Hoe come the "World superpower" USA cant even get poor impoverished North Korea to table to talk about nuclear weapons ? You destroy Iraq which has no weapons but are too scared to take on North Korea that DOES have weapons and is your "Axis Of Evil" I guess no oil and didnt try to hurt Bush daddy.

Lucky for world China again uses its DIPLOMATIC power to make North Korea see sense and return to negoitiations. Even though we on doorstep of North Korea and at most risk from these bombs, we dont get all "G I Joe" and go in and kill civilians in name of "Freedom"

USA needs to ask China for more support as seems it has no clue how to act on world stage.

We had Mr Bush press conference from NATO play on our TV last night. I had to check the channel to be sure it wasnt a comedy program. he does sound like idiot.

Fried Rice still laughing

Umm... last I checked they were spitting in Chinas face as well.

Lucky for world China again uses its DIPLOMATIC power to make North Korea see sense and return to negoitiations.
Lets run over people with tanks if they disagree. Yep, very diplomatic. It was not China that got them back at the table. Regardless of what your media said.

The word "freedom" is not the same in China as it is in true free countries.

USA needs to ask China for more support as seems it has no clue how to act on world stage.

We are. As you stated, NK is your neighbor and not ours. Therefore, China has more to loose. In case you didn't pay attention, Bush was asking for China and all of the NK neighbors to take control of the situation. Not because we can't, but because China is a world power and should utilize it.

The current situation is a result of your ridiculous stance on certain countries ie Axis Of Evil. Six Party talks are a direct result of USA inability to solve matters in diplomatic manner. We are sorting out your mess. Really - if NK was a terrorist / evil threat, our famous tanks would have crushed he place in one day. Even though this "threat" is on our border, we seek peaceful and diplomatic solution. We even include Japan our "long time enemy" It is USA who acts first then needs others to sort out the mess. Look at your president grovlling in Europe.

Fried Rice is raising his eyes skyward

We seek a peaceful solution as well. As does the UN. Which we would have to go through to get any additional sanctions against NK.

You do realize it was the USA that put six parties together in the first place, right? NK didn't choose to talk overnight. There was definatly some excellent dipomacy going on in both our countries. Or do you believe it was only China that endorsed the start of these talks 3 years ago?

Perhaps your media is even more biased than ours.

Six party talks where a direct result of USA inability to obtain solution by its own methods. We did not even seek talks as saw NK as no threat. It is only because of USA actions that NK is now taking its aggressive stance.

Agree with you on UN - pity your country chose to ignore those sanctions over Iraq. I remember Colon Powell with his Powerpoint presentation of 'evidence'. This was universally scorned but you went in anyway. i wonder how many are dead because of it.

Equally a pity that you are arguing what you seem to know nothing about.

China has endorsed 11 of the 18 resolutions that were against Sadam. China as well concluded that Sadam was a threat. Well before Powell stepped foot in that chamber to present evidence. But, you guys were involved in the XinJiang (sp?) issue claiming that terrorism was in your own country after 911. While really it was a way of oppressing more people because of thier religion. Had other things to worry about I guess.

Like France - you voted for 1811 and then pulled out at the last minute. If the evidence was insufficent, why did you vote for it?

I wonder how many people are dead because China, France, and Germany didn't help to get it done with fast and swift?

Hate to disagree with you, but China is not the country most in danger of these nukes. South korea and Japan are. Actually, only Bush is at fault here. I agree with you, Mr. Rice, that the USA is currently not so great a nation. But we certainly could be, and we are still a great people...we'll right this ship. I can't believe you're mocking the USA for not giving freedom to other people. The USA's foreign policy sucks, but atleast our gov't doesn't kill its own people for disagreeing. Your gov't kills more people each year than all others combined. Now I know that your dictator says what you can watch and hear, but perhaps you should sometime try to see some real news. Don't brag about your country by criticizing another for not showing human rights when your own country is the worst offender in this area. Perhaps your not allowed to criticize your gov't, but stop making China look like 'the good guy' in all of this. The only reason you can talk with Kim Gone Insane is because your country feeds them, and without China, NK ceases to exist.

Please supply figures to show how we kill so many people. At same time look at how much death has been caused by USA financing and supporting Taliban, Saddam, South American dictators, Saudi Arabia etc etc etc. We acknowledge that in the past we have not given regard to human rights, but how far we move in very short time ! You have 'freedom' for many years yet your streets are not safe, your people are in poverty, your economy is dying and you think to fight first talk later.

Contrary to popular belief - our economy is skyrocketing. Contrary to popular belief - our poverty level is still higher than most other nations. I think it was in another thread that said the average person that is considered at poverty level has a frig, 2 TV's, a DVD player, computer, and a car.

As far as streets being 100% safe, name a country that is.

As far as fighting first and talking later, again you blatantly ignor the 18 resolutions, the UN, and your own government for agreeing with our position.

Ummmm, how about Tibet?

I don't think I need to say anything else.

Hooray for China!
China blocks news not porn online
Chinese internet surfers have almost unfettered access to pornography, but news, health and education sites are routinely blocked, US researchers have found.
Hooray for China!
China's Internet Censorship
Internet sites on democracy, Tibet and Taiwan were among Web destinations most frequently blocked by the Chinese government, a study of Chinese online access shows.
Hooray for China!
Prisoner abuse/death penalty abuse:
Hooray for China!
Inability to speak out:
Hooray for China!
School trips for children to see executions:
In a bizarre holiday celebration several hundred schoolchildren were taken to watch six men being sentenced to death at a public sentencing rally, according to a Chinese internet report.
Hooray for China!
Little room to believe what you want under the government's watchful eye: Hooray for China!
Protestor against forced abortion sent to prison camp: Hooray for China!
So many problems in summation:
Makes you wonder how many of my links Fried Rice can read, doesn't it?

It always strikes me that USA are the first to condem the 'propoganda" of other nations while thry accept without question that their own reporting is correct.

At least we know how to read between the lines - in fact we are masters of it.

I dont have time to reply to each of your ridculous comments - one did catch my eye and i wonder if we need to rename our "forced labour camps" G'mo Bay so we can all be consistant.

Fried Rice wishes he had more time to paste in 100's of links

We never support this War. Like France we where right.

Fries Rice, I admire your insight.

You waste your time against people like shuamort (funny, mort means dead in French). Perhaps he'd like to tell us how Karen Silkwood died? And why?

I believe China will be instrumental in bringing about world peace. Your initiatives in NK are admirable and do more than the gung-ho cowboy talk of Mr. Bush. Though I was a big fan of his aunty, Kate.

The US will spend so much on horsing its way around the world that its economy will collapse in a heap. It's population will dwindle as all it's young men are sent around the world to die in the name of the dollar. I believe it's called self-destruction.

My condemnation of China is based on your farcical sense of nationalism that seemingly trumps any evils that your government is perpetrating. And, if you look around on the boards, I've condemned the actions of the US government as well. I'm not a hypocrite. As for "ridiculous comments", why are facts considered ridiculous comments? Unless you're like Uretha Franklin who likes to stick his fingers in his/her ears to them and pretend they know all while having ZERO facts on their side. Sad really.

Funny, that you'd "waste time" with me and still ask me a question.

I was one year old and wasn't there so I'm not personally sure about the how and why, but FACTS show that Karen Silkwood died in a one car accident. There's speculation otherwise (unsubstantiated, of course) that she was slipped quaaludes and/or another car bumped her off of the road. (Obviously, you shouldn't be getting all of your reality from Hollywood movies.) What does that have to do with the government anyways? Whether she died by herself or someone was complicit in her death, where do you find a tie to the US Gov't?

To be likened to Fried Rice I take as a compliment. He is a wise, intelligent, insightful person, and unlike you United Statesians, we very much have facts on our side. A United Statesian lecturing people about facts! That's a laugh.

If you really don't know what I'm getting at then your access to information even more restricted than I imagined. Poor sad people. You're a nation of mushrooms: kept in the dark and fed s*it

Oh please enlighten all of us, Uretha.

Actually, they wouldn't be equivalent. The prisoners of war at G'Bay are foreigners. The forced labor camps are made up of citizens. Big difference there. (And for the record, I admonished the US government in this post for their treatment of the prisoners at G'Bay.).

The first thing we should not forget is that China is the reason that a united and peaceful Korea does not exist today.

What nonsense are you talking sir ? if China is root cause how come they hate USA so much !!

Fried Rice also enjoys Kim Chee when he can

Mr Rice,

I am willing to admit that I am ignorant to the actual conditions in China. Since you are the first chinese person that I have had a chance to talk to that was not living here in the US, I would like to ask you a few questions.

1. What is the process used in China for selecting government leaders?

2. We hear allot about population issues in China (you have to admit there's allot of chinese citizens). What steps has the Chinese government taken to help control their population?

3. What media sources are available to the average Chinese citizen? Are they state run media outlets? Are citizens able to access foriegn news sources such as the BBC, Fox News, CNN, Al Jazeera?

Please take my questions seriously. I am an avid fan of history and have actually found the Chinese/American relationship on the Korean Peninsula to be rather interesting.

Respectfully,

Nonsense? History. At one point during the Korean War, the US forces had defeated the NK, who were in retreat across the Yalu River into China. China had forces poised there and they intervened at that point and almost drove the US from the peninsula. Almost. We were, however, forced to settle with an armistice at the 38th parallel, the situation that exists today. China is responsible for that. If you were schooled in China, it is not at all surprising that you don't know that.
