Can Trump survive the new House investigations?

The great shift in power tonight means that now Democrats have the power to investigate the activities of the president. They can subpoena witnesses. They can subpoena Trump’s tax returns.

Can Trump survive genuine oversight? Can he survive an investigation into Kushner’s family loans from Qatar? Can he survive an investigation into his attempts to punish Jeff Bezos? Can he survive a subpoena of his bank transactions with Russian bank?

His only worry was the Mueller investigation. Now he’ll have multiple investigations that can lead to impeachment to worry about.

Trump will not survive this.

Trump will survive.

He has the Senate. He will not be removed from office.

And no amount of shame or slime will affect how his devoted followers see him. No matter how much more slime or crime is found, his followers will say (a) it's underwhelming and (b) it's a Democratic witch hunt.
 
There's no way, short of Mueller finding an actual, provable, demonstrable, and direct, link between Trump and Russia (which seems very unlikely at this point) will Trump be removed from office by the Senate following any Impeachment vote by the House. So Yes, he can survive.

His agenda? Probably not.

I expect we will see one hell of a lot of legislation coming out of the House and being sent to the Senate between now and January.
 
He will not be removed from office. But now the Democrats are going to have an open season on him and his dark business dealings and, oh yeah, that big little bit about Russia!
 

Trump survived 16 Republicans, some who were better then others.
Trump took on the Clinton Political Machine and won.

He'll survive the petty drama queens that are the House Democrats.

Bring...it....on...!

I just hope you won't be too disappointed if Trump survives to see 2020.
 

Trump will survive it. He's there for at least 2 more years, you're not going to force him out; you'll have to vote him out. I think there should be investigations and oversight, but I don't think people should get such narrow vision as to just focus on outing Trump because I don't see that happening. The Dems now have some leverage to run interference til then, but we won't see him leave til 2 or 6 years depending on how 2020 goes.
 
He won’t be kicked from office but he also won’t be able to accomplish what he wants to accomplish. It will be a stalemate, which I personally am OK with.
 
Historians might like what House Democrats are able to document about Trump.



But day-to-day ... well, Trump might actually become a better president. Remember that he was close to signing onto a bipartisan immigration deal which the Senate was working on. Then the far-right Republicans came and sat on his shoulder and reminded him where his bread was buttered, and that's when we got the infamous ****hole countries mess.

With Democrats in power in the House now, maybe we can get some good compromise legislation -- assuming that the Senate Republicans aren't too emboldened by their larger majority to be willing to engage in compromise.

There could be some good bargaining now that both sides have leverage.
 

You mean the legislation they should have done already. That legislation?
 

I hope they do that to show the country they have no business being in their seats.
 

It’s not just Mueller anymore.

Remember how powerful the power of subpoena is. Republicans subpoenaed Hillary’s emails and caused her all kinds of problems.

Obama survived but Bill Clinton barely survived a Republican House that opened up a Whitewater investigation that turned into an embarrassing mess that hurt Gore’s election.

Trump is running around tearing up documents and having people taping the pieces up to prevent him from breaking the law.

Trump has had a free ride so far.

You have noticed as of late that those in the Justice Dept. routinely ignore them right?
 
Re: the title question, if "survive" means "remain in office," barring an egregious offense, one easily comprehended by even simpletons, coming to light, yes, he's going to survive the House investigations.

Trump is abetted by the very same thing that moves huge professional services firms to settle lawsuits brought against them: the topics jurors must comprehend aren't widely or well understood from a theoretical and practical standpoint. So while legal, management, accounting and philosophical scholars and practitioners will understand them, the fact of the matter is that most people aren't any of those things, and that they aren't means they will not comprehend the vantage point associated with the concepts that give rise to defenses in such matters.

To wit, but a paltry share of the GOP membership have, with regard to Trump and the abundant "red flags" his words and deeds have raised, expressed concern about things like independence of the judiciary, conflicts of interest, or the notion of checks and balances. Overwhelmingly, GOP-ers have discounted the importance of such concepts, despite their being essential to equitability in governance.

High office holding leaders can play "smoke and mirrors" with and "spin" the details of such matters because, average persons simply don't have to navigate the waters of such things on the nuanced level that others, Trump included, do. As a result, they just don't "get it." And for the most part, as go their daily lives, they don't need to.
 

We'll see what they turn up. I stated that I support their investigating and oversight powers.
 

I agree, Trump has pissed on his supporters legs and told them its the Dems fault, and they lap it up.

"Proveable, demonstrable and direct" are now likely quite in play.

Trump only has two more years to go. His administration (watch how many staffers leave now...that will be the GOP wave) will limp and hobble to the 2019 finish line. Its his reelection campaign that won't survive the oversight he now faces.

Its not even an administration of government. Trump now calls his "voters" fans. In other words, it has always been a entertainment enterprise, a show that gets the hearts of his base pumping and now even Trump himself essentially discusses his Presidency in terms of entertainment. That is all it is and all it ever will be. That combined with the stench that will now follow Trump to 2019 will be the end of him. If people had gotten out and voted in 2016 he never would have won in the first place. Its done!

If it is, then let's get it on.

I would prefer a quick removal and spare the country the pain of a long drawn out cluster **** of a public circus. Plus, the fact that there would be a certain number of his loyal few that may cause major harm if any evidence is dangled rather than thrown down into the light of day quickly and unquestionably.
 
The Republican is agenda is over, that's the most important part.

But old Trump ain't going anywhere, unless something incredible is found in his closet. Short of that, he'll have to be removed from office via a vote.

I'd much prefer it that way at this point. I want Trump to be a LOSER on election night 2020, as he was here.
 

That's not how investigations work, and not how good investigators work. Mueller is a man after my heart in this regard: dots EVERY 'i' and crosses EVERY 't'. Does not leave loose ends.

Hugely complex investigations (and prosecutions) that deal with international money laundering take time. It's necessary to the a proper presentation and explanation of all the evidence.
