The best way to resolve the controversy would be for John Kelly, the highly decorated military veteran who served as Trump’s chief of staff, from 2017 to 2019, to say publicly what he knows. He ought to do this without hesitation.
It’s Time for the Former General John Kelly to Speak Out About Trump’s Views on the Military | The New Yorker
And if Kelly confirms he heard Trump said this, what should we make of it?
* Poll open until the election. Feel free to add comments about other named sources who might come forward in the meantime and their motivations/credibility.
Is there anything that Trump's followers here would accept as evidence, other than a video with his own words?
And if by chance, they found a video with him uttering those exact quotes, they would just 100% dismiss it as no big deal.

That is a partisan assertaion...in fact it is clear "assumption bias" to assume everyone who continues to support the current administration is "deaf" to facts.
The problem is, the only "facts" we have been presented and allegedly "confirmed" are that one or more "anonymous" current or former government staffers have alleged a series of anti-military statements to the President.

Do you acknowledge Trump is a garbage person who could plausibly say such things?
It doesn't matter...except to useful idiots...if a person "could plausibly" say anything. What matters is...did the person say it?
With this issue...nobody actually knows.
It matters whether the commander-in-chief is a garbage person who could plausibly say such things.
Which we all know Trump is.
According to your screwed up logic, it's "plausible" that Trump could say he won't ever leave the White House...even though he's never said any such thing (except when trolling the media). And that means, to you, that he WON'T ever leave the White House.
Right?

Trump supporters don't care what he says. He could say that he hates all military members and Trump supporters would still support him. It's sickening what the Trump cult supports. Trump is just a symptom, Trump supporters are the real enemy of America. Each day a Trump supporter passes away is a day to celebrate that they finally Made America Better by passing away.
Right now, John Kelly is well aware that he has the power to possibly sway the election one way or the other. Don't think for a minute he's not aware of this.
If this report is false, there's absolutely no reason that John Kelly has not to come out publicly and clearly say so.
On the other hand, if it's true, he has to consider the consequences of his verification. What are the consequences? For one thing, coincidentally or not, General Kelly became a partner in the firm that operated the Homestead, Florida immigrant detention center that received a lot of negative press. Will that be brought up to vilify him and make him look like he took favors from Trump on one hand and dealt him a lethal election blow on the other hand?
John Kelly would be made out to be a evil person by Fox and the alt-right spinning machines. He'll get death threats and will have to fear for the lives of his family. His reputation will be tarnished. What retired US General wants that?
Odd that you acknowledge he had said such a thing. I guess he’ll just be “trolling” us when he acts on it, too.
And if he says it never happened he will get death threats from the hate-filled left. You can stop pretending any time now that your side is nothing but sweetness and light.
Another vile, divisive, hateful post by Praxas. And not one leftist will have the balls to call you out.
You're the ones filled with hatred. Hate of "libruls", Hate of immigrants. Hate of Muslims. Hate of the truth.

We already have experience with both MSM anti-Administration propaganda disinformation efforts, AND a slew of "current and former" government officials alleging all sorts of bad things about Trump.
Few (if any) have ever been factually verified, and simply remain allegations. Some may even have been made up under the guise of such "anonymous sources" by the "reporters."
I don't believe there has been a President in US History who has suffered the kind of Media antipathy at this level; where we find it very hard to know what is fact, what is fiction, and what is just opinion.
But if there is a FACTUAL basis that we, the audience, can examine for ourselves? Then and ONLY then can we make an informed decision.
Meanwhile, the MSM aided by anti-Administration elements in government service and Congress have given little reason to be trusted. Not when it comes to what is true and what is just political character assassination.
