Charlie Kirk murder suspect linked to crime scene evidence through DNA match, FBI director says

You don't have to be in the FBI to know how major public announcements are made. Really weak excuse.

No, it's not typical. The FBI typically makes these announcements live, at a podium, into a microphone, from a well written script. If you don't know this, then you're unqualified for the debate. You of course do know this.

I prefer traditional government. Some things are above social media. Government is one of those things.
It’s 2025. Lots of things get announced via the internet.

He was identified by his own father. Now, there is DNA. You can deny the facts being presented, but it won’t change them.
Neither of those facts identify which, if any, ideology drove this actions. There seems to be a contest going over that.

They were

They were simply quoting Patel. Any comment on that?
"His family has collectively told investigators that he subscribed to left-wing ideology, and even more so in these last couple of years, and he had a text message exchange — he, the suspect, with another individual — in which he claimed that he had an opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk, and he was going to do it because of his hatred for what Charlie stood for,

If the DNA linked the shooter to the rifle in the the shooting, and the multiple witnesses linked the shooter to the shooting in which the rifle was used, then that may have led the person to make these statements.

"Robinson's actions were premeditated and based on his political, left-leaning beliefs, Patel said Monday in an interview on "Fox & Friends."

"Left-leaning beliefs." That's a lie.

Why's the (alleged) political motives of the shooter publicly, FBI press-conference worthy.....

Oh wait, we know why..

This the guy people want us to believe?

This is coming from the LE's investigating.

And then the people not wanting to believe the investigation reports.

Not Fox and friends.
I'm talking about Patel's comments on Fox. It's the entire article beyond the third paragraph.

Robinson's actions were premeditated and based on his political, left-leaning beliefs, Patel said Monday in an interview on "Fox & Friends."

"His family has collectively told investigators that he subscribed to left-wing ideology, and even more so in these last couple of years, and he had a text message exchange — he, the suspect, with another individual — in which he claimed that he had an opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk, and he was going to do it because of his hatred for what Charlie stood for, " the FBI director said.

Patel said that DNA matching Robinson was found on a towel allegedly wrapped around a firearm that was discarded in a wooded area near the university. The DNA was also found on a screwdriver found on a rooftop, Patel said.

Patel added on "Fox & Friends" that he and FBI agents "walked the entire crime scene" after he arrived in Utah and found the evidence.

"I can report today that the DNA hits from the towel that was wrapped around the firearm and the DNA on the screwdriver are positively processed for the suspect in custody," Patel said.

Patel stressed that only the towel wrapped around the firearm has been processed so far — the gun itself is being analyzed by Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives experts in Maryland.

It's inappropriate for the FBI director to reveal this much about an ongoing investigation on a partisan opinion show.

He did. They detained two individuals early on that they questioned and released. Patel made an announcement on X that they had caught the shooter, but he was released shortly after. It was a dumb error.
Thank you for clearing that up. I agree it was a dumb error. I will admit I missed that.

The implication that left-wing ideology is what made him hate Kirk leaves no room to consider that he simply hated what Kirk stood for sans any influence from left or right ideology. This need to attach ideology to all actions ignores that people can and do make decisions based on personal experience and critical thinking.
For sure. Fair point.

Which non-right wing ideology did Kirk stand for that might have made him a target?

If the shooter hated him, but supported right whing ideology, which of those did the person who was dating and living with a transgendered person feel was so awful that assassination was the answer?

I think you might be stretching...

Lots of things get announced via the internet.
Federal investigations should not be one of them. The reason is simple -- written material can become evidence that can torpedo a case.

I'm not sure about information affecting (negatively) any seating of a jury. ACCURATE Information, as complete as can be obtained, should always be the goal of ANY trial.

If he only shared it with Fox and no other news sources, then I could agree with you there.

I don’t know why he did what he did. None of us truly do. But it is highly possible we will find out.

Right. Individuals that you disagree with politically aren't human so it makes no sense to pay attention to what they say.
Nothing coming from the third-reich-wing or their propaganda outlets is to be taken seriously.

The DNA test is not to be believed until a non GQP/MAGA group verifies the results.

This the guy people want us to believe?

 Excuse me? And MAGA complained about Harris' word salad.

We have the particles. We can see it's possibly a note, unburdened by what the note has become.

Forensic evidence of a destroyed note. I hope it wasn't a treasure map.

Nah…..I believe the DNA test. I am curious to know what “outlets” would you “believe”?

Who destroyed the note?

He shouldn't be sharing it with anyone. That's my point. If info must be known, leak it the old fashioned way. The FBI director needs to remain neutral politically and publically.

Stir a little water and glue into the ashes and voila it turns back into a note. More likely there may be digital evidence.
