides. It’s equal right now. What happened to DEI?
🤣🤣🤣 Hypocrisy! Biden best keep his immunity!

Nope

Most people are totally unaware of this ruling and the cult does not care about America.

I wonder if the proposal is structured so as to avoid President Obama facing criminal investigation/prosecution for his ordering the death of that American probable terrorist a decade or so ago.

You should dig into that pronto. Some folks might think a decade ago is a little long in the tooth for a news story. But a 10 year old Obama story may be just the ticket. Are you a MAGA?

It appears that congress is going to fix the mess the corrupt SCOTUS made.

If only these kinds of things were based on merit and not politics, it would pass in an instant. Like, it only makes sense that no person is above the law. But Maga is too power-drunk to allow this to pass.

Maga wants to control everybody else's life, but have no controls over their cult leader. It's ridiculous.

'Oh, let's just hand him absolute power. What could possibly go wrong?'

I'm not a lawyer, but I'm pretty sure Mr. Person is right. A law wouldn't override the ruling. A constitutional amendment would.

I haven't read Schumer's proposal, and perhaps it is sensible. If it proposes to eliminate any immunity for exercise of core Article II duties, it may not be sensible.

Eliminating immunity looks like a partisan win for Democrats at the moment, since Trump was the immediate subject of the question. However, it could backfire badly for both Democratic and Republican presidents in the future.

I'll wait for the MAGA-to-English subtitles. Joe Biden doesn't want or need presidential immunity. No where in the US Constitution does it suggest that the POTUS has immunity for their actions. You should learn that.

I am throwing it out there.
Simply saying a president can be prosecuted for crimes committed in office is not as simple as Schumer and others seem to think it is.

President Biden continues to insist that he has the authority to unilatetally forgive student loans.

Despite the fact SCOTUS has said he does not.

Maybe he needs the immunity decision to shield him from creative prosecutors.

That is not presidential immunity for a crime.

Joe Biden has not committed a crime.

Standard, run of the mill political posturing. This isn't a serious bill.

It’s a very “serious bill” if its intent is to avoid the need for Constitutional amendment to hold a POTUS (criminally or civilly) responsible for their official acts while in office.
