Ridiculous example, this guy was just randomly taking stuff, not even accurate at all.
Now lets say he was to give one kid 10 pieces of candy and take back 2 and then give another kid 100 pieces of candy and take back 35, do you think the kids would understand?
Instead, he's just taking stuff randomly from one pot and putting it in another all to make a point, just shows his own bias.

For all that selfish people like to claim that, the steady march from class-based stagnation of wealth to more egalitarian systems over the last several centuries disagree. If everyone was as selfish as you think they are, we would still be ruled by aristocrats.

Yup. Contributing to society is clearly like being raped. All taxes are theft, all laws are just crushing your freedom. Feeding hungry people is just stealing from you to bribe lazy immoral people into voting for handouts. It seems you don't live in the same world as the rest of us.

The concept is they are children with a very simplistic morality. Would you allow a child to serve on a jury or vote in an election? If not, then how ridiculous is it to try to use their simplistic morality to argue a point about economics and tax policy. You make yourself look foolish in the attempt.

Its human nature. People work hardest for themselves. It should be about opportunity, not equality of outcomes-and yet to socialists that isn't how it works.

The reason marxism fails, is because it works against human nature.

It is human nature to grow up and have a more complex reasoning ability than "that's mine!" Marxism is ridiculous, but this attempt to use children and their Halloween candy was oversimplified and silly. I could have easily set up a scenario where kids visited a hospital where a sick and dying child was missing out on Halloween and made the opposite case by making any kid who did not give up some of their candy feel like a turd. Would not have proved a damn thing.

False analogy. In your example the children would be doing it voluntarily. In the video, and reality, socialism isn't voluntary. Its about taking from everyone-no matter the effort-to assure an equal outcome for all. I can see the attraction for sub par individuals, but not for anyone else.

The video is accurate in the sense that the adult bear (or whatever that brown costume is) takes from one to give to the other. He doesn't simply take.

There's the rub, though. The first step is always taking. It's the taking people object to. It's as true for children as for adults. Nobody minds the giving. But, in order to give, the government must first take. The wrong committed by taking can't be made up for by later giving. The video is clear. Despite the adult giving to another child, the child who had his property taken remains universally offended.

No amount of supposed "good" can make-up for or justify the initial theft. This is why government should be restricted to protecting its citizens from force and fraud and leave Christian "giving" to those who earned it.

You liberal-progressives are all about separation of church and state. This desire to "give to the poor," is a Christian value and derives from religion. You should be first to reject government engaging in such charity? We can't mix religious principles with government, after all?

Sharing is voluntary. It stops being a good thing when it's not voluntary. At that point it becomes a bad thing and is no longer "sharing". At that point, it is "stealing".

I'm sure quite a few of them are on food stamps, cash aid and other govt assistance. The taxes taken from many Democrats are what helps to feed them. But to listen to them, Democrats are the only takers.:doh
