Chip Roy (R-TX): the "job" of Republicans is to obstruct everything until December 2022.

In remarks captured on video, GOP Congressman Chip Roy says that it is the job of the GOP to block any compromise on President Joe Biden's infrastructure plan at least until after the midterm elections take place next year.


It seems a lot of this vaccine hesitancy in red states also maybe part of this suicidal mission to keep the pandemic dragging on to make the Biden administration look weak and incompetent.

It used to be that immediately after elections in America, there would be a governing period when things could actually get done. That is clearly no longer the case. It is literally campaign season, all year round, every year. It seems these folks are literally willing to cut their own nose off to spite their face.
 
That a completely childish way to govern.

Why would anyone bother trying to pass anything in good faith after this statement?
The job of the opposition is to try and mould the policies of the party in power to their side but also have some ability to have good faith discussions on things they don't like but are good for the country.
The party in power is there because the majority want them to get things done and simply blocking everything out of spite because your side lost is pathetic.

What went around with Nancy Pelosi, (holding up the relief bill) comes around ... Why are Democrats so surprised by game-playing politicians who are party before country types?

Uhhhh, that's not what she says. She says the new (smaller) bill doesn't contain a bunch of conditions that were deal-breakers for the Dems (like, IIRC, complete indemnification of employers who fire workers if they won't work under conditions unsafe during the pandemic). It's right there in the transcription of her remarks:

Speaker Pelosi. Look, I’m going to tell you something. Don’t characterize what we did before as a mistake as a preface to your question, if you want an answer. That was not a mistake, it was a decision. And it has taken us to a place where we can do the right thing without other, shall we say, considerations in the legislation that we don’t want. No. That was it.

Even the remarks that are supposed to be an admission of stalling, aren't. She's saying that Trump didn't follow the science, and so any bill with him in the role of enforcer and administrator was going to have to be different, and larger, because there was little chance of having another bill if one was needed later. With Biden, those conditions no longer hold, so it changes the calculus.

By way of contrast, Roy's remarks are much more blunt and say directly what the OP says they do.

Fasten up, it's going to be a bumpy ride for the GOP. You all gone crazy with election butt hurt. Now it's Pelosi's ball game, best put a cup on.
