Also, I'm confused, Maga seems to run around telling us these tariffs are going to bring back manufacturing jobs that no one wants to work. At the same time, they seem to say that because of every previous President, this trade war is lost. Which is it? Why start a trade war if it's "lost" before it begins?

Better yet, why launch a trade war against the entire world at the same time when you already are making excuses as to why the trade war against China is lost?

I don't see anything in here to change my opinion that Trump launched us into a stupid trade war that he didn't really plan for, and is now making things up as he goes.

Trade wars have never worked, historically, and inevitably rebound against the imposing nation as much as the intended victim. Trump clearly isn't interested in learning from history, and simplistically thinks they are easy money-the one thing he loves, above all else.

Personally I feel it's a bit too late for a trade war with China because we've already lost. We failed to learn anything in our trade relations with Japan and Taiwan as well. We allowed ourselves to be "dumped" out of several industries, but Chinse supercomputing won't even participate in the TOP500 without Intel, AMD, and NVidia products. So use



The crazy thing is my company tried to produce gas in Mongolia, but the Chinese oil indstustry's refusal to honor intellectual technology kept us out, and we all know Gazprom can't do it.

bessent - "china needs to de-esculate" what world is he living in america started this and not china, if anyone needs to de-esculate it's donald "the dotard" trump and his stooges. bessent says china exports 5 times more than america to china, it's obvious he can't do his "math" $450 billion to $150 billion is clearly 3 times and not 5 times, china has a surplus globally of $1.1 trillion wheras usa had a deficit of $1.9 trillion, the usa economy is expected to shrink by over 2% this year meanwhile china's economy is expected to grow by 4%

just wait till the store shelves empty and watch the us economy decline big time,this will not hurt the the rich like trumps billionaire friends

I'm still waiting to find out what America is winning with this trade war, and I've yet to get an answer other than vague notions of "winning".

Can anyone give something specific that America wins if China were to "cave"? We can't force their people to buy more American stuff. China is the manufacturing giant of the world, not the US. They've already made deals with other nations for the goods they really need (like soybean). What will the US win here other than an ego boost for Dear Leader?

That speaks volumes about your character. Also Trump admitted that people are going to just have survive on having less. Instead of MAGA it is MATWA. Make America Third World Again. There has been a lot of talk about what MAGA wants to accomplish. As far as I can see they want to return to the 1820's. When foreign nations laughed at us and completely disregarded us. When Presidents defied the Supreme Court and killed detained who they wanted when they wanted. When it was ok to to have 120hr work week and employ ten year olds and the only work safety there was try not to get killed but if you do we can replace you. When the only pollution controls were retire to your country estate if yo have one, if you don't choke. Trump stated many times we were like a third world country. He is trying to make us in that image.
