Now, we have the GERRYMANDERED AS **** House and then the Senate where tumbleweeds are more important than humans. It's the perfect representation of the people ;) ...

again? How many House seats does CA have? they are based on population
Senate is based on being a state -same formula as bicameral Congress

Amend the constitution if you don't like it.

It's like you didn't even read the OP.

geezus, unbalanced representation is the whole point to EACH state only having 2 senators. the HOUSE is based on population.

And with gerrymandered House districts, what we end up getting is MASSIVE unequal representation for actual humans in the country.

Yes. The system is fundamentally flawed. The Senate is just one of the archaic, inherently anti-democratic cogs in an obsolete machine.
Yup

Yep, the US House represents the people (of that district), while the Senate represents the people (of that state). This basic concept, clearly intended by the US Constitution, is hard for some to accept.

Do you think 2 senators really represent the people in the state or the political party of that state? I'd say the latter is the more accurate representation and that is regardless of Dem or Rep. Also do you think that really was the intention of the founding fathers to have only half of the state represented?

I can live with two senators from each state regardless of population. But this eliminates the need for the electoral college. That dinosaur has got to go.

Amend the constitution.

The Founders intentions are not reflected in the Constitution as it functions today. From capping the House to popular election of Senators to a perverted Electoral College which wholly gelds the institution and strips it of its purpose, what was intended is not what we have.

By the way, can all you guys see the mass exodus out of California in the pic in the OP?

Nope, but other sources show that.

Well, gerrymandered districts.

And just because the founders dreamed up a system, where tumbleweeds are as important as humans in the senate, doesn't mean it's equal representation. Our states have pretty arbitrary boundaries, that evolved over time, and that's how that representation manifests itself into our government.

It's all ****ed up. A gazillion people in one state have the same representation as 10 people in another state. And those gazillion people are diverse in their beliefs.

Nope, but other sources show that.

Yeah, it's a really small state.

Yep, the Constitution has been amended and the federal government has given itself additional powers. The former was intentional and foreseen by the founders, while the later wasn’t.

Propaganda and a far “cry” from reality.

Not that one. It has California just above the median in growth.

The house is not based on the will of the population... but of the party who rules the state house/senate. The house consistently provides more red representatives that it should according to the population and overall vote.

The only reason I support an upper house, aka Senate in places like the US, is that they tend to be stop gap against radical left or right wing grabbing power in the lower house due to gerrymandering or worse.

Hmm…

More recently, population change from July 2020 to July 2021 shows:

  • Among the 17 states where population declined over the year, losses were greatest in New York (-1.58%), Illinois (-0.89%), Hawaii (-0.71%) and California (-0.66%). Losses in these states were driven by people moving away.

Aren’t people leaving California in “droves”?

California can bend over and kiss it’s own preverbal think tank.

Wish washy minded hypnotists of their own self infatuated mindsets and thinking.

Brainwashed bandits.
