Gaza and the West banks, But maybe you are asking me for a history lesson?
During the second half of the 19th century, under the impression of the nationalist moods of the time and an anti-Semitism that in many quarters grew in strength, more and more Jews, especially from Eastern Europe, began to move to Palestine to settle there. They pioneered Zionism, a nationalist movement formally founded in 1896, the year Austrian journalist Theodor Herzl published the book Der Judenstaat (The Judean State). In 1917 Britain issued the Balfour Declaration to give the Jewish people a homeland in the land they were expelled from in 135 AD. But the British also promised the Arabs that Palestine (tThe total areas of todays Israel and palestine) would become an independent Arab state after the First World War. After the war, Palestine instead became a British mandate under the League of Nations.
In 1946, open fighting began between Arabs and Jews after which the British lost control of the situation. To resolve the conflict, the UN decided to divide Palestine into two parts, an Arab and a Jewish part. The countries of the West that were in the UN were in favor of this proposal, while the Muslim countries in the UN were against it. On May 14, 1948, the State of Israel was nevertheless proclaimed in Tel Aviv. Jews from the Palestinian side fled to the Israeli side and Arabs in Israeli territory fled over to the Palestinian side. The day after the state of Israel was proclaimed, five Arab states attacked the newly formed state. The countries attacked were Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Iraq and Lebanon. Israel still managed to repulse the attack. In addition, Israel occupied several areas . After this, Israel was attacked several times, including in 1956, 1967 and 1973. In the conflict 1967, Israel occupied the palestinian areas that was settled by the British and the UN in 1946. The only area that Israel occupy and that has gotten any recognition internationally is not a palestinian area but an area that Israel has taken from Syria called the Golan Heights. It has only been recognized by the US (By Trump in 2019)
